Who knows?? when/where is it?

Now i am confused The first gas gas i was around was my sons 03 200 when we got it the clutch would creep all over the place. I had the book recomended 525 ml someone sugested i run 350 cc that fixed the problem. Ive been running about 380cc in all my pros which brings up maybe another topic all together, how much oil?
Ahhh the eternal - how much oil to put in my Gas Gas question.
Firstly ignore the book - especially on a 2004 Raga Rep.
550ml is way too much and can lead to crank case leaks which are horribly hard to stop. GG UK deny the problem but I have heard and experienced (took me 5 attempts to stop mine leaking) of at least 3 or 4 2004 Raga Reps leaking oil from the crank casing even though there is no pressure in the system.
The figure given by most people 'in the know' is 450ml
When draining, ensure the bike and oil is HOT (ideally as soon as you turn off after a trial), that way when you drain it it will be very thin and will all drain easily. If the oil is not hot then it will be thicker and you could easily get an additional 50-60ml that does not drain. So if you then put 450ml in you will have too much again.
What I always did was - put in 400ml, lean bike over a few times to let the oil spread, check the oil level in the window - should be about half way up, ride the bike for 5 or so minutes then check the window again and if necessary put in upto an additional 50ml.
You should then have no problems - hopefully

When you say 'next batch' is that not 2008??
-
Slight variation on the subject - but still about Beta's in black.
Does anyone know
1: Do the 4 stroke Beta Rev4 plastics fit a 2007 Rev3?
2: Are the Rev4 plastics available yet?

Did this solve your problem??
What does putting grease on the choke rod do??

Hi Carl I'm pretty sure we got the culprit out from the idle jet. Spent about 45 minutes on Sunday afternoon - cleaning, blowing through, spraying the idle jet etc etc.
Started it - ran perfect.
Went to start today - nothing, looked at plug - very wet. Put different plug in and it fired up on 4-5 kick and ran spot on instantly.
Will remove, clean, air and oil the filter tomorrow though and have a thorough inspection of the actual air box to see if I can see anything.
Will have a look at the choke jet to see if I do have a 60 and order a 70 and 80 to see what happens.
Sorry am not sure whether it is a R9354 or R9359. How do I find out? Had Keihins on last couple of Gassers and never had a problem.

I love it (for small periods - the 7 sections it rode nicely for were great) and really want to sort it.
If not you can have mine...

Cheers for this, really dont want to go back to the Mikuni now after I know how good the Dellorto is.
As I mentioned above I have a BP5RES plug in now with a S37 pilot jet. When I first put the carb on the S40 would not run 100%, , however this was with the standard spark plug in it.
Now I have a BP5RES would it be worth trying the S40 again and trying to fine tune again - could this be the differentiator???
Might have a look into a Jitsie air filter as well.........

I got it 2nd hand from ebay, however you can buy them brand new from <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> road & trials for
-
It currently has a S37 in.
I also have a S40 but couldn't seem to get a sweet spot with that jet.

Hi all.
I now have the Dellorto carb on and when the bike is running it is very very nice.
My biggest issue is that it WILL NOT start when cold.
On Sunday at the trial I was in, it probably took 20 kicks to get it running. Once it has ran (even for a few seconds) it starts on the button every time. But when it's cold - NOTHING!!
I went and started it at lunchtime today and same thing - NOTHING
Swapped plug over (new NGK BP5ES) and the one that came out was wet, put another one in and it started 5th kick.
It seems to me that there is excess fuel in the crank, I thought this last week so ran the bike dry before packing ot away however still not happening.
Has anyone else expereinced this at all with a Dellorto Carb??
I wanted rid off the Mikuni so that the bike would a) run nicer and start uphill/downhill etc etc but this is a pain.
Cheers

Im sure you will get it one day.
Doubt it!! Aint got is sussed yet, what hope do I have?
Still hopefully the Dellorto will transform me and the bike.......................
-
Was tempted!!
The monkies @ *** (shop I bought from) shipped it without a pilot jet....................
Now got one, put them in running great!! just need to learn how to ride these Beta thingies!!
-
I believe it's possible, I hear that Maria Conway runs a Keihin on hers - not sure whats needed or how easy it is to fit.
I have (finally) finished putting a Dellorto on my '07 270 - would have been done last Monday but the shop that sold me it on ebay decided to ship it without a pilot jet!!!!!!!!!
Anyway. it's now in and it sounds and runs soooo different, tonnes of extra grunt right of the bottom, much more responsive and lighter throttle - PLUS no more fuel ****ing out everywhere when facing downhill....
Trial on Sunday so will see how it runs when used in anger.
If a Keihin does go on I'm sure it will be great, if not the Dellorto is HIGHLY recommended (so long as it ships complete!!!)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Been putting this on this afternoon - got it on relatively easily BUT................
It will not run at all, played with float levels etc etc still will not run - it kicks over then dies.
Took it apart and it appears to be missing the jet that goes just in front of the needle jet - hence wont run!
Can someone please advise what jet I need to get for this???
Cheers from a very annoyed Nick....
-
Cheers for this info, much appreciated.
Am liking the sound of 10 minutes, although I'msure that it will take me longer as this will be first time playing with a Beta - Am used to Gas Gas, half the work already done for you with them as most of the screws/bolts/nuts already loose or fallen off
-
Cheers for this, will def make this a Monday afternoon job then....
-
