Haven't seen any of the problems that others seem to have .
I'm not saying there may be problems but I think ALOT of problems, real or imagined ,are from something else.
The main ones I hear about are drawing moisture, and oil seperation , I have a glass bottle that I filled with mixed fuel close to 2 years ago , there has been no moisture or seperation visible in 2 years of setting on the shelf.
Maybe I'm speshul
-
It's NOT wd-40 , that's just a handy spray container.
It does work to make the tires softer , if you do too much they will get "sticky" for lack of better word to describe , alot of them use a durometer to check them , different readings for different dirt
-
Don't want to give away any secret ideas but , I really think the tire prep that is used in gocart racing to make the tires softer , should have the same effect on a trials tire right?
Has anybody tried it ? Will you admit it works??
-
Actually several weeks ago my Son and I were lamenting the demise of 2 strokes , and wishing somebody would build a FI 2 stroke , HELLO , somebody has
-
Ours for Cannondale is a laptop based program , you can tweak fuel settings at about any RPM through the range , also change max RPM (at your own risk). Works extremely well when doing other engine mods , just like changing jets/needle height in a carb only much easier and faster
-
I'm really not interested in writing my own map , maybe just tweaking theirs a little , we've found some minor tweaks will make for much easier starting on our other FI machines.
Also the ability to change maps for different conditions , makes ALOT of difference on the race machines.
For example, we have a "traction" map for mud, which basically slows the power hit
a "torque" map for high traction
a "high RPM" for tracks that need a few Xtra rev's
a "dry slick" etc.
also we can make a hybrid of these as well , mild on the low end , WILD on the top. etc.
I thought, I read maps were DEALER installed only , which wouldn't work for me as any dealer would be at least 1300 miles away. I thought there was a dealer in Iowa ? about 300 miles. looks like maybe just on the coast's
-
Don't know where I've been the last year that I haven't seen this machine ! I guess UNDER a log
Anyway , I am VERY interested in buying one for my next bike ,like in a couple months.
I am used to FI , we have been running it on our MX bikes and race quads since about 2002
Is there any way an individual can remap this bike? No dealer anywhere close , maybe 300 miles.
What is the parts avail in the US ?
How has the reliability been?
Anything else I need to know?
-
I've had (GasGas) 1-99 , 2-03 , 2-04 now an 03 & 07 no real problems with any , 2 buddies had Sherco's around 99-03's no problems with them either , maybe ALL the problems were fixed before we got them , as we only get the WELL used stuff mostly. I got my 07 in 09 , the newest bike I've owned for a while.
If your at all familiar with bikes/wenching, you can spot most stuff pretty easy.
You sound alot like me about 6 years ago

