First off, they changed the names of the classes from last year. They called Women's 1 Line Women's expert. Why, I'm not sure, but that's what it was called this year. As far as Ariel, yes, she has come a long way from last year, she has phenomenal balance and it just so happened that last weekend, the cards fell to her benefit. The first day I wasn't riding very well, lots of dumb 5's and she won, fair and square. 2nd day, not such a clear win. We miscalculated my time and I came in 24 min. late I had beaten her by 5, but with the 12 penalty points the win went to her. The 3rd day, I beat her again by 5, with no penalty points. This year, they did away with the section time limits and kept the same 4.5 hr time limit on the day. Many times, I found myself sitting in very long lines, which ate up the majority of my time. At one point, you couldn't get out of the exit for one section without being in line for the next. I liked the fact that they did away with the 90 sec. time limit in the section, but something needs to change for next year so that time isn't so much an issue. 6 other people had a time penalty on Day 2. If it wasn't so hot, it wouldn't be so bad, but it's not easy to ride at that level with no break between loops when its 90 some degrees with 70% humidity. The 3rd day I had 9 minutes to spare. I only stopped for 1 minute between loops 1 and 2, and 2 and 3. The first for Gatorade and the 2nd for Gas. I didn't stop after that. I guess I'll have to work out some sort of better system for Duluth...

That age would ride the 4 line. Many kids were riding that class on Xispas and one OSET. Its not too bad, but the smaller wheels can prove to be a challenge on the rubbly rocks.

I found this one in my local trophy shop about 3 months ago. They can not get it anymore though. Only one I have seen like it in my 15 years around trials. And since I can't figure out how to get a photo on here, I put it in my Avatar, so look to the left.

Sounds like a carb problem, but it could be a lot of things with the vintage bikes. Good luck.

690 miles one way for me, averaging 12mi/gal with the camper, and estimating $4.00 per gallon... That's $230 each way.
I can contact Louise on Myspace, when she checks it. She doesn't check it much. I've said we could ride down together before, I have not heard if she is going or not. If her dad goes, I assume she would ride with him. Last year she was overseas.
Is Caroline Altman still riding? I have not seen her name anywhere, not even for NETA events.

look on ebay, manuals come up for sale now and again. I have one, but I sent it off with my 72 to get worked on. I could make you a copy, but I dont know when I will get it back. I keep the 172 manual with the 76. SW Montesa might be able to run you off a copy. Clymer guides are great for troubleshooting and repairs.

If you find the correct size fork seals, let me know. I have been looking for some. 31.5x45x7.1

Last fall, Harford County, MD tried to pass a ban on off-road vehicles for any property less than 5 acres and limit the time of use of these vehicles on properties larger. I fell into the less than 5 acre category as we have a 2.33 acre parcel that is wooded. Well, the word got out and the response was enormous! So many people started calling and emailing all the county council members that their crackberries and emails locked up! After about 3 weeks the woman who originally proposed the bill withdrew it since it was likely to fail. I think they said no other bill has produced the response that this one did! So, we dodged the first bullet, and hopefully we can continue.
My background is in Environmental Conservation and I think there are many more larger problems that need to be solved before the minute amount of environmental damage caused by off-road riding is tackled.

Cope,
Yes, I was at TTD this year. Met a lot of people. I would probably recognize you by sight. It's such an unfair advantage. Everyone knows who the girls are, there aren't that many of us to keep straight, but remembering the guys... That can be a little tough!
I've gone riding with Ryan before. And I'm still working on the floater technique from his class at TTD. I've had to revert to the grass portion of the yard since my mom removed the mulch pile I had been using. It's a bit of a frustrating skill. I get it, but making my body do what my mind wants is proving to be difficult.
I want someone to go with so the 11+ hour drive isn't so brutal, and I want someone timing me in the sections. I drove alone last year, not fun, even with the stop in OH for a TI event, Cincinnati to see my uncle, and western TN to see my other uncle. I had a friend or 2 that I was able to meet up with when I got to TN.
Going alone sometimes makes me feel too much like a tagalong when I try to integrate with another group. Perhaps part of the only child symdrome?

