hey
i have a 2007 (engine is not 100% stock)
perfect bike for me (had an 4rt) light, powerfull, a lot of grip, good clutch smooth engine with a lot of top end power (not a beginners bike but a 2.9 isn't eather) it took me 3 weeks to ride it as good as my mont and than it only went better.
regards bob
-
hey,
it is not that easy to say, it all depends on wat you want
montesa: well bild, no problems, expensive (bad footrests, no fatbar, clutch not that smooth, power is ok for most riders but top riders need more, all this can be fixed but at a cost ) , bit heavy, not a real play bike but verry good for most riders ( had one for 2 years)
sherco: looks nice, a lot of power (and noise), play bike, hops verry good, light, ready for expert course, starting must be learnt, carb setup verry important, rear shock could be improved
beta: no personal experiance but sounds nice, looks nice to
scorpa: never seen one in action
-
hey,
idd clutch is verry bad and thats a part of the problem but i can only ride it on the clutch (modern style).
for climing hils the trick is to ride it fast and in high revs, in the lower revs the front comes up to fast and idd difficult to correct it then.
i know the honda steers not bad for a twinshock (had a bultaco 350 before) but some of the pre 65 bikes seem to do it better (top ariels in uk, and look at those fork angels)
i have the long falcon shocks on my bike and dropped the front of the bike 15 mm (dropping the yokes over the fork tubes) and thats an improvement.
i dont know the sections in UK but here (belgium) some turns just neerly impossible to to steer the bike round, the top guys steer the bike round on the rear wheel ( but i can not do this verry good yet)
greetings bob
-
yep,
that seems to be the case on the 250 on the 200 they put the footrests backwards
i have tried some things with the bars but no cure the front just buldozers straight on, i hop the bike a lot now in tight corners but most people don't like it (even got some 5's for it)
regards bob

hey thanks for the replies
the problem is not really the grip but more the front thats to light, i also ride modern bikes (sherco 3.2) so i think a steeper head angle would be better fo me.
greets bob
-
Hey,
i'm thinking to change my tlr frame so the fork angle is steeper.
Has anyone done this before? any idees in how much i should change it stock is 24
-
hey,
Thanks for the info
regards bob
-
hey tnx for te reply,
is it possible to rebore an tlr 250? liner seems to be verry fine can you still have new pistons for an tlr?
would an rtl 250 cylinder fit?
or one of the chineese honda copies?
regards bob
-
is this the sameon the 3.2 4t?
i can only feel a difference in the high revs (on a 290 i once tried biggest change was also in high revs in the softer map the bike didnt rev high)
regards bob
-
hey,
my trl 250 looses a lot of oil at the exit of the breatherpipe (next to the airbox).
what could cause this? (appart from puttng in to much oil)
i'm thinking a gasket leaking or something like that
regards bob
-
hey thanks for the info,
ive put it on 19mm
its beter now
pilot 48 (bo big ?)
main 120
slide 4
runs ok now starts good and less fire out of the exhaust
-
just checked no air leaks at the carb or the exhaust
how do you messure float hight (pkw keihin carb)? what should it be?
jet sizes for the bike? (2007 3.2)
air screw is set on 7/8 out
regards bob
-
its a 2007 bike with keihin carb
i'will check the rubbers on the carb, what should floathight be?
any idee on jetting for the bike?
greetings bob
-
Hey,
My sherco spitts flames ( it makes a bang and a big flash no flames that burn for some seconds like on a superbike) out of the exhaust when i rev it and then close the throthle. (Bit like a chopper that is set to rich) The flame is up to 20 cm, anyone an idea what is causing this and is it dangerous for my bike?
my toughts are:
exhaust valve that closes to late
mixture to ritch (wat are the standard settings on this bike, airscrew, jetsize, ... )
ignition timing not correct
bike still ride ok no other problems just idle speed that is not constant the same (it drops )
any help would be welcome
regards bob
-
hey,
did you ride in map 2?
i know a gasgas will boill over when used hard in the wet weather setting so mayby a sherco does this also?
my 4t (2007) gets verry hot to fan continuesly running than stops for a verry short while (seconds) and that runs again is thins normal?
my cota 4 rt didn' t do this mayby the interval in whith the thermostate switches on/off is to small?
regards bob
-
hey
have my 2007 stroke 4 weeks now and no more problems starting it, (it is a habbit to start just like my montesa 4rt was)
i don't have a hot start thing on my bike and it has the keihin carb. It does rattle on low tickover (i'm told its the decompression ? )
the bike runs great, lots of power verry easy to hop (feels lighter dan it is on paper) ive set the tickover a little higher ( starts better and doesn't stall )
regards bob
-
hey,
got an 2007 sherco and it is a verry fine bike but its just a bit to loud, is there anything that i can do to make it less noisy?
what exhaust is there on it in stock condition? i' ve seen there is a racing exhaust and a "less noisy" one can you see the difference (any number or sign on it?)
there are things for sale to put on the exhaust (db killer) do they work?
is there a big loss of power ?
regards bob
-
hey
i would leave the engine like it is there is a lot of power in it
regards bob
-
the plugs of the 4 rt are ok you just have to wait when cold started until the fan kicks in (in wintertime it can take a while)
how long do you people ride (riding sections not off road racing ) on a full tank of fuel on the sherco 3.2 mine was almost empty in a good 60min, is this normal?
regards bob
-
hy
just bought 3.2 sherco does anyone has tips for service?
also riding tips are welcome (i am used to 4 stroke power) egg what gear to use for tight sections and mud 1 or 2nd ?
anything special for starting the bike?
what oil to use?
it comes with trp/jitsie rear shock better than original?
regards bob
-
hey,
Have the uk montesa's different setup? Here in belgium anybody i know whit a 4rt finds its the best bike for finding grip. The bike isnt that great in taking steps and hopping the front (to heavy) clutch isn't that great eather (2005 mod). i will stay with fourstroke power but mayby try the sherco, it feels lighter to me but the engine isn't that smooth.
regards bob
-
hey
i use denicol 15-50 for wet clutch engines, (tlr 250 stock clutch) with normal "modern car engine oil" the clutch is not that smooth
regards bob
-
hey you can fill in the form on the day of the start that is no prob
regards bob
-
Hey the kit i was talking about is for sale at B&J racing, i do not know if its the same or not.
do the barnett plates make the clutch smoother and overheating proof or only overheating proof?
regards bob