IT RUNS!!!
However , I still don't know what the cause was , I was leaning toward the stator or trigger/pickup coil. I ckecked EVERY connection again, 3rd time, they all looked good and clean, still only able to get 4.5v on yellow stator wire & 1.5v on trigger coil. Put it all back together before leaving for work. Decided to check for spark at plug , for the heck of it, SPARK! put plug in started on first kick.
Now I got 10 days to test before a 2 day ride
Dontcha just LOVE elect. problems
-
Yes, I've checked it pretty carefully for any wires that may be loose all seemed good
-
Problem is nearest simular bike(that I know of) is 2-3 hrs away.
I've done some research , seems I may need to check the blk/wht wire from coil for a break. but wouldn't the stator still output voltage?
-
I have no spark, I have checked stator ,trigger coil with Ohm meter, they check good.
So it must be CDI box , wrong , new CDI still no spark , rechecked with different meter all close to spec.
I say close because I'm using an analog meter kinda hard to read the 20.x reading all were less than 1 ohm off.
I checked the output of stator and trigger coil, nothing.
What's next ? order new stator and trigger coil??
-
I guess a beta's not worth getting , We'll stick to Gas Gas
-
I have found a 1993 beta 260 for $700.00 . The owner says it's in excellent cond. hasn't been ridden for about 1 year. He will get it started before I go look at it.
I will be looking at it later this week, what specific things should I look for?
How are parts availibility? How does the price sound?
This bike will be for a new(to trials) rider he has been riding my 03 Gas Gas for about 1 yr. and has decided to buy a trials bike. Is this too big a step backwards?
-
I wouldn't .
I've got a 99, 03 chrome and 07 black, the 99 & 03 look to be in much better cond. than the 07, simply because the black frame shows any and every scratch.
There's no way to keep the frame looking decent I'll never buy another new trials bike with a painted frame.
There is one way don't ever ride it
-
I wear quite alot, I'd rather ride worse today , tomorrow, the day after that , and the day after that ECT. ECT. ,than wait several weeks between excellent rides while something or other heals.
So far I've not found any good riding places that are also good for the occasional dirt nap
for some strange reason all the rocks at my riding areas are kinda hard.
-
I made a tire rest/holder out of 3/8" rod for my pickup that moves the middle bike back 12",works good very simple. Once we hauled 5 bikes in my 6'x10' enclosed trailer ,that was tough, 3 forward ,2 backed in , the hardest part was getting out of the trailer after tieing them down
-
Good idea! I'm also wanting to put some of the smaller ones at the top of the bank on the creek bank climbs, to help prevent the rounding off of the edge, especially from the more inexperienced riders that seem to spin the edges off very rapidly. Although that seems to intimidate many from trying what is not a hard climb,3'-6'vertical,with flat top.
On similar note , I have several buddies ,very good riders ie. MX /woods, who when given a little instruction ,AND LISTEN, are really suprised at what they can do. Not that I am any good at riding or teaching Anyone else experience this?
-
I have acquired 15 logs from 16" to 30" dia. and 12' to 30' in length.And 1 large 40"+ dia. 8' long.
How should I arrange/build a good course ? any pics would be helpful.
I have plenty of space to build on .
Right now my practice area is a pond bank(about 45 deg.slope) with a couple logs 12"-16"halfway up , several 16"-24" ledges made with concrete slabs from old sidewalk ,small pile of logs about 30"in ht. , cast iron bathtub upside down , 4 tires 48"x30". laid flat filled with dirt. And something made with 3 pallets 2 sloping and 1 on top, about 4' ht.
I have a small creek near, as well as, an old pit silo(basically just a ditch about 7' wide at bottom and 8' deep 30' long about 70-90 degree side slope)I have a small log 10"dia. anchored half way up 1 slope,
That's about it ,any suggestions will be appreciated.

I weigh 170 lbs. If the stock spacer in your bike was 2 3/8" I am not as worried as I was. I will try and make a new spacer and if that doesn't work I will go ahead and get some new springs. Thanks.
-
My main concern is having too long of a shim in there. The shim currently in there is 3 inches long (not the stock one) and is made of the pipe like your were talking about and I was just concerned of how long it can be before having to replace the springs. Anyone have prices on new springs or better springs? Thanks.
-
I have a 99 321 and I am trying to figure out what to do about the front fork springs. I pulled them today to replace the seals. I had also noticed that they were sagging more than the recommend "race sag". I pulled the springs to shim them and noticed that they had already been shimmed about 3 inches by the previous owner. My question is should I make a larger shim or get replacement springs. I wouldn't mind to go ahead and replace them. Problem is I don't know where to get them. I have found replacement springs for the 06-08 pro with a 20% stiffer rating. Would these work or are the demensions different? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Here's the one we been useing at our race track for the last 7 or so years , in my research here in Mo. there was only 1 case where a waiver was not upheld. And that was due to not haveing the "negligence" part added. Also the use of an LLC will further insulate you from lawsuit, as they have to break the LLC before being able to go after individual members. And not haveing any $$$ for them to come after helps.

I didn't know they made trials tires for tractors put some air in that thing.
Looks like some fun practice,Just don't crash on the concrete.

You'll only pay more taxes if you make over $250,000.00 ....................wait , if it's over $200,000.00................... Oh, I was wrong it's $150,000.00................Well Now it's $100,000.00 ........................OK ,it's only the wealthy who make over $75,000.00 will pay more........................Wait a minute, it's now $42,000.00.
These were all numbers mentioned by BHO or Mr. Stick Your Foot in Your Mouth Joe, during the campain, knowing the Dems it will more likely end up going as low as $15,000.00 or lower. But it'll be all better when everybody gets another check for $3,000.00 or so from Sugar Daddy Barack
