  1. They're a teflon coated piece of plastic. You wrap them around your bar under your lever perch in case you're too thick to leave the bolts slightly slack to allow for rotation of the lever in a fall.........
  2. ha ha.... most people get to a section and just pick a line.......
  3. One piece lycra suits.... what a brilliant idea... "What shall I do today? I know, I'll dress up in a multi-coloured condom and throw myself at some rocks in front of a dozen or so spectators......) To be honest, that last remark was probably jealousy as I could never get my 17 1/2 stone into one of the bloody things, never mind the hernias I would get sucking my gut in for 4 1/2 hours on a saturday..... MX gear for me......
  4. "Although I saw tracks going in,....." Hope you went back to get the poor sod who was still in there!!
  5. I wonder if anyone can help me? I looked at the classifieds on the site and saw someone selling OF3 trials boots. I tried to look up some info on the web but only got MTB sites describing their apparel, not these boots. Has anyone any experience of these boots and/or any pictures? Are they even for motorcycle trials? Maybe they're for bicycle trials or something. Also, has anyone tried a pair of Forma Gripper boots? Opinions? Cheers..........
  6. Try www.bbbikeshop.co.uk. They carry a good range of the Wulfsport offroad gear........
  7. Yamaha released the most radical bike out since the Bultaco 2S of sammy miller's due to them being the first to the punch with a single linkage shocked rear end. They seemed less radical as they weren't being show cased at the top end of the sport by a factory team. Since then their bullet proof reputation as well as their ease of use has probably accounted for their continued demand

    Nice Work

Its the chain that gets me!! is that a solid ring of wood with the back sprocket wedged in or did the maker actually make 112 wooden links and join them up?? amazing craftsmanship!! brings a whole new meaning to wooden brakes.... (groan )
  9. BVM are cheap as chips..... also, have a look in mountainbike stores for gear. The downhill stuff is just as tough as bona fide trials gear buit is usually cheaper ( got a pair of fox trews brand new for
  10. Screwfix do a large screw type expanding plug that has a large protruding ring end (fnar fnar.. ...) that will take a chain. Other options I have seen need to be cemented or bonded into the concrete. With a chain in place it can't be screwed out.
  11. cable clutch, think they all had, right up till the end of production.....
  12. Aprilia Climber 280R, 1981 Montesa Cota 349, BSA Bantam D14 (only three gears, now THATS' fun in a section....) oh, and a Maico 490 Mega2 (not so good at the slow speed stuff though... )
  13. Thanks guys....... just seems very odd that a bike in such great shape would have such a crap clutch action. It's a pain in the 'arris having to hold it on the brake with the clutch fully in, especially in a section.... but if they all do that, then who am I to argue? Has anyone modified the clutch to prevent this though?
  14. A friend of mine recently bought a 2002 sherco 200. On our last outing he binned it and lost all the pressure in the clutch. We got it home and tightened everything up and re-bled several times so there is absolutely no air in there, but the clutch still drags significantly. Fully in, the bike still creeps forward. We adjusted at the lever and still no good. I think there were new clutch plates in just before he bought it, so do you think these need bedded in? or is there a shim or something missing at the actuator end? help please..... Thanks
  15. might sound a bit obvious, but have you checked your air filter? mine was running like a dog until I changed it. I had cleaned it out and oiled it, but that only worked for a wee while.......
  16. if you've had the helmet for some years and the foam is disintegrating, then it is NOT good as new. The outside shell may be scratch free, but the condition on the inside is just as, if not more, important in protecting your napper in a fall. Get a new helmet.
  17. Marky Boy, That scorpa looks the mutts nuts!! did you get her done like that? now if the helmet was done to match, THAT would be a bit special. Only then everyone would be paying more attention when you drop a five every now and then........
  18. I have a 1993 as pictured. It pulls like a brute, I weigh 18 stone dead (all muscle of course ) and it can haul my lardy ass up anything. Rathmell has been quoted as a place for parts here before as I asked around on this forum when I bought the bike. Didn't really get too much info like fork adjustments for my weight etc (hint hint) so persevere. Rathmell may have some owners manuals. I had been used to riding a maico 490 motocrosser so I thought the power of the priller was quite soft but aparently they were quite the beast. certainly a lot more torque than my mates 200 sherco. But I suppose thats not really comparing like for like. To cut a long story short, good strong bike, well built, heavy compared to modern tackle. ps Don't break the plastics, rare and expensive....
  19. WD40 attracts less dirt than normal lube because it is less viscous. It also has the added benefit of displacing any moisture in the links as opposed to oil which forms a film over it. With O-ring chains, very viscous chain lubes won't penetrate to the high wear areas anyway, ie, under the O-ring, so it just sits on the surface attracting dust / silt / grit etc......
  20. I agree with the WD40 idea. Wear on the chain isn't any greater than with ordinary chain lude, possibly because you don't get the same amount of abrasive material sticking to it. I use it on chains on a VFR750, a Maico 490 Alpha2, Aprilia Climber 280R and a Cota 349, all with good results.
  21. I bought a Kodak CX6200 when I was in the states last year for $100, really proud of myself grabbing such a bargain until I realised that amazon.co.uk do them as well for about 60 odd quid. I thought that at the price it might be cheap and cheerful but after using it and along with other customer reviews I've realised it's a really good wee camera. 2mp is sufficient for my use and it is even robust enough to have been dropped twice. It's also a doddle to use as most of the setting and navigation come off a main menu, yet the review and delete functions (the most common) have their own specific buttons. Another benifit is the fact that you can get the benifit of digital photography without the need to buy a computer ( probably a moot point for people reading an online trials forum but I digress....) as you can buy a printer dock , again, from Amazon for
  22. That premier looks mint!!! anyone know any more about them? Price? weight? where to buy one? It's bound to be cool (temperature wise) with all that venting, though maybe not such a good idea in a downpour which is what we usually have to ride in!!
  23. Thats funny, my xpeed is the same as the one in the picture you posted and mine had the quick release 'seat belt' type buckle. Maybe it's a difference demanded by the american safety conformity checks or something......
  24. I don't know what it's like regarding ACU rules regarding helmets, but the MCUI (irish equivalent) states that all helmets must be D.O.T approved, so if an official decided to be picky he could exclude you from the competition for an ineligable lid. On another note, I too have an xpeed helmet like this and have found it very comfortable, though my first outing did result in the peak being blown off ( in a gale force wind admittedly...), so make sure the central screw under the peak / visor is snug as it's the only thing really holding it on.
