Nobody I know uses wd40 , it's just a handy spray bottle that holds up to the chemicals they put through it. This ? was brought upon here before and I suggested using those products, many here thought it was silly. Guess it had to sink in a while
-
Yes , my nephew had some for MX , I tried them once when I had a badly sprained wrist , at least I could ride , but kinda awkward if you don't have an injury, for me anyway.
But if that's what it takes to go riding
-
My brother had a modified yam banshee that did it on a regular basis , it ran perfect that way . You NEVER started it up and dumped the clutch , well only once
-
Man you guys must ride ALOT ! I've had mine 4 years now , starting to get some pretty good cracking in the leather, ankle area, sloes are getting thin over the pegs.
BTW I'm happy with'em
-
I wear Acerbismainly for the arm, elbow, shoulder protection , full face helmet , gloves , knee braces(prior bad knee ,protecting the other), trials boots. I'm 47 and still try stuff I probably shouldn't , I don't ride in much soft terrain.
Lookin at some of the hits my armor has taken , and I didn't even notice , probably wouldn't be ridin much any more.
I'd rather ride a little worse in my armor today , and come back to ride again tomorrow.
I've seen ALOT of DNF's because of a very minor dirt nap , and alot of yard sales and the rider got up and finished.
WOW that image came out BIG

Update on tranny troubles , He ended up taking it back to the dealer , as he would help on the parts $$ , it was a needle bearing that failed , not sure which one , messed up alot of parts/gears $900.00+ in parts.
-
Unless you were WOT when it sucked water , I wouldn't worry about damaging anything. probably still some water in the carb , or air filter was still wet. I'm assuming you put it back on for the ride back.
BTW it's best to get them started and ridden right away to dry every thing out
-
pretty impressive , he's that good at that many things , or has ALOT of time to keep at it until he gets the shot , I'm saying probablly the first
-
I thought my 300 pro used alot. When riding trails , we figure 2 hours of pretty steady riding , and you better be back at the truck before 2 hr 15 min. or you'll I'll be pushing , seems everybody else can go about 2h 30min.
I tell them "it dosen't take much fuel to watch me climb the hills"

Sounds good I'll try and be there , don't think Ossa will be in by then
Try an get the rest off the group to come as well, finally got them to go to Trenton for a match , they REALLY liked it. first time for 3 of them
-
I have never ridden one, and I have always though the KLR looked like a heavy beast , however about every body I know ,including my Son & brother , say they are a REALLY good bike, likely the best, for a dual sport. My brother who pretty much has his pick of bikes , rides one to work most of the time.

I am
I forgot to ask , been thinkin about other things

From Mike, at The Tryals Shop , should be here in about 2 weeks , now the weather will turn nasty till May , after one of the nicest falls we've had for several years . Looking forward to it. First new bike I've bought in 30 years , I always get them when 1 year old.
-
Thanks , I figure it'll be in the shop soon , actually my son will probably be doing the work , he's head wencher , I update when we know more
-
I was wrong on the year it's an 09
No hard hit's/crashes yesterday, but one several weeks ago ,but I think it was on the right side.
There is definatly something loose in side , I don't think it's clutch related , as it seems to work OK ,we didn't run it but 30-60 seconds after it happened , just enough to get an idea wheather to continue or , tow it back , it got towed.

At a trial today , my buddies 2010 or 11 eco280's tranny made some BAD crunching noises and would lockup or jump out of gear.
going to tear it down(depending on warranty). Is there some common troubles? I've not seen any other tranny problems in our small group of riders, but have limited exposure (6 bikes, 2000-his as the newest)
-
That's why I wear a lot of protective gear , + I'm old , I'd rather ride a little worse today , and still be able to ride tomorrow.
I come from a MX racing background , the crashes , at speed , with little damage convinced me. I've seen many many minor trials crashes result in a DNF , where with some minimal gear the rider would never notice.
-
Just wondering , How much drag are you talking about, trying to move the bike when clutch is in ? or just hard to find N ?
Out of the last 5 bikes I've owned I can't recall any that were easy to find N while running , which is the way I prefer. An unwanted N while riding can be SERIOUS
-
There's his problem , it has no where to go as it warms up , thus , out the over flow
-
I would say get there early , look at the sections for different classes , to see which are closer to what you ride otherwise , but DON"T over estimate your abilities.
It's harder in comp. than it looks when waking through
If possible ride an area near a section and have an experienced rider watch and give their input on class.
My first match I did the "enter the easiest" , while fun, I got first , second had about 3x my points , I felt like a sandbagger
-
Not sure how the Ossa works yet , but on my other FI bikes a little tweaking can get you ,easier starts , smoother idling , and better over all performance.
Not that factory setting were bad by any means , but each motor is slightly different . FI can be so much more precise in when and how much fuel is delivered , some MINOR tweaks can be helpful.
Again I have NO experience on an Ossa , hope to change that soon
-
Don't worry no offence here , just thought it odd , saying a new bike would seem old in a year while a 4 year old bike would still feel new , just based on the name on the side.
I've not had your experiances with 2 stroke or 4's either , seems to me that it is mostly the maint. that causes any machine to go down faster than another , a little early in the Ossa's life to determine either way , all bikes I've had , have/had their own problems none have been perfect , although I haven't owned a Montesa yet

JJ65
Care to explain your reasoning ? Can't quite figure that one out?
-
To be fair , I don't have anything older than 1992 (3 PWC's 92-97) other toys are 2001 -2007.
My son is the head mechanic at a cycle shop , He hasn't seen much, if anything, that could be directally attributed to ethanol , most is lack of maintinance , not saying yours is , I'll have to ask about the fiberglass tanks , not sure if I've seen those , maybe I have and didn't know
