  1. I had mine done here (USA) last yr. total cost was $7000.00 ,ins. paid 90%. I had limped around for a yr.,and with very little riding, hoping it would get better,it didn't. doc said I could do anything I wanted after 24 hrs if I could stand the pain, I took 1 pill the first nite just to be sure I could sleep. 2nd day was pretty stiff going full extension, 1 pill 2nd nite. 3rd day I worked 18 hrs building a MX track and running a race at a fair ,took 3 asprin. From then on I was back to normal, couldn't believe I wasted a yr. waiting for it to heal. They don't BTW.
  2. It depends on the person ,eating habits and such, as for me I can't tell any differance ,I've tried several brands several times, I have friends who rave about how much better they feel when taking vitamins. How'es that quote go "Sports are 90% mental the other 50% is physical"
  3. Alot of lower back pain is caused by weak abs (stomach)muscles. I learned this while working const. that consisted of being bent 90degrees at the waist for most of the day , making the back much stronger than the abs and pulling the spine and pelvis out of alignment. After doing ab excersices the back pain was eliminated. As others have said strong core muscles are the key. Don't just strengthen one do a balanced plan.
  4. AMEN , Seems the older I get the more I crash although much less spectatular then in my youth
  5. From my experiance ,30 yrs riding , 10 yrs operating 2 race tracks, 3 trials events ,90% of the guys that quit/don't come back are the one's that wear little or no gear. I realize trials speeds are a lot slower, but MX/TT don't race through/over huge rock ,logs ,ect. in most instances in those races when you "get off" your not falling off a 6' rock ledge onto a steep slope strewn with large rocks and trees. I haven't learned how to do my job with out using my knees, elbows, arms and legs ,I have almost mastered not using my head.
  6. Sidi boots, EVS web knee braces , Sixsix one presure suit ,mainly for the shoulder and elbow cups and forearm pads ,although the back armour is nice as well, it's amazing how many deep scratches they've got and I've felt virtually nothing. Sixsix one neck roll full face hemlet gloves I useally don't wear goggles except when freeriding in the woods, nothing like a stick in the eye when you get used to riding with it it's hardly noticable It's like I tell my son ,I might ride a little worse today ,but I'll still be able to ride tomorrow
  7. "now I'm old and limp" I hear the've got pills for that now Sorry ,I was thinking of needing a different kind of protection.
  8. Being new to trials ,from an MX & TT background(racing and owning/operating 2 tracks),here's what I've noticed. Before entering my first trial I read the results from several clubs, and noticed alot of DNF's ,I wondered why? poor maintainence ? how can you break your machine in a low speed sport? After entering several(3) events I soon realized how easy it would be to break your junk, ie. big rocks ,logs, ledges, ect. . But here's the difference I've noticed in my limited exposure, most of the DNF's ,I saw were from guys crashing, not big in relation to what you see in Mx/TT,but when you go down on a hill strewn with big rocks you don't have to roll very far to get some good knocks, I never saw anyone finish the trial after taking a "dirt nap" which really suprised me , I think a little more armour would help. BTW ,as you might have guessed I wear the same gear as I do in MX/TT , I figure if I'm going to drive 2-4 hours to ride ,I don't plan on leaving early cause of a "yard sale"
  9. Sorry I spelled it wrong it's www.plastex.net I checked ,it will connect you . We saw it last year at the" Indy Dealer Expo " they could fix anything with it, you know how those demo's go . However this one actually seems to work.
  10. It's called Plastix , www.Plastix.net
  11. There's a fairly new Co. that makes a glue specially for the type of plastic on mc/atv's , my brother has used it at his shop, seems to work very good, you can even use it to make/replace plastic mounting tabs ,or fill in missing piece, I'll try and get the contact info today.
  12. What is the recommended way to check the stator , I checked it for output before replacing the fan and diode pack, it was putting out some juice , I don't remember what exactly
  13. Ok, I bought a used Gas Gas Txt 320 and the fan was bad when I bought it. I replaced the fan with a new model and everything was fine. After riding for about 2 hours the fan quit working. I went back to check out what the problem was and found that the relay that the fan hooks up to burnt up. I replaced the relay and the new one did the same thing. I double cecked all conections and they are hooked up the exact same way as the 280 we have. Please help! Thanks!
