    Oops!

Bit hard for it not to with the trailer lying on its side!
  2. My mistake, I forgot about the one on the upright!
  3. My Autowbars rack arrived today, and I've got it fitted OK. There doesn't seem to be any way of stopping the handlebar hitting the rear window of the Uglicar though so it looks like I'll have to sort out some sort of padding. It would help if I could strap the bike down a bit more securely. The straps that I bought from Autowbars with the rack don't have ratchets, and are rather weedier than I expected (not to mention almost twice the price that my local care spares shop charges!). Any reason not to use ratchet straps? It would seem to be better to me, but I obviously don't want to crank everything down so hard that the rack starts to bend. The instructions say to use all the tie-down points, but don't give any more hints. There are only three: two in the middle and one by the rear wheel. I saw the "two strap" technique on another thread, but does anyone else have any pointers? Thanks!
  4. Yes, I didn't even contact the seller. I was specifically looking for a Rev 3 200, and the price seemed good for a 2004 (but not too good to be true!). The seller had good feedback, and the advert didn't set any alarm bells ringing so I went for it.
  5. Didn't even get out of my chair! The bike was 350 miles away though: http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....showtopic=12199
  6. Those are soooooo cool! I wonder if I could buy one for my lad without ending up divorced . . . How much did the shipping cost?
  7. Watch this space! I've just bought a 200 and I'm nearer 140lb. I'll let you know how it goes . . . I'm 6'6" tall, and it looks like a minimoto with me on it, but I reckon with legs as long as mine, one good dab should get me a long way
  8. It's still there. Just need to get the address right, because all the obvious-but-wrong ones don't work! www.autowbars.co.uk
  9. Thanks for the tips! It's a 200
  10. Well it got here OK, and it seems to be OK. Just need to learn to ride it properly now!
  11. I've got my first trials bike, and I'm looking forward to falling off it. My last bike was a Honda Africa Twin, which weighed well over three times as much as the Beta! There seem to be a few trials clubs near me Worthing, Bognor, Horsham, Reigate so should manage to get to a few events. I feel that I really need a nice flat field to start with though
  12. Guess what? Apparently only the top of the range ones are available in my size, so I had to order a some. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
  13. I bought this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...N:IT&ih=018 and I'm using these people to transport it 358 miles back to my house for the princely sum of
  14. Thanks for the tips! I had an Ebay moment and bought a 2004 model in the end. Should get it next week sometime.
  15. Now, I'm new to this, but my initial reaction to this statement is simply that if that's the case, trials bikes shouldn't be on the road. I'm surprised that people are trying to justify it. It's not about whether the police are reasonable, friendly or anti-bike. If you ride a bike on the road, and it isn't road legal, then aren't you in the same category as kids tearing around on mini motos? I know nothing about "road trials" but I guess they have their origins in the days when "trias bikes" as such didn't exist and people trialled whatever they rode. If that's the case then maybe a modern trials bike has developed too far to be appropriate for roads trials.
  16. I think I've decided on a Beta Rev3 200 as my first trials bike, having read good reviews of the Betas and taking into account what people have said on the "What's wrong with 200s" thread! I'm going to look at one that's advertised here: http://www.trialscentral.com/classifieds/d...php?siteid=2255 Anything I should look out for? Anyone know this bike? Thanks!
  17. Thanks for all the replies. Appleyards couldn't help, but Motomerlin are local to me and have been very helpful. Apparently Gaerne go up to my size which seems to be a result as I've only read good things about them. My inclination is to go for the least expensive of their range - would that be a false economy?
  18. Looks like I've got a bike and car rack lined up, but as a complete newbie what other kit is essential/worthwhile? I don't want to spend buckets of cash that I haven't got, but I would rather get some sensible kit so that I enjoy learning to ride trials rather than having a miserable time! A helmet's essential to me, so that's one thing definitely on the list. Looks like I'll need to spend something like
