  1. Just measured them. 18 @ 200mm and 18 @ 175mm. measurements are approx cos i had to measure in the wheel as i dont have any out of the wheels at the moment. hope that helps?
  2. Doesnt time fly it's round 3 of the club championship sponsored by PB Trialsport this Sunday 22nd April at Stathams farm opposite Matlock Golf Club on the A632 Matlock Chesterfield road start time 11.00am. Entries close 15 mins before the start and as usual there will be classes for British Bikes, Pre85 Twinshocks, Pre95 Air Cooled monos and Trickshocks. Routes available for Expert, Classic Expert, Intermediate, Classic Intermediate and Clubman so should be something to suit all abilities. Probably the last chance to give your Classic a shakedown prior to the Scottish 2 day so dont miss the chance. There will be 4 laps of 11 sections at this very popular venue so if you know of anybody who would be prepared to observe please bring them along as we are desperate for observers and do give them a small thank you present to show our appreciation. The Club championship is starting to take shape already and this year as per our website www.peakclassic.co.uk championship points are only allocated to paid up club members so make sure if you want to score in the championship you renew your membership. So take the missus shopping on Saturday to get your pass signed and come and enjoy the fun with us this Sunday at Stathams Farm you know you want to
  3. Depends on the wheel and rim fitted some early ones had a steel plate fitted to the hub then the spokes. I've only got the 199B in at the moment but i can measure that for you if you want?
  4. Just wanted to compliment you Patrick on your standards of restoration. Looks better than new. Much better in fact. Well done
  5. Got to ask at the risk of stating the blindingly obvious cant you measure the ones in the wheels i assume you are rebuilding? If not Dave Renham does sets. For the sake of the moderators I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH BULTACO UK OTHER THAN BEING A SATISFIED CUSTOMER AND TRYING TO HELP THE POSTER !
  6. Think you will find Bultaco UK , i have no connection with this company before anybody deletes this post, do a seat for the alloy tank and a seat to suit the plastic tank as the front is a different angle as ND has intimated above.
  7. Doesnt this sum up Trials riders attitude to every aspect of their sport? A mate of mine who is snowed under with work, classic bike fabrication and modification, doesnt even bother with Trials riders nowadays as "they never have any money and always moan about the cost of everything whereas Moto cross and Road Racers know the value of stuff and know they have to pay for it. Never make a living dealing with trials riders!" his words but i know where he is coming from and cant disagree. Dont get this obsession with "promoting" trials and trying to make it a spectator sport. It never was and seeing how long it's been going if it was ever going to be a cash cow for a promoter or a "job" then dont you think it would have been by now? Dont see that theres owt wrong with it as it is. (appologies for spelling or grammar)
  8. Dont you mean the employee does what the employer tells them ?
  9. You dont machine the bushes at all in fact what happens is the 3TA legs ar machined smooth all the way down to accept the alloy sliders on the 35mm forks which have also been machined smooth to have an interference fit into the 3TA legs and are loctited in.
  10. 2100 miles but not registered. Thats a lot of livestock checking. £5000 would be over the top if it was a Majesty never mind a bog std TY more like £500 would be more sensible. Sadly typical if the deluded idiots flea bay is populated by nowadays. The companys run by idiots and crooks, IMHO of course, and idiots seem attracted to it like flies round brown stuff.
  11. You have to get the sliders machined out and the alloy sliders on the 35mm forks machined down to fit inside the 3TA bottoms. Very accurate machining needed. Definately a diy job unless you are a good machinist with access to decent lathe etc. The alloy sliders need maching down to approx 1mm wall thickness and if you dont get it right they are scrap. If you are not that skilled better to contact someone who does this for a living and has done them before so knows the score. It's not cheap but transforms the handling. Dont forget you will need new yokes too.
  12. From Derbyshire but not Ockbrook. Only bloke i know in Ockbrook wouldstruggle to find the on switch on his wifes computer so i dont think it's him. Sorry to hear you might have been scammed.
