  1. Hi all, Just looking for the part numbers for TYZ250 reeds and reed blocks. These numbers are no longer available from Yamaha Australia. I was hoping someone may have parts book or contact to help me out. Cheers, Ben
  2. Howdy, Over here in Oz, me and my mates run 42 teeth sprockets off a Sherco, on our Scorpas. Makes 2nd gear spot on for 90% of the sections, and gives a super slow first for the really tight stuff. Works well here anyway. BTW - I am after a blue or black sprocket in 42teeth. Does anyone know where I could get one?? We can only get the standard silver Sherco ones over here. Cheers, Ben r

    Scorpa Sy250

Nice looking bike - I was thinking of "reversing" the colours of my 03 Scorpa tank - have a white tank with blue stickers, but we'll see. As far as sparkplugs go the best I have used is the Bosch WR9DP. You could also try NGK B©P4EVX - that wasn't too bad either. Steer clear of the NGK iridiums (BKR5EIX) cause they seem to foul up easy - despite what they say about iridiums. I think those Bosch's are the same plugs as what's used in early BMW M3's so go to a BMW specialist and grab 'em. set the gap at 0.6mm and she's as good as gold. Cheers, Ben_r
  4. Hi all, Yes, Scorpa will have a their prototype four-stroke next year, which I am told will be the basis for the 2006 Scorpa. As far as I know the SY will be available on an order only basis - ie, if you want one and they have the parts they will make one. Whether this applies to one offs or larger shipments I don't know. As for the new Scorpa four-stroke motor - it is a %&%^^&&^. Sorry, I do know what it is but I promised Phillipe (Owner of Scorpa) and Jean-Marc (sales/marketing/export manager) that I wouldn't tell. But it is an engine from Yamaha. Cheers, Ben r
  5. Yes!! I was talking to Jean-Marc about both the 4tricks and the 250-4t trials when I was at the factory in September. The day before I was at the factory Jose-Manual Alcaraz(??) was at the factory testing the final prototype of the 250-4t trials bike (at Ales' - the world round venue). The 4tricks was a new little bike they were intersted in selling - I believe they should be getting close to being available. It runs a 90cc auto (like from a fast50) has the fuel in the main frame, trials pushbike wheels, marzochii pushy suspension and mtb disc brakes. I think it was just something extra for Scorpa to branch out in to - it seemed they were not interested in going the enduro bike route of GasGas/Sherco/Beta.

    Rev 3, Any Faults?

The only problem we had over here was electrical issues (stators etc). Cheers, Ben_r
  7. Yep, it is. Nothing like going in the Scorpa R&D room and seeing an engineless fast 50 - C90?? (for the 4 tricks).
  8. Hi Stu, Thanks for your help mate, much appreciated. Cheers, ben
  9. Hi Stu, Yeah, an Arai would be OK as long as it has the stainless buckles. Unfortunately, no one in Australia has one (or even heard of one) so I can't try one. I do know from my previous helmets that an XL Yes Dougie model and an XL Shoei are spot on but an XL NZI stratus is no good. That would give an idea - but I'm still a little reluctant to buy untried (although I did the same with my YES and it was spot on!!). I suppose a ball-pien hammer can "adjust" the inner foam to suit . By the way, does it have a removeable liner? Cheers, Ben
  10. Hey your right Nigel, I didn't even think of that aspect - but the shoei's are still dear. Where would be the best place to look for one?? I only have the equivalent of 145pounds total (inc. shipping) for a helmet (that's roughly the price of a YES - great fit but very rusty buckles!!) Cheers, Ben
  11. I was thinking of going with BVM, roughly what are the rates to Hong Kong? Also, what is VAT (I know its some sort of tax, but how much?) or am I right in saying helmets don't include VAT (something I noticed while searching). By the way, I stopped in Hong Kong for a day on my way home from the swiss world round - looked like some sensational areas to ride. Can you get in to the good places?? Cheers, Ben
  12. Thanks for the replies. I think i might get the bieffe - a friend imported one in and it has a perfect fit (XL) and they seem to be a bit cheaper than the Shoei - I have had a Shoei before and it was awesome - but its just too dear to get to Australia. Does anyone know a place with cheap Bieffe's that would send to Australia? Cheers, Ben
  13. Howdy all, I am looking to buy a new helmet, but we don't have great selection here in Australia, hence I may buy sight unseen form overseas. I am particularly after a helmet that has stainless steel buckles and rivets - as the plain steel ones begin rusting after a couple of rides in the humidity over here. Now I now what
  14. Hey scorpa fans, In the moto verde I scored while over there, someone had a 200cc kit for the 125 on offer - if I can find where I unpacked that damn mag I'll get the details. As for the official scorpa upgrades - the piston makes it 145cc (or so) and the new crank with the bigger piston makes 172cc. As far as I know the only "standard model" releases from the factory will be: TY-S125F - stocker with down spec front end and lights/rego gear SY125F - stocker with comp front end and comp rear guard - no seat or rego gear - hydraulic clutch conversion SY175F - as above with bigger piston (only) SY250 - same as always Didn't hear anything about the 125Special with 'all' the kit while talking to the boys at Scorpa - but that was already a month ago so it could well be on the cards. I believe the 160 kit is being developed in America by BJ racing. Cheers, ben_r
  15. Hello Vinnie, I am a lucky Australian who managed to get to Europe with a good friend of mine and got to do the following things:- 1. View the swiss world round from thursday to Sunday 2. Visit the sherco enduro factory in Nimes and have dinner with Marc Tessier (and see the sherco enduro R&D facility - my lips are absolutely sealed on that one) 3. Visit the scorpa factory and have Jean-Marc (the legend scorpa export sales guy) buy my lunch 4. Visit the sherco trials factory and top-fun (and score -buy- a set of gaerne pipelines) in one day. 5. Scam a press pass to Intermot and view all the show on press day - with no public among other things........ cheers, ben_r
  16. Hi all, The SY175 only runs the larger piston and sleeve but has the standard crank. The 150cc kit used by Scorpa has been developed by them and has no relation (apart from size) to the American kit developed by BJ Racing (so I am told). I am also led to believe you can order your SY175 however you want it (cams, stroker, ignition, the horn black rims, air shocks, whatever) and the factory will send it out that way - but I'm not 100% sure I heard right!! My guess is they are calling it 175 for obvious reasons (TY175 ring a bell), maybe it's big enough then for "real" men who don't ride "little girly" bikes!! I dont think its such a big deal, plenty of other manufacturers overstate actual bike size: Gas Gas Pro200 = 172cc Sherco 2.0 = 162cc Sherco 2.9 = 272cc and in a roundabout way: montesa 315R = 249cc Sorry for no 175 intermot photos(as promised) - I left my camera at work. Heres another freebie: "the only part carried over to the new 4t (from the sy), are the wheels" cheers, ben_r
  17. Note to all: The SY175 only has the 150 motor (no stroker). Cheers, ben_r
  18. Nah - those lined up are sy125's, but the 175's will look the same except with an sy175 sticker on the guard. I'll find a photo I got from intermot of the 175 and post it in the next day or so. cheers, ben_r

