Hey,
my sherco's (2007 3.2) carb started to lose a lot of fuel out the little tube that comes out the carb (overflow?) some peoply told me i should fit a longer tube and route it over the carb to stop the dripping? is this correct? and will my bike not flood then?
float is set at 19 mm
pilot jet 48
main jet 120
air 3/4 out
ps the bike starts badly now wen hot, cold start is no problem (it did start ok before)

hey ,
found an article on sammy miller's pre 65 replica he used in the '90s would that sort of bike be competitive today?
its 225lbs and has a modified front roadholder fork (not a modern in old sliders) i guess a bike like that would be quite easy to make as there are no big mods on it,
stil i don't get how it can only weigh 225 lbs. wat does a "mildly millerised" stock pre 65 ariel weigh (so using alloy engineplates, real pre 65 brakes, ...)
i guess the super trick bikes are not really a must to be competitive in pre 65? someone i know had one (120kg long stroke 600 cc) and was verry good with that bike (eurocup winner)
regards bob
-
idd a verry nice bike and it still looks "pre 65"

-
hey,
the bike looks really nice

hey,
my bike with the wes exhaust ran verry hot and didn't rev cleanly, changed to the stock exhaust and it runs cooler end revs better also it doesnt smoke anymore

hey,
you have to load the rear susp. by going backwards and downwards with your body, then unload the suspension by going up and forwards whit your body and help the rear wheel going up by use of the clutch. front brake is full on during this action.
to go sidewards just let your body go to the right (or left) when unloading the rear wheel and uure legs to bring the bike back under the body.
practise frontwheel downwards on a gentile slope.
hope it helps

hey,
i did it on a honda tlr 200, it worked fine but the inner tube moves and you have to move it back frequently

hey,
thats wat i want to bild, i would enter it as a twinshock to be sure no to offend real pre 65 riders and machines
(not much rules in belgium so i dont want to start the same problems as in the uk)
you made the frame yourself? did you used mesurements of an existing frame or you find it yourself ?
where can i get a shortstroke engine and are the better for modern events?
is it a stock engine or are there things that have to be changed to make them work better?
how does it go? turning tight?
could use any info you can give me (27 years old so not 100% up to date on pre 65 pre unit engines but i gues the are not so hard to work on)
regards bob
-
something like that but a bit more pre 65 looking and with a nice sammy miller tank on it
-
Hey,
i'm looking to bild an ariel 500 that i could use for modern (clubman level) and oldtimer competition,
where can you get the right frame?
long stroke or short stroke? wat engine mods?
i would like something like G. Dufou's bike, M. Grants bike is a bit to much of it
regards bob
ps i now that it is cheeting but i intend to use it in twinshock events where i use an tlr 250 now
would it be easier to use a B40 donor bike ?
any idea of prices for the frame?
-
hey,
I had a wes exhaust on my bike and changed back to the stock honda exhaust. bike runs better on the stock exhaust
regards bob
-
hey,
idd only use honda brake cable there are the best
sure the hub is not used out?
i have stock honda brake and it works great
the 250's brake is better than a 200's but a 200's should work to

hey,
also do not forget mountainbike and swimming, being strong is verry usefull but a trials rider needs to be fit, tired people make silly mistakes.

-
hey
tnx for the replay!
my carb only leaks now and then mostly it works great, just sometimes the fuel streams out of the overflow pipe and then it stops again for some time
i gues its a sticky needle or something like that (floats rubbing agains something?)
regards bob
-
hey
my 320 does it to float set at 18 mm (i tought)
but still a great bike starts good to (2007)
pilot jet is 48 mayby a bit to big (in low revs the bike is not 100%)?
regards bob
-
hey,
what are the prices of trials bikes in UK?
5700 euro is not far of what you pay for a 2T trials bike in belgium, the cota 4 rt is 7300 now and wil be +- 8000 soon.
May be intressting to know, if i see the prices of 2nd hands bikes in uk, they are a lot lower than the are here. a 4 rt 2 years old will go 4000 euro here if its standard.
twinshock prices are a lot higher to in europe (one of mine comes out the uk) a decend fantic 240 will go +- 2000 euro
tlr 250 in good condition 4000 euro and more ...
about the greeves, they bike looks strange not just the color and stickers, but the frame too
but a 1960's greeves looked strange to
it may be a good bike but whe should wait for a proper test same with the xispa and the gasgas 4stroke before judging.
regards bob
ps sorry for any spelling mistakes
-
hey,
i train my balance with a coin on my fatbar mount, if it drops you tilt the bike to much (engine not running or it shakes off) after e few days i add more pressure to the tires in steps up to 2 bar. it works great just practise 10 min a day (i do it in my shed).
have fun

-
hey,
i also perfer the irc tyre, specially in winter when the michelin rubber is to hard. in the summer i use michelin on my sherco, the irc is a bit to soft then
on my twinshock i alway use tubeless irc

hey
have an 3.2 and idd it vibrates more (but i think its normal big single 4 strokes do that) than a 2 stroke or a cota 4 rt
it grips great but you have to be used to it, if you ride it like a 2T (a lot of gas) it doesnt work (look at toni bou he understands how to make a 4stroke grip)
i like my bike a lot more than my 4 rt i had before (and that was a good bike to) but it is not an easy bike and you have to make it grip using bottom power and a tall gear
it takes some time for someone who is used to a 2t. It is a different style of riding and some like it others dont, you should try the bikes, there all good.
