  1. My old 300 pro , 2.5hr . 280pro , 2.75+. My SIL's 280 sherco 3-3.25. I always told them I got worse mileage because I climbed hills while they sat at the bottom and watched.
  2. I saw that on the news . Who was the idiot that set that up ? didn't the rider even look at it before ? SO MUCH FAIL there as to be incomprehensible . I went to one once where the rider hit his head on a speaker hanging from the ceiling , we ALL said it was a problem as soon as we saw the ramp position.
  3. That's awesome , I bet fenders are hard to keep from breaking. I keep an old one held together with zip ties for cold weather riding.
  4. Welcome , if you have ridden off-road , most people find it's easy to translate the skills to trials, if you have some help , TTC would be excellent if you can go , they have terrific video's avail. if you can't.
  5. I'l say "I bought a bike that was way head of any others at the time , too bad others were to foolish to see it" Kinda like it was with my Cannondales , FI 4T tech in 1999 , big 3 are just now getting to what I had in 99-04 technology wise. A FULL race ready quad from the factory , not buying a lawn mower and changing EVERYTHING except the engine cases & the seat. YES, that's what you had to do to be competetive racing a quad! BTW , I can still do things FI tuning wise that the big 3 are just now talking about , some after market Co's are offering , but there again it's buying ALOT of parts.
  6. From talking to him ,+ dealer/repair shop . Sounds exactally what you describe, happened messed up pretty much every thing in "tranny" . Neither said how much $$$ it was , but owner hinted about 1/2 of what he paid for the bike . Also talked to previous owner , who told him to get tranny looked at , it did take a hard hit to the shifter side, maybe hit the shift shaft.
  7. I agree if your talking heavy cutting , but seems to me most are refering to light trimming , hence the "couple mm trim" comment. Some one cutting just to sharpen edges wouldn't bother me at all I would notice a cut tire as well , wouldn't say anything unless it was heavily cut , and an OBVIOUS advantage in riding conditions , ie. very muddy.
  8. I have let 8 guys ride mine , a few more got on it with engine shut off , ALL but 2 had almost the exact same response. "This thing is SO easy to balance on" . The only negative comment was , "the throttle is too easy" , which it took me a couple of rides to get used to as well , it is easy , almost feels like it's not connected to anything.
  9. I think what he's implying is there would be no gain over a new tire.
  10. Yamer , dirt bike one was EXCELLENT , didn't really care for the street one . just my preference. I think I screwed up on my editing program , I forget the name at the moment , looked at the Sony Vegas ,same $$, this one SUPPOSEDLY had more special effects , yeah , from the 80's , not very user friendly either , maybe I just need more time on it
  11. I posted a short vid on "the general"forum of last day of the year ride. My link
  12. I REALLY like it , on 4th tank of gas so far . Throttle response is very good/quick , idle was very slow at first , it has come up quite a bit , still sounds a little slow for my taste , but no problems stalling . Kick starter didn't spring back up when new , does now, except when cold engine and about 35 degrees and colder , once warm it's fine. Both LED lights have stopped working , head light lasted about 30 min, tail about 3-4 hours , both have power to the plugs, it's in the LED it's self. The balance is what I like most , example ; I have been practicing the , wheelie up to an object ,bump front tire , turn 180 , wheelie back . I always dab once on my 300 pro , 2nd try on Ossa worked , I can do it probably 80%+ now with no dab. ETA , Throttle response is a little quicker than my 300 , practicing some 3' splatters/ledges , couple times almost had a yard sale because of the throttle response.
  13. Good luck with the uni , once I bet my brother $20.00 I could ride any thing with a wheel, he went and found my sister's old uni , nearly killed myself everyday for a week or so , till I figured I'd be $$ ahead to pay the bet , instead of Dr. bills
  14. Here's a little vid of our last ride of the year 69 degrees on Dec 31 Hope you like it , 2 views , 1 helmet cam , other cam mounted on the stator cover
  15. Nice setup ! You NEED to write mystery novels . I was thinking the whole time , "I'm sure I see trial bikes , how does he haul them ?"
