    Swing Arm....

andy, i recently bought a 290 off ebay and it is definately worth giving a good once over stripping it and greasing it. If its a new bike to you, you also get to learn the bike. like its little niggles and tweeks. Although it took a couple of weeks to do before i could ride it, it was worth the peace of mind. enjoy!
  2. some good pics of the event there. i'd love to ride a comp in CA! like the girls in your profile pic to!
  3. i bought tmx this week. must have read it in 15mins. I agree, they should lose the T. every page is near enough motoX. Good job for andy, and TC!!!!................thanks andy. dont think il bother anymore with tmx, only for regs.
  4. was quite lucky really neo. the macinist guy at the factory where i work loves motorbikes and offered to do it for nowt!!!! the guiness is my gesture of goodwill stand by copemech for more sherco queries.........................
  5. --> QUOTE(John.B @ Feb 28 2007, 09:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why bother with getting parts made when MRS have them all in stock. iv got the machinist to knock me one up cos he will do it for a 12pack of guiness, for the delta link & bush! As what neo said it will probably be as good if not better and cheaper too! Thanks for the delta link offer copemech........ shame really. where do you get your sherco info from????? your the sherco oracle!!!! Thanks for the help guys. will keep you posted how the delta link comes on from this guy.... if anyones interested in goin down that route too.
  6. Thanks copemech. the bike is an '04. So il do a lil' research see if that link might fit...... also cost of delivery from the states. Im also gettin a machinist to have a look see if he can make a bush and delta link up.
  7. I took the shock off and the top bush it a good snug fit. the bottom was quite loose (even when tightened up!). After looking at the delta link it looks like it was damaged/weld repaired!!! I saw the TRP shock... couldnt find a price or dealer tho. Would it worth the investment or just new bushes?
  8. Does anyone have any recommendations for the amount of fork oil I should be using in my 290? And what weight oil? Iv just got the bike and I'm giving it a once over with fresh grease and oil, about 300ml came from each fork leg. I got some PJ1 extra light fork tuner (5 HVA or something like that if it means anything to anyone???) from the seller of the bike, will this be ok? Also the the bottom bush on my shock has loads of play, but I cant find the part number in the sherco manual (downloaded from MRS). Is it the same as the upper bush, as there is a repair kit for this?

    Sprocket Size?

im due to change my chain & sprokets for the first time on my sherco 290 (2004). What is the recommended tooth size front and back? When i bought the bike, the seller told me that a different size sproket was put on the back, but he couldn't remember what it was.
  11. topgear is just a couple of blokes doing what blokes do and talk about down the pub.............. brilliant concept!!! the america challenge episode made me laugh so much. especially the hicks chasing them! at the end of the day its just a tv program. If you dont like it, turn over......
  12. its happening!!!! pasty skin, hunched back, rings round my eyes!!!! i cant stop playin these dam games. i wonder if i can adapt the same controls on to a real bike..................hmmmmmm! (thanks for the links vince)
  13. just clicked on the link........... 2hours has just gone by in a second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you look up addictive in the Oxford dictionary there will be a link to this game.
  14. I kind of agree. I used to do regularly compete at the start and all through my teens. then when I had to stand on my own two feet couldnt really afford it. Now I'm getting a new bike and all new kit (gonna look like all the gear and no idea), I'm really looking forward to getting back into it. This website (well done Andy!!) has been an amazing source on info for choosing a bike and "catching" up on those years I'v missed. Anytime I talk to a trialler I ask them IF they go on TC. If they haven't heard of it, I direct them to it. I do think tho that a newbie section will kinda isolate the fresh blood to the sport and maybe not get them involved with trials masses. Although it is nice to speak to people in the same boat as yourself. Also at what point are you not a newbie anymore????? Thanks for all the advice and posts , keep it up!!
  15. does anyone know a source where all the rules are? i'v tried the ACU website to no avail........ just out of interest really. my opinion on this lies with that i really enjoy trials in both riding and spectating, watching the skills the likes of wiggy has. It would just be nice to have a set of rules everyone understands and is happy with......... it can ruin a good day out arguing with an observer!
  16. just how reliable is buying a bike off ebay? commiting to buy a bike you haven't seen. has anyone had any trouble?
  17. the venue is owned by earl shilton trial club. they do a 2 tier membership.
  18. alright vince i live up near hinckley, and theres a good practice venue here, used by earl shilton trial club. dont now what to say bout your bike, i suppose you ride what ever makes you happy!

    Which Sherco?

reading through TC sherco forums, alot of mod talk going on. are the bike still good out the box? quite a few people mentioning the slow action throttle. is this a mod a should seriously look at or wait til i'v ridden it a few times? (when i was initially lookin there were loads 04 sherco's about, now im ready to buy they've all gone!!!!! unless i want to pay a kings ransom or travel to a million miles.) thirsty stuff!

  24. alright mate, i'm fallin under the newbie cat (did ride abit when i was younger but all balance and skill has vanished, if any) I got a good deal on some jitsie kit for 99 quid (trousers, top and gloves), dont know if its any good, time will tell. not sure on boots tho. probably best just to keep it cheap and simple, bike and kit will grow with time!
  25. used to do abit of trialin when i were younger, also got into downhill mountainbiking..... did more bikin than trialin, now decided a couple of years down the line for trials bike, sherco 290 actually. anyone who knows any decent practice venues in the east midlands let me know!! cheers gaz