  14. That's a good one . I saw basicly the same thing this summer, except with a pickup and boat. We were comming in on our PWC's ,I thought "man that truck's backed a long way down the ramp". The guy in the boat pushed off and instead of dirving out the truck slowly slid back in the lake ,the 2 guys in the cab just sat there until the water got up to there necks ,then they opened the doors and swam out.I felt bad for them but it was soooo funny I could hardly keep from falling over my self. Then we pulled his truck out and helped round up the pickup load of junk floating around the ramp.(mostly empty cans of liquid courage)
  15. The reason I ask is , the seller says it's an 02 ,I think it's a 99. I'll base my $$ offer on a 99 yr model
  16. Can you tell the year of the bike by the VIN # on the frame? I know most MFG'ers put it in the # sequence I just can't figure this one out **vtr379907990676** . Any help would be appreciated!
  17. Just sold my Gas Gaas yesterday, trying to decide which scropa to buy 2 or 4 st
  18. Thanks , I've looked, my shock only has the compression screw on the bottom,I've adjusted the spring almost as tight as it will go ,which has helped alot, thats why I'm leaning toward a stiffer spring. The front seems pretty good, I've put 10wt. in the left side ,haven't done anything to right yet. I'm thinking of shimming the front springs a little with pvc just to get a little more rebound. Right now there is no way I can hop the bike off the ground unless I grip the frame with my boots and actually pull it up with me,by jumping off the pegs, I can get about 3" that way
  19. Thanks , I've done that and it did help somewhat , any suggestions on where springs and advice on which one I'd need
  20. 196 views and no suggestions ?? So I'm the only one here thats over the 160# rider these are supposed to be setup for ,or most of you only ride on the road?
  21. I recently bought my "first" trials after 30 yr abcence ,04 280TXT , I rode a GG 321 and GG 125 before purchase, the 125 seemed too underpowered for me, I didn't like how I had to use the clutch instead of the throttle for the slow stuff, on the other hand the 321 would just "tractor" through whatever you pointed it at. I'm well pleased with my 280, my brother just got a scorpa 250 on Sat. I haven't ridden it much yet ,but so far I like it very much as well, also like the looks . In my opinion you can't have "too much power" if you have any sense at all.
  22. I have a 04 TXT 280 ,the rebound on the rear is to slow, is there an adjustment for rebound? I have the compression set fairly stiff to keep from bottoming , does this also affect rebound? I really think I need a stiffer spring,I'm about 205# with all my gear on, and any landing from 2'+ I bottom pretty hard, also it will bottom (rub airbox)if I sit on the fender when riding down the road. Any suggestions?
  23. How do you determine what class to enter? Here's my situation I am a new rider, had my trials bike about 2 months, I entered my first event as a novice, I scored 25 , 2nd place was 44 , 3rd was 52 , all the way to 67. I looked up some previous event scores and there were a few in the 20's with most seeming to be 30's and up.The Am. class seemed to score out about the same. Afterwards I rode a few of the Am. lines (being very tired)I would probably get some 2's mostly 3's. I don't want to be a sandbagger and ride below my level , nor get in a class over my head. Should I ride 1 more as a novice or move up? I don't want to discourage others in the novice class , but then again I'd rather not be the guy scoring 60-70's either. Any suggestions?
  24. It is a rubber device used to cushion and protect a wheel . Help me with my spelling Is this better? There is and old rock quarry about 10 miles from me that over the years was filled with reject TYRES. Recently there was a large FYRE and they all burned leaving a pretty good place to ride except since they were steel belted there are several pices of WYRE all over the place. Its very muddy at home rather than MYRE up all my sections at home i could HYRE someone to pick up the WYRE amd it would be a good place to ride. That right there is funny , I don't care who you are
  25. Thanks those are just what I am looking for, also any more tire pics?