    Sherco 4-stroke

Got to see the Sherco 4t at Swiss world round - sure looks like trick bit of kit - and looked like it went right good too when Pons was riding it. It sure sounds a lot better than the Montesa too! The only issue I had with it was the vulnerability of the barrel and head - both sit slightly outside the line of the frame and "could" be susceptible to damage in a big crash - but only time will tell I guess!! cheers, ben_r
  20. heres a picture of the finished bikes waiting to be tested (sorry for bad quality photos)
  21. We managed to get to Scorpa factory the week after the Swiss world round (a holiday junket from Australia) - and the day before we were there Alcaraz was testing their new 250 4T - we couldn't get a look but were told the engine was Yamaha - we were under the impression that the prototype was finished and sorted (english - french translation was average). We did get a bit more info about it - but as Andy does here, I would rather wait till its released to talk about it more - those Scorpa guys were mighty friendly and I don't want to say anything to p**s them off. We did get to see the 4Tricks before intermot and a test on the new 175 - pretty snappy little beast - but I had to take it easy cause it was the boss's bike . As for the 2005SY - only the stickers/colours and header pipe were changed. Cheers, ben_r Heres a foto of me on the boss's 175 talking to Jean-Marc (sales and exports guy)
  22. Just over here in france - looking at the GasGas 250, Sherco 250, Scorpa 250 test in moto verte, and they have dyno charts - the scorpa wins on 19.1hp, sherco on 16.7hp and GasGas on 15.7hp. Flatest torque curve too - I,ll scan him in when i get home. Sounds like more than enough to me.

    Rear Sprocket

They are a straight swap as long as it is the 4 bolt sprocket off an 03 or 04 sherco. In general - 03/04 betas, 03/04 gassers, 03/04 shercos and 02/03/04 scorpas all run the same hubs so all sprockets can be interchanged (for the 250s and up anyway).

    Beta Thumper?!

Definately KTM - check the available sizes - 250, 400, 450, 525. Straight out of the ktm line-up (except 400 - but that was available a few years ago). Strange to see they went with a linkage rear suspension setup - both ktm and beta have steered away from this for years.
  25. Hello lads, I am trying to find a 42th rear sprocket for my scorpa sy, and was wondering if anybody here could point me in the right direction. I was hoping for something with a cool design like a supersprox, and I dont want a standard sprock off a beta, gasser or sherco. Being in Australia renthal, talon and supersrox trials sprockets are not imported and was hoping someone could get me some contact details for a shop anywhere overseas that might have some. If someone has a part number for a talon or supersprox, that would be cool too. Cheers, ben r
