  1. more than likely bit of grit on float needle.DO NOT ADJUST FLOAT HEIGHT.
  2. use instant gasket instead, much better
  3. no problem.i run second hand tyres tube and tubeless on my honda, not bought new tyre for 20 years.
  4. it may be a puch 125 engine like the trials bike? the trials version was not much good.and not worth much. in this condition
  5. put new woodruff key on crank, your timming has slipped.
  6. yes but change engine oil every 1,000 miles.
  7. desbough near kettering nene valley lost venue many years ago what a great place it was.
  8. not sure about swing arm width.best to put any wheel with trials tyre blown up in to try out.i seem to remember the barracuder engine is high compression so piston will need some alloy from top taking of or other b25 piston put in.poss also cam shaft not so wild.i wonder if c15 engine parts may do trick.
  9. thanks for the warning.but trials bikes are not your problem.some of the bikes appear to be stolen road bikes.so hope fully the police will do some thing about them.
  10. hi steve,he will be sadly missed.hope to catch up with you soon.richard hewitt.
  11. 1986 RTL 250.ITS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION possible worth
  12. yes its hard when you first start.when i first started 35 years ago there was only 1 route so was very hard, but i kept trying, then came along 2 routes that was great, now theres 3 or 4,so keep practising,it gets easier.
  13. if the bike was ok,how can the settings suddenly change,i doubt thats the problem.i agree with last bloke, air leak.or water in carb.but you say its been cleaned
  14. im a mot tester my book is same as that on vosa web site.so as long as you go by book the bike will pass a mot.no mot station can fail bike by making up new things as vosa computer wont let us. i see chain gaurd if fitted must be secure, but if not fitted cannot fail mot. by push bike type horn they have there own battery and are continuos so no problem. with no lights fitted you should get an advise saying that, this covers the tester.in fact you can have lights fitted if masked up will still pass mot.
  15. i may be wrong but looks like standard hubs front and back from approx 1950 matchless road bike to me.but the forks i have no idea.the yokes are simular to road bike as well is top one steel painted to look like alloy ? looking at forks again are they standard as well as they have bottom mudgaurd mounts, and perhaps moddied for trials mudgaurd. i may be completly wrong so please dont shout at me.
  16. water sinks to bottom of float bowl.water is only a problem when revving out on main jet as it wont pass through main jet which sits lower in bowl. i would say that bit of tinkering with air screw is best bet.try turning in while counting turns till it stops dont force it.it should be about one and a half.try up to 2 and a bit. if any one says play with float hights dont go there,as bike cannot suddenly adjust itself.
  17. unburnt fuel in exhuast, possible slight flooding of carb.
  18. yes it will bolt straight in.wireing will be different through

    Tlm 200

put needle on 2nd position.try smaller jets like the one you borrowed. throw away std air filter take rubber of top of air box and fit rtl250 air filter in hole on top where the rubber goes on top.
  20. i still have a pair of garnes i bought from sammy miller and 30 years of hard use riding every week.so i reckon the modern boots not made like they used to.
  21. sounds like you have cleaned carb well.take out air screw i use wd40 with red pipe on to make sure it comes out in 2 places.through pilot jet and small hole back of slide. also points set at 12 thou.also if it smokes may be piston rings sticking.or air leak on inlet manifold.
