  1. Hi guys, my fan isn’t working either, I found a green wire sticking out of the radiator cover. Removed the cover and the short wire fell out with a ring connector crimped to one end and the other end looked clean cut. Can’t see anything obvious, any help appreciated 😊

  3. Hi, on my 315r cota I’ve noticed a green wire protruding out of the top of the radiator cover and it looks like it’s been cut before I purchased the bike. Only noticed it today, has anyone any idea what the wire is for ?

  4. Hi everyone, been working on the Montesa today, I’m all set now to ride. I think it’s running a little rich and it doesn’t seem to want to tick over when up to temperature I’ve not touched anything on the carburettor until I find out how and if I can do any adjustments. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated 😊

Rich on fuel or on oil?  Rich on fuel above idle can be adjusted at the cir-clip on the carburetor main jet needle, super easy to do and changes will be immediately noticeable. Problems at idle speed are most likely dirt, water or corrosion in the lower parts of the carburetor or the air filter is not right.  315 has reed valves that need to seat perfectly, might better inspect or replace the reeds if the bike is new to you.  If the previous owner oil soaked the exhaust packing with unburnt oil you might want to replace the exhaust packing or it will always smoke when it gets hot.

Thank you for the information, I’ve been so busy working I’ve not been on the bike, I’m in need of a right hand side rear mudguard bracket and really struggling to locate one, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I’ll do some small adjustments with the carburettor and see what results I get 👍

  5. Hi, oh dear hope you recover soon I’ll bear that in mind. Shouldn’t be too long now before bike is ready for its first outing. I’m not entirely new to trials riding as when I was a lot younger I had a TY 250 twin shock but that was a heavy bike, hopefully the Montesa will prove more nimble 😊
  6. Hi, all valuable info and I’ll check it all out, bearings are borderline I must admit so they will be changed soon. Everything else you say makes sense for trouble free riding provided I don’t fall off 😂 thank you
  7. Hi, thank you for the info, just fitted new from and rear sprockets new cain cleaned regreased everything just need to paint plastics and tank then I’m good to go. I’m a decorator so I can spray them. Anything I should look out for when removing the tank ? Filter and oil change done spark plug when the tank is off 😊
  8. Hi to everyone 😊 first time ever on here so a little nervous 😊 recently purchased a 315 2001 Cota reasonably cheap but in need of a recommission rather than a resto. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated cheers
