  1. Awwww, shucks. You guys are swell. Shaun...that could be me on Gibsontalk.com...pretty boring group, though. At our album release party, we only did 5 tunes and "Writing" was one of them. Great tune. And, JON!! You actually bought the album! Whatta guy! I'm glad you like it. Our songwriter/bandleader really is brilliant.
  2. Shameless plug time. This is where my trials riding energy has been going. The old Sherco still has a place of honor in the garage and gets ridden a couple times a year, but the cornfields of eastern PA are much more conducive playing music. Anyway...our first album is out, it's gotten some nice reviews (no bad ones!) and is playing on a few local/indy radio statios and some actual good ol' airwaves. A few folks at the local NPR affiliate are pushing to get us on a national show called "Live at the World Cafe". It's even selling pretty well on cdbaby...even a handful of overseas sales. Maybe we'll be big in Japan! If anybody is interested, you can hear some samples and even buy a copy here. http://cdbaby.com/cd/glensideallstars Y'all be good. Peace.
  3. Not that I know of. My uncle, though, was a fellow named Leonard Frey who, among many other roles, was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Motel the tailor in Fiddler on the Roof. There is genius in the family, but I only got a whiff of a shadow of it. My 15-year-old son is a REAL musician.
  4. Thanks. Definitely not a conscious decision on the Jimi, but I have spend countless hours studying his stuff, so it's only natural that he's a big part of what comes out of my playing.
  5. You know what? I don't know. He does have an old Wurlitzer that you can hear, and he just got a B3 and a Leslie, but didn't have it at the time of the recording. I wasn't in the studio when he put the keyboard tracks down.
  6. Thanks, guys. More coming soon. The album will be finished in a few weeks.
  7. It was so windy here, the other day, that one of my chickens laid the same egg 3 times.
  8. As for making a living, I meant the importers. I suspect there are very few dealers to make a living. The real surprising thing to me is...there is no action on this topic. I think a major manufacturer just stopped shipping to a major country. HELLOOOO... You'd get 1000 replies if you posted that Gasgas was going to be painting their frames green.
  9. If you go to the Montesa USA website, it says that none will be imported for 2008. I guess the 17 people who want one will have to buy another brand. I hate to be brutal, but the trials scene sucks so badly here...it's amazing to me that anybody makes a living off of it.
  10. I miss you guys (and gals)...trials is becoming a distant memory for me, but the Sherco is still in the garage waiting for better times. Here's my latest musical thing...we're in final mix-downs for our album, and we're getting lots of contact with good clubs and college radio, waiting for the album and readiness to start playing out. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...77-6f28bead8461
  11. Damn right. That stuff is loooooooonnnnng, these days! I cut it with a scythe and convince myself I'm lowering my carbon profile.
  12. Right you are! I haven't spent much time with the Glenside Allstars...just as a hired gun for recording projects, so far...eventually we'll put a live show together and take it out. I think the leader is shopping for record labels. But, when he gave me a CD and asked me if I'd be interested in the project, I immediately thought of Little Feat. Time to tune up the Stratocaster and put a Craftsman deep socket on my pinky and do like The Fat Man! For some reason, I couldn't get your bro's tunes to load...I'll check later. Looks like he's on the right track, though. The site said something about Lowell George meets Frank Zappa...it's a little-known fact that Lowell was in the Mothers! And...thanks for the compliments. Keep 'em coming!
  13. How you guys/gals/blokes/blokesses doing? I've been busy with music. Virtually no trials. I miss the scene and , of course, TC! Check it out if you have the time... http://www.myspace.com/glensideallstars http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=56668062
  14. Thanks, bro. You got the fronts? My forks get real stiff when I tighten the axle! I had to slip an Indian Chief girder fork link spacer in there.
  15. Ain't he just Charlie? Does this mean you're back? I've been dragged back! Check the "Across the Pond" section. I'm barely riding these days...a couple times a year...but I really miss it. Unfortunately, my lack of ridind and wrenching reduces my contributions to stuff like, "Dang...he's good."
  16. Nice to surprise folks by being younger rather than older! People think I'm older because I know so much! Har! Actually it's because nobody my age has a right to be such a crabby *******. I followed the Clapton/Hendrix/Bloomfield/Green/SRV line back to their influences...Albert King, Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, etc. and also found out that if you steal enough Freddie King licks, you start to sound a lot like Clapton....OUCH! As for the fat Gibson...I sold it during my second-to-last major bout with unemployment. SERIOUS bummer. Prices have spiked and I'd have to pay double what I sold it for 5 years ago, so stuff like that will be out of my reach for a long time...unless I get lucky. The Telecaster is my only 'real' guitar now, and it's a bitsa. My backup is a new-ish Mexican Strat and I have a couple funky old department store jobbies I use for slide. As soon as we get some decent stuff recorded, I'll post a few links again. The stuff you all heard sucks enough to not even really be representative of how we sound. AND...thank you all for the kind words about our stuff. We work real hard and take a lot of pride in what we do. Oh...and Jay..... Yeah....the leather trousers really help. That and a lot of For the audience, I mean!
  17. OK...this post isn't going to be as complete as the one I spent about 20 minutes composing, and then lost. Aaaaaaagggghhhhhhhh! Anyway, I'll try to hit the high points. It's nice to be remembered...even if it is only on the Trials bulletin board! Har! Yes...that's my sneaker (July 4th, 2005), yes, it was a nasty job, and no, it did not end my trials riding; not for more than a few months anyway. I still lurk a bit, but have little to contribute as trials has taken a bit of a back seat. The terrain is so terrible here, and I was so spoiled by having trials heaven right in my back yard...I just don't have the time or dedication to spend 3-5 hours driving to ride. If my son had stayed interested, I probably would have stuck more with it, but he lost interest. I'm keeping my bike and allowing for the possibility that my now-6-year-old will want to ride, but he's definitely not ready yet. The good news is, I have been sort of dragged out of musical retirement and have joined a really hot blues band. The bad news is, Blues, like trials, is seriously struggling for an audience in these parts; but the Philly metro area is pretty big, and we're finding a niche. So, guitar is my new trials, and, for better or worse, I don't really have the time for more than one hobby that requires such a high level of dedication. The biggest difference is, I am a terrible trials rider, but I am, by most accounts, a pretty damn good guitar player. So, there you have it. I'll continue to lurk and keep a toe in the water (I still have all ten, although a couple are a little ugly!), and feel free to PM me and stay in touch! For the time being, all we have are crappy one-mic recordings from live gigs, but if anybody is interested, you can hear my blues band by clicking below. A, as we scout some classier gigs, we'll have to improve our web presence, and I'll keep you posted! Keep your airboxes dry, keep your feet up and dig yourselves! Our Crappy Myspace page Our Crappy web page I tried to And...yeah...I got a job. It's a cool job, but the money is very short. Workin' for a livin' is a drag. But you all knew that.
  18. Be wary of excessive heat. I once retarded mine enough to heat the muffler so much that it melted the fender. I wouldn't have thought that that problem could occur within the range of adjustment.
  19. Could this be true? Knowing some Irishmen, I could believe it. Supposedly, during a U2 concert in Ireland, Bono hushed the audience for a dramatic moment. In the silence he startet to clap his hands, and said, "Each time I clap, an African child dies." And somebody in the first few rows yelled, "Then stop fekkin' doin' it!"