I am coming again this year! The gas prices are getting tough. I am pulling a camper this year too. Luckily I found a nice little one that my Ranger can pull. I get about 13mi to the gal with it behind me. The hardest part is finding someone else to come with me! Other people I wanna take are low on $ b/c of the gas prices. Hope I can tempt someone enough to come and be my minder!
Last year was my first time and I too did not know what to expect. I picked the 2 line just to get onboard, then I looked at the sections when I got there and decided to give the 1 line a whirl. I also had been worried about being bored with the line I originally picked. It was no problem for them to switch me to the other line. I recommend this for anyone coming without an idea of what to ride.
I like the gate trial being on Tuesday. That way I can ride and have wednesday to relax before the punishment begins on Thursday. Just a perspective from an older/adult rider. Gate trial can't happen on Thursday, since that's the first day of the competition this year. They're starting on thursday to give people a chance to drive home on Sunday this year.
See you all in 26 days!!!!

Hoping for a good trial, wetter than last year, but not too wet!

This year was also my first time. I loved it. Got there on Thursday afternoon. Rode all day Fri, Sat, and Sun. can't beat that. Ready for our first event this weekend for sure! Loved having the Sherco pits there to help me do the work on my bike that I don't do on my own.

Too bad that's the end of seeing the trials bikes get a chance to ride with the big bikes. Our boys clearly can run with the "big boys." Bill and I were at dinner with some of the Sherco people and we heard the trials bikes will be separated out next year. So there is supposed to be a trials bike class and a big bike class. I know some of our riders plan to ride the big bikes to stay in the main class next year. Sounds like a bunch of MX whinning BS to me. If it is the case, maybe they should ban them from being able to use TRIALS tires too. But in my opinion, keep the bikes together. If trials bikes are so much better, maybe they should ride a trials bike then.
This was my first endurocross experience, and it was awesome. More than I can explain. Many people there had the same amazing experience. But what made it so amazing for the crowd was seeing all kinds of bikes out there, all in one place, all competing for the same title. Where else can you say that? What other event? None now.

Are spectators allowed Friday night? We will be flying in late that morning. Tickets for Saturday are already purchased!

That's where some of us ambitious D6 people went last year. It was mostly fun in the rain.

I wouldn't look to see us at Motorama anytime soon. Jreilly hit it on the nose. The Motorama people want waaaay too much $ for US to put on a show for THEM to make $. Oh well. If you have heartburn over it, I would complain to them. It certainly was nice to have an event in February to break up the winter break.

I ordered a Mikuni Carburetor for my vintage bike from Pro-Flo at the end of March. They told me they were expecting a shipment in and that I would have my carb by April 6. Well, it is now April 23 and I have yet to see a carburetor arrive at my house. I have called them 3x in the past 2 weeks and sent them one email. They have yet to return any of them. Has anyone else had trouble with these guys? I advise everyone to stay away from them!

I got a Carbon Fiber NZI from the Sammy Miller Catalogue and I love it!!!

I have ridden a 99 Beta Techno 200, 01 Sherco 290, and just recently bought a 07 Sherco 250. I definantly like my 07 the best. I am a little short (and a light female) and I find that I can get back better and find good traction on the 250. The power is very smooth compared to my 01, but I also put a 9 tooth sprocket on the front. I have never riden a Gas Gas, but I know lots of people have had to do lots of maintenance/ repairs on their GG in years past, but I haven't heard much about their 07.

I did own a Beta once, but didn't ever bleed the brakes. You may want to think about rebuilding your brake master cylinders though. My sherco had lousy rear brakes when I got it. People in my district assumed that the line needed to be bled, so I did. Much to my disappointment, the brakes didnt work any better. So I took the pedal off to extend the plunger. When I put pedal back on, my brakes didn't work at all. There was vitrtually no pressure on the pedal, and pressing the pedal made a squishing noise. So we decided to replace the o-ring seals around the pucks on the brake caliper. That didn't work either. Finally, we rebuilt the master cylinder and the brakes work very good now!

Many people in our district share the same issue with getting a trophy, they just dont care about them. One thing that we started doing at some of the local events is giving prizes instead of trophies. Like first place got a can of chain lube and air filter spray, etc. Some clubs have been presenting usable trophies, such as mugs, camping chairs and even clocks. Those items were bought in bulk and custom made. Like "Tricky Trialers Motorcycle Club, 1st Place." I think the clock idea might be cool for a year end award too. They were wooden with the class and place in the center, behind the clock hands. At our year end banquet, 1st place for the season gets a jacket, 2nd place got maybe a duffle bag, and 3rd got something else. Those items were embroidered with our district logo, place, and sometimes name. Of course we had to send in a form for our banquet. If we weren't attending the banquet, we could opt to have our stuff mailed to us. If someone didnt respond by the cut-off date... no award. So just some ideas.

I use waterproof grease and clean them out 2-3x a year. Pressure washers aren't the best thing. May want to put it on a gentle setting while washing in that area. I would be interested to see what other people's opinions are on this topic too.