  13. Awful and deluded. Flea bay is getting worse by the day.
  14. Are your wheels in line? are both wheels vertical? if it's just the rear subframe should be easy enough to "adjust" normally just a case of overenthusiastic wheelie or an endo off a drop off. Check around the weld areas and headstock for damage or flexing paint flaking off etc. Finally get it on a jig and have it checked for alignment if you think it's badly out of line.
  15. At least the snow should stop em illegal practising ?
  16. In the real world the bike is probably worth £150 - £200 for breaking. Not really financially a viable project to make useable as it's too far gone and would cost £600 -£800 to make good. Always buy a runner then at least you have an idea of what needs doing and that it's all there. wouldnt be the first time a "bargain" had no engine internals. Generally "bargains" are very few and far between. If it's cheap there is always a reason and usually you arent as clever as you would like to think you are and the other bloke is rarely as stupid as you think he is. As a rule of thumb a very basic ready to go trials bike will cost i.r.o. £1000 to £1200 no matter if it's an old modern or a twinshock. Thats the same if you buy a banger and spend on bits or buy one thats already been done.
  17. We are straying slightly off topic i know but re the birds and wild flowers thing i remember seeing a program on the haunted fish tank about Salisbury Plain and the off limits military testing area. Theres more wild flowers and rare birds flora and fauna there than the rest of the south west put together and there's bloody great tanks and big guns going bang all the time so what harm can a few motor bike do??? Doesnt change my stance on illegal practising and i wouldnt be at all surprised if a few sections have been practised either but the onus should always be on the landowner what happens on what after all is his land. If he agrees to bikes practising then great go for it if he doesnt then no way. Simple as that. Should also apply to bloody ramblers BTW who seem to think they have the right to clomp about wherever they choose and damage walls leave gates open stomp on rare mosses orchids with impunity. Whats right for one is right for all surely? Probably not in this PC infested age we "live" in. :wall:
  18. Thats probably why most Bantams use either a Bantam or Cub hub or a billet copy ?
  19. I would have thought the ski area out of season at Glencoe would be ideal for a trials practice venue. Infrastructure already there for the most part. Just a suggestion for a budding entrepreneur. Whatever still doesnt excuse ANY illegal practising ANYWHERE.
  20. Good idea but you would still need someone to identify them. There seems to be some on this forum who think that is wrong and by their attitude obviously condone illegal riding and trespass. The is also a contingent who dont give a toss about organised competition so see nothing wrong in it because they wouldnt care if clubs were denied access as long as they can continue to act irresponsably and be an annoyance giving the rest of us an even worse profile than we have already. Simple if you know of people riding illegaly or practising for the upcoming 2 and 6 day the name and shame. Doesnt matter who it is they should know better. Sorry no sympathy for any illegal riding we have lost the use of too much land here in Derbyshire due to the stuff you antics of a few twats. Sieze the bikes and crush em just like the police do with other illegal riders.
  21. Best thing is to ring Richard and ask. Failing that i would cut them to but up and use a piece of silicone hose as a joint with a clamp either side. This would make it easy to dissasemble and also act as a vibration damper. Early Bultacos used this form of link and i have used same on my James for over 4 years with no problems.
  22. Agreed sadly we all knew at some point this would come to a head. What is required is photographic evidence, tyre tracks are no good, of the individuals riding and preferably details or photos of their vehicles then i am sure the responsable members of this forum will be more than ready to help provide the police with details so they can prosecute the irrisponsable riders who threaten our sport and let the full weight of the law prevail. Also as has been suggested a list of names of these idiots should be circulated and a life time ban on them entering any form of motor cycle sport imposed by the governing bodies. Incidentally i wish this was also applied nationally as illegal riding is loosing so much land to bona fide clubs that soon it may be illegal "practising" that kills off our sport as we know it. We all have the responsability to name and shame any acts of illegal trespass because trespass is what it is.
  23. All trials bikes need upkeep but assuming the motor is in good condition when you get it, this applies to modern and classic bikes, then just normal clean the brakes, essential on a twinshock with drum brakes, lube the chain and swing arm spindle change oils regularly clean air filter and lube cables check spokes tension chain then thats about it. If that is beyond you get a road bike and take it to a dealer for servicing. Sorry but a fact of life if running a competition motor cycle.
