that 28mm oko is how they are sold now (well its a keihin but its neerly the same carb),
i really think the 24mm is a great improvement for most riders ( top guys may miss some high end power?)
now i will "develop" my bike further i plan to change ignition timing by slotting the mounting holes a bit so i can turn the ignition plate a bit and mayby put a trp rear shock on the bike
i would like to increase the weight of the flywheel a bit to but that seems not so easy.

hey
had a trial yesterday with the 24mm oko, first 2 laps i rode very bad on the sections where you needed power in 3th gear (very loose climbs ),
last 2 laps just went verry good (from 19 points a lap to 2 point)
i hadn't trained on the bike yet and i guess first 2 laps i needed some time to addapt to the bike.
but now i'm verry happy with my bike it still flies up loose hills where most 2 strokes just don't get (4 gear full power ) and is more smooth in low revs

hey,
make sure there are no plastic bits in the carb and that the fuel needle closes good and check float hight and maybe put a fuel filter on the bike

those on ebay mostly have jets for dirtbikes like thumpstar and so (42 pilot and 107 main or even bigger)
that jetting worked fine on my sherco also but mixture screw 4-5 turns out so way to ritch
-
the tube dends feul to the "power jet" a very small 3th jet on top of the carb inlet
it gives more fuel on higher revs (for thumpstars and so) for trials it is not needed just take the 3th jet out and close that hole

hey
its not the classic trial guy but he knows his stuff well too, normally he can help you also.
i bought it from Jon Bliss (he does the flywheel conversion on the 4 strokes and the 24 mm carb
(that setup seems to be a lot beter dan stock in the slippery parts of the uk)
-
hey
you could change the rear sprocket to 43 or 44 T that slows the bike down a bit or fit an other mapping to the bike.

hey
some more info on my 24 mm carb
my jets are 37 pilot 105 main and powerjet connected
the guy who sold my the carb told me: use 35 pilot 98 main without powerjet (take it out and put a screw in that hole) i wil try it as soon as possible but it should be ok he owns a 4 stroke too and he is a very good engenier and developer of trials bikes.

i have no idea what jets i bought the carb for my tlr 250 but i will keep it on the sherco and buy 2 more (for the honda and my bsa)
i just fitted it like i got it and it seems to be good i will look what jets and post it soon.

just fitted the 24mm on my 4 stroke
big differance in lower revs, a lot smoother bike idles better starts good (on the kehin it started gos also no change there)
still a lot of power but more spread out over the revs, it feels less agressive and doesn't spit when the throttle is opened to fast.
this is how sherco should have selled it and a 28mm for the cabastany and the racing!
really a good carb just have to see what it does on a real trials test track (only tried my sections in the garden where you only use low revs)

hello,
a longer swingarm is a good thing on those tlr's (250 needs it more) the front of the tlr is very light and using a longer swingarm helps here
on the 200 you could move the footrests back a bit but you should lower them at the same time (balance will improve ) on a 250 you better don't move the pegs back.
I wil be doing this to my own 250 during the winter.

hey,
with the mussy trials comming now i wil try an 24mm oko on my 4 stroke (a lot of people run them on ariels and bsa so i guess this should be fine.

hey, i hope you enjoy your new bike,
i see most people are very negative over the sherco but i have one and i feel it is the only stock 4 stroke you can ride on a high level.
i rode a 4rt 2 years and when i got the sherco my riding improved a lot.
it is no bike for beginners but it is a lot better then a 4rt (oned one for 2 years) and i tried the 250 cc beta and didn't like the power of the bike it was to soft.
build quality of the mont is the best, a sherco demands more care and should be checked more, beta i can not say (never oned one).
ofcoarse it depends on your driving style and the type of events (muddy or grippy, big steps,...) but my next bike will be a sherco again ( or mayby beta 300 if i like them i will try them anyway)

-
hey,
where can you get these things never heart from it (i live in belgium)
could be just the thing i need to smooth the sherco in lower revs
regards bob
-
hey
on a sherco 4t you don't need a run op they are so strong they will climb anything,
if you bike gets to hot put the needle 1 clip higher (2 nd slot from top go to 3rd) it will get more fuel in higher revs and effect on bottom power is minimal or put a slightly bigger main jet
regards bob
-
hey,
does enyone knows if there exists a kit to put an extra weight in the flywheel (like they exist for gasgas txt), i like the bike a lot but i guess it needs a bit more flywheel to let it gripp better and make the bike smoother in low revs.

hey ,
i'm happy i'm not the onlyone who has this problem,
would it be ok if i used single grade w 40 oil (spec is 15-50)?

hey ,
my sherco 3.2 (2007) has a verry on-off clutch i only have 2-3 mm to work with on the leaver is this normal?
it has always been like this but previous owner was a verry good rider so mayby he changed something to it?
is there any way to adjust this (clutch doesn t slip and it doesnt stick so i guess its not used up)
i now have castrol 10w40w in the bike.
regards bob
-
hey
i have one jetted 35 - 37 pilot
105 main jet
i have not tested it yet but will put it on a b40 soon

hey,
idd in europe the bikes are not that special, most twinshcks are stock or mayby other carb and exhaust fitted.
i ride a lot in twinshock experts and to win you don't need a special bike (mine is a stock tlr 250 on a tubeless rim)
you can ride modern events on those bikes also, they are great fun to ride.
In Belgium winning is not so important its a verry social thing and all about having fun.
of corse most people like to do well but its still 90% the rider that makes the differance.

-
hey,
i also just bought a bsa, what's the best ignition system for these bikes? (its still running on points now)
regards bob
-
hey
is verry important to drink enough (water) when you feel thirsty its allready to late,
its more important in summertime but even in winter most people don't drink enough just little bits (like tenis players do)
regards bob
-
hey
we had a man riding a tlm 260 r (hrc build bike not the 250) just until 2006 in modern trials, he was unbeatable on that bike but he changed for a 4rt last year
no more parts (he is a former honda dealer so hey should know where to get them) and those that where left were very expensive. he still has his bike and told me he wil never sell it.
regards bob
-
hey,
i'm planning to make my a B40 trials bike, and i will mayby use the otter mk3 frame
anyone allready used that frame?
is it a good frame, and what front forks work well with this frame (also lenght of rear shocks?)
regards bob
-
hey,
wat level do you ride?
top riders have problems with the irc (it is soft and the michelin hops a bit easier) mostly in the summer
on my tlr its irc summer and winter, on the sherco i use michelin in the summer and irc in the winter.
when temperature is above 25
