We get the Scott Trial bibs made by Scott Leathers in County Durham. They have a website www.scottleathers.co.uk
They may be able to help, although can be fairly costly.

Well......does anyone know how the ACU members can nominate people or vote for this award? perhaps its just the ACU people who decide-i didnt even know about this award until attending the ACU dinner last year.

I'd just like to reply to GIZZA5 about his comment about those women who know they are capable and those who shouldnt bother.
In the last few years that women have ridden the SSDT there has not been a women taking up last place so what does that say about the guys who ride and are'nt capable.
I say that anyone who gets an entry should realise (capable or not) that they should give 110% in the SSDT to make it personnaly worth while spending the money and effort.
Wether be it male or female, everyone who thinks they can have a decent stab at it and believes in themselves deserves to ride in the SSDT.

Hey Nicole! Good to hear from you! (Its Katy if your confused!)
When opening this topic I was absolutely gobsmacked to hear someone suggest that us girls should ride a three day event.......as if we are not capable!
I understand from reading on that it was not written in this way, but if Vix were to read it then there would be some trouble!
I agree that it is the cost of the event why many other girls do not ride, I am only able to ride by the goodwish of my sponsors and my mum and dad and as a girl it is EXTREMELY difficult to get sponsorship and even more difficult to find trials mad parents like mine!
Its not that we are not tough enough to tackle the six days but many of the girls in the UK are still at school or college so are completely skint! Maybe in a few years time when they save their money they will come along and kick some but!

I'm still hurting so much- everything from head to foot aches!
Finishing the scott is the best thing i have ever done, i didnt think i could do it but i had so much adrenalin pumpin i couldnt even stop after 3/4 the way round, i was flying...........
just wanted to finish cos i had gone through the pain of getting that far and to finish made the pain bearable!
Thanks to everyone who cheered for me- it really does help and gave me a boost!

I found the lakes pretty tough going. I managed to loose more marks than i did on 2 days in the scottish-the scottish is'nt really a clubman event as is designed to take marks from the worlds best.
However the lakes had a clubman course and should have been a wee bit easier so that the majority could have been happy.
Personally i thought it was a cracking event, a real challenge but it is a shame for all those riders who found it too hard and didnt enjoy it.
after all we ride for the enjoyment and its dissappointing when its not fun!
one thing i did find really really annoying is when the national route had an easier ride through some of the sections than the clubman did- perhaps open up the clubman sections and give us choice of riding through the national flags- for the riders who fancy it?
i know which i would prefer when faced with a biggish waterfall in the stream or a greasy horrible grass bank that no one is getting up!!
-
yeah i was going to and i was legal on the road etc cos i did my test as soon as i was 17!
-
Dont have any pics yet but maybe when I get home cos i went straight back to uni.

The Japs were a complete surprise to everyone!
They arent particularly muscularly just seem to have the same talent and riding style as the Japanese men.
They float over everything with ease and are really quite graceful about it!
Actually I'd say they are quite pretty feminine girls but have the grrr to do what is needed!

Louise was going well as were all the girls. The thing is with the european girls is the abilities of the top ten are so similar and so are the marks therefore having one less five could mean a change in position from 10th to fifth! its tough out there! I think Ray Peters was minding for Louise but a lot of the time she seemed to be on her own.

Im with Rennie on this one and agree that the ACU are fantastic to the selected riders on the training squad and the academy. I wouldnt have been able to travel to the europeans or tdn without their support, HOWEVER we are not paid to go to these events, a contribution is made and it helps but myself and my parents have put every single penny of spare money into mine and my brothers trialling career to enable it to happen. If you dont ask for sponsorship it just doesnt come your way. in January I wrote approx 20-30 letters to firms asking for sponsorship and only received about 2 or 3 replies- this shows just how much work and grovelling you have to do!
My biggest help comes from my local council who have set up a scheme in which they help talented young sports people and I have just received a considerable sum of assistance which will help me get to the euro rounds this year. In order to apply for this grant I had to do a break down of how much it cost me to travel to every event and every training session including spares etc. In the end I think the annual cost was nearly

I got one of the new airoh helmets from a very kind mr shirt on sunday morning at ssdt. its the lightest most comfy helmet i have ever had and would recommend it to everyone-its great!
-
I will be seeing you this year carlos and also im riding! you will have to watch out i might beat you! see you soon!
-
The Ilkley Grand National is one of my favourite trials, i would recommend it to everyone! if you like mud, 6ft deep bogs and speed then its the event for you! Basically you just ride as fast as you dare without killing yourself, like a mini mini Scott Trial. Im gutted cant do it this year cos it clashes with ACU training day.
-
Thanks for the advice, its really good to talk to someone who has done the same as me, every one else seems to have done cruciates! im really workin at the gym now and also with free weights to strengthen my knee up, i do this without any support and it seems ok but i wouldnt dare ride without my brace as im so scared of repeating what ive done, if im back to full fitness in summer i have a good chance in the europeans but this year after doing my knee i missed some of them and had no confidence what so ever, nearly didnt get picked for the tdn team cos of the knee problem!!!! i think girls a fairly prone to knee injuries too, maria conway and rachel smart both have serious ligament problems, both have had operations but dont seem to get any better but still manage to ride brilliantly!
-
subira,
i thought that when i did my medial that it would only be weeks before i could bend properly again but im quite dissapointed to hear that yours still isnt better properly. Its a pain not been able to crouch down and when you forget that you cant and try to it really hurts!! I am running again but only for 15 mins max, after that my knee becomes too weak and feels like it will collapse. I was advised by my physio not to run at all as its too high impact but as part of fitness training I have to do the bleep test and i cant get out of it! Ive also got a scan in january to see if i have damaged the miniscus which can be repaired by minor surgery, im just hoping i havnt done that!
-
Ive got nothing as serious as yuo guys but i tore my medial ligament in July and the recovery has been really slow and suffer quite bad from my knee collapsing and just randomly giving way. I went to the NHS and asked for a knee brace and they gave me a really high tech one and I wouldnt ride with out it its great. At first its really weird to ride with one on but now I dont even notice it and it really protects my knee.
