    Sherco Jetting

    Hi I have a 2002 290 which i bought 6 mnths ago. It has never ran 100% from day 1 so ive given it a full strip down. In the carb i have a 126 main jet and a 30 pilot jet. Are these correct for uk conditions? Also if i do need to change the jetting where is the best place to get them and are jets all the same size - i.e will jets off other bikes fit as D&K motorcycles is only up the road. many thanks
  2. Ok thanks, the paint on my tank is flaking off around the fuel cap so will have to sand it down. I think a new 05 tank would be big money with the fuel tap aswell. Ill have a go at spraying it and let you know, Thanks again
  3. Hi Im looking to update my 02 290 (blue) to an 05 (mostly silver) cosmetically. I have ordered all decals and plastics needed but was have since been told i need to change the colour of my tank to silver. My concern is that if i spray paint the tank, any petrol that is spilt will react with the paintwork. Is there any special paint out there for plastics that can withstand this and the fact that the plastic may flex in places? Also a friend mentioned the idea of getting the tank wrapped in silver vinyl, as they heat it up and it mould to shape. Would this be a better option? The 05 decals go onto the tank once silver. If anyone has done this before and could give any advice or recommend any products i would be very grateful - many thanks

    Sherco Spokes

    Ive just had the same problem, sheered off three spokes from the back wheel but was my own fault for not checking them. Ive managed to get some on mail order from TW bikesport on 01784 826394. They cost 75p per spoke and 50p for the nipple. i just need a tightening tool now if there is one available? Does anyone know of a way to replace the spokes and nipples without removing the tyre?
  5. Its still there whether the clutch is in or out. Ive just pulled the plug out - it is brand new (so i was told) but it had a coffee sort of colouring on it and it was dry. Its a champion N2C. Is that right?
  6. Thanks scoobie, the plug is brand new - no colouring, and im running it at 75:1. If it is piston slap/small end then how should i go about rectifying the problem? Any decent sherco dealers about? It sounds to me like more of a tapping noise coming from the top of the engine rather than lower down. As for the revs, ill try what youve mentioned. Ive noticed thhat there is a clear pipe running from one side of the carb to the other with a slit cut out of the bottom - is this a breather or should it be intact? Also there is a small adjuster screw on the left of the idle control screw - what does this adjust? Sorry if im asking simple questions!
  7. Hi Im pretty much a newbie so all help would be much appreciated. Ive purchased a 2002 Sherco 290, got it fairly cheaply. Stupidly i didnt go to see the bike as i bought it from ebay and sent a friend with a van to pick it up. Two problems - firstly the engine has a knocking/tapping noise which increases with revs, it is fairly loud but the bike dosent seem to be down on power or smoke more than it should. any suggestions? Also when i rev the bike, either in neutral or in gear, when i let off the throttle the revs seem to stay up for a short while then eventually drop back down to tickover? Really not sure what to try so any suggestions would be great! Many thanks
