hey
in low revs my 3.2 makes a clattering noise i think cam chain tension?
can you adjust it or is it a self adjusting system?
i've heart that it could be the decompressor system to
do i need to take any action on this or is there no real problem, the bike works fine and starts perfect (2007 3.2)

Hey,
i want to build a pre 65 trials bike, the bike has to be competitive on Europeen pre 65 trials.
not sure wat to choose i was thinking B40 or Ariel 500 as that is wat the pre 65 experts ride in europe, i don't want a 2stroke (i can't ride one i'm to used to 4stroke power)
but i'm not sure what's the easiest to build. I found more info on building ariels but a B40 is probebly cheaper and easier to find parts? most people say the B40 is the easiest bike to ride and a bit lighter than an ariel (over here the pre 65 bikes are no semi modern specials like in the UK)
no one rides ajs or matchless on the expert route, are these bikes harder to ride than an ariel?
i have tought about a tiger cup but they are only 200 cc and my tlr 250 is sometimes lacking power and speed (especially on the route, in sections it's ok)
so many questions any help is welcome

hey,
if you live in a hot area go for the michelin the irc is not good when its to hot, in cold and muddy conditions they are verry good,
you propably win next time a 4stroke takes some time to get used to, i changed in september last year from cota 4rt to 3.2 sherco and it took my a few weeks to get used to the new bike. If 4stroke power is new it takes even longer (i never had that problem i never rode 2strokes)

so thats with the damper adjustment screw at the top next to the exhaust?

and how is it placed on a 2007 3.2 ?

Hey,
could be my clutch was an exeption but it made the same noise as a tlr's when hard used,
it didn't grab so bad like my tlr but is is not good at all standard.
i still ride my honda tlr and i can live with the bad clutch, but on a modern bike i expect a good working clutch.
otherwise the 4rt is a well bild bike and fun to ride
regards bob
-
hey tnx,
what did you ride? i was looking for a matchless but i didnt see one
regards bob
-
hey ducman,
are you going to gressenich next weekend? and are you riding the matchless?
i ll be there riding a tlr 250 (number 711 yellow)

hey
tnx for the fast reply
those bikes are very nice, i visited your blog and was planned to copy your ariel (verry nice bike to) but they are just to big and heavy for my riding style (modern rider)
and difficult to find the right parts at a decent price.
250 cc wil not do it i' spoke to Martin in aywaile (belgium) and he told me his bsa's are nearly 410 cc
i need more power so i can take big steps (modern trial also) and also good for after event hillclimb.
the new faber frame is that the otter mk3 ?

I dont know, here in Belgium they are very rare (never seen one in use)
but i guess they should be better than the 349 and 348
here twinshock experts nr 1 choise is the fantic or the honda there are some yamaha's to but they are very modified
-
hey
after looking to bild an ariel i've changed my mind, it wil be a B40
what frame options are there? (prefer oil in frame)
i would like to bild something like Martin Wilmore's bsa (not the super special one that looks like a sherco)
advise on the engine is very welcome to i would like it to be powerful, smooth and high reving (like my sherco) and the clutch must be good
does anyone have email adress of M. Wilmore?
regards bob
-
hey Lee
i'm from gent (belgium) so i'm affraid i can't help out.
regards bob
-
hey,
to me best twinshock in stock form must be the fantic 240 and the honda tlr 250 2nd (if you can get used to it, personelly i like it a lot its my baby sherco 3,2)
the spanish bikes are from an other generation (ossa gripper not included). they are heavy and power is slow, not so good for narrow and hard sections but ok for more open sections

-
hey,
i am going to gressenich

i meant hopping forwards on the back wheel
-
hey
sorry for the uk lads but i don't think dougy wil get to 100 wins (99 is great ) raga and bou are in a different class now and then there are cabastany fejardo and fujinami so i guess top 5 will be verry hard. Everyone has his time and i think doug's winning years are over now. He can look back at a great carrier and for sure he was one of the great trials riders.
still would like to wish him good luck for sunday.
regards bob
-
hey
imo you should be able to stop hop what ever, but the sections should be real twinshock sections ( ridable and not dangerous) so there would be no need to hop the bike
in a no stop event you can hop the bike too or even do a flickturn or jump on the rear wheel (bou style) i prefer not to hop but if the section is to tight there is no other way.

-
hey,
i used the jitsie steel plates in my 2005 and they work ok, i used atf oil
but its just a honda disease same on a tlr
regards bob
-
hey
i think the sections should be just ridable but hopping should be ok lejeune did it in 1982 so why not? also bigger steps are no problem on a twinshock for a good rider

-
hey
could i try the trick whit the springs on my 4T to or would it be easier to use other engine oil what does the others use?
regards bob
-
hey,
not so sure 2t starts beter than a 4t
a gasgas is not so easy to start its a trick just like the 4t needs a special way of starting.
best starting bike must be my honda tlr starts first kick hot or cold never a problem
my sherco 4t starts good to just needs a slow and determind kick and a bit of throttle
i do not understand the problem most people have with starting a 4 stroke,
if the bike is set up ok it starts if it doesn't start you do something wrong or there is a problem with the bike
the first sherco 4t was a bad starter but that is solved now, from 2007 on they should start ok if the carb set up is good
(float height and float needle should be checked it the bike starts badly)

hey,
Martyn Wilmore rode a 2 day trial here in belgium last weekend and won it against some very good riders so i guess he is in good shape.
great bsa he was riding too the bike seemed to work very good.
regards bob
-
hey
hope that i can ride it one day and go for a good result,
but i've heart from some good Belgium riders it is verry different to wat we are used to and verry easy to lose some silly marks
but firs i have to bild me a bike stil in the "collecting ideas" phase so it wil take some years before i am up there
looking forward for next dvd and the results