  16. NICE I've always wanted to go there for some schoolin . A number of years ago we happened to be passing through there on vacation , saw the sign , went to Wally world dropped the 5th wheel and drove out. Turned out it was the day AFTER the nationals walked around a while , it's an amazing place
  17. My luck , been looking for that vid for the last 4 days.
  18. Can anybody find the vid of the Ossa doing a splatter on 2 dumpsters , one upside down on the other ? I belive it was a factory rider. I found it
  19. Update #2 Rode yesterday for about 1 hour, Kick starter worked like it should , I checked, it's clearing everything, no casting seam on the back. Idle is better , still a little slow for my taste , but it lugs WAAAAY down without stalling and comes back fine. Starting is very good , sometimes it takes 3 kicks when stone cold , when warm 1 kick , even in gear I forgot to add in the first update , 2 buddies rode it , they were impressed as well , with the balance ,throttle response and all around feel.
  20. Got to ride today for about 2 hours , here's an update Clutch is much easier to pull , not quite as easy as my 300 pro , but acceptable Idle was very slow(in my opinion)seems to be about +50 RPM from first day , still a little low for my slow for my taste , but I only killed it once today , so that doesn't seem to be a problem. Traction is VERY good Balance is phenomenal , I'd say it comes from the lower center of gravity Front wheel is VERY easy to loft over objects , yet doesn't seem any lighter when climbing steep hills. Suspension is still soft for my weight, every bike I've had has been , I set the compression to just about max , still bottoms when jumping off about 3', don't do that all the time I'm getting to old kick starter is slow returning back to the top , occasionally it will stay all the way down , it's smooth kinda seems like the seal is the cause ? ? we'll see if it gets better. head light burned out, it's got power to it , must be something in the LED electronics. Moved the tail light back under the fender , mounted on the tail piece near the muffler, I figured it would be safer there in case I broke the fender off That's the only negatives I can find , they're not much , I VERY pleased so far
  21. We had a 2000 sherco in our group that had the same troubles , it made the rounds through 4 guys in the group , each one thought they could fix it , none did , , the ONLY thing that wasn't changed/new was the line , I told them all ,I thought that was the problem all along,it looked to be some kind of plastic. Other than the brakes that bike was in PERFECT cond. Here's what I remember being replaced. 1st owner, bled brakes, pads, rebuilt caliper 2nd bled brakes , new disc, honda master cyl. that helped the most 3rd bled, pads, new caliper 4th bled ,new sherco master cyl. all that and NOBODY replaced the line
  22. As far as competition , I go to MATT in Trenton , don't get there as much as I would like , it's about a 2.5 hour drive. For general riding , there are about 8 of us that ride on our own land(4 different places) , or we go to a state park in Chadwick Mo. usually try and make a trip out to Co. once a year , Rampart Range. Rode with the Hensley's a time or two , they've got some good stuff around their place. My son just started working full time with me , so hopefully I'll get a little more time off to ride this year
  23. Took longer than I had hoped ,but it's here , started snowing just as I unloaded it. Also just rained 1.5" this week , Yeah , I rode it in the mud and snow First impression , very good , started on the 4th kick out of the box,1st kick most times after/if I didn't give it gas like I'm used to. Clutch was very stiff , like a cable clutch , but after about 15-20 minuets/some adjustments, it's just slightly harder than my Gas Gas Suspension is soft for my wt.200# , I haven't adjusted it yet , I'm wondering if my stiffer spring from my gas gas would fit? Can't think of anything else at the moment. So far I'm VERY pleased http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/4610/moto0121u.th.jpg' alt='moto0121u.th.jpg'> [/img]
  24. Ok it is NOT WD40 it is in a spray bottle that has WD40 printed on the side , why do they use a spray bottle with WD40 printed on the side , because it's readilly availabe at auto parts store and will hold up to the chem. in their SPECIAL TIRE SOFTENING SOLUTION , that is NOT WD40. The aim of the karter's is to get MORE traction , same as trials riders, a softer tire does this for them as well as us. The ? was asked before , as well as here, How to soften older trials tires ? I suggested useing the kart racers tire softening solution . It pretty much went off track with other products, such as WD40, from there. Hope that clears it up some
