  1. Hi everyone, been working on the Montesa today, I’m all set now to ride. I think it’s running a little rich and it doesn’t seem to want to tick over when up to temperature I’ve not touched anything on the carburettor until I find out how and if I can do any adjustments. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated 😊

Rich on fuel or on oil?  Rich on fuel above idle can be adjusted at the cir-clip on the carburetor main jet needle, super easy to do and changes will be immediately noticeable. Problems at idle speed are most likely dirt, water or corrosion in the lower parts of the carburetor or the air filter is not right.  315 has reed valves that need to seat perfectly, might better inspect or replace the reeds if the bike is new to you.  If the previous owner oil soaked the exhaust packing with unburnt oil you might want to replace the exhaust packing or it will always smoke when it gets hot.

Thank you for the information, I’ve been so busy working I’ve not been on the bike, I’m in need of a right hand side rear mudguard bracket and really struggling to locate one, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I’ll do some small adjustments with the carburettor and see what results I get 👍
