I find C & D Autos can supply all I ever need for my B40 Wd GB engined iron horse! Tel 01564 795000.
I had the same issue when I bought mine, they recommended and supplied a sprocket/duplex primary chain that fitted perfectly with no cutting.
Good luck.
Mark

Cheers all...HCP will do it for

Neil Gaunt has got a nice conversion on his Ariel too, think he uses a handbrake cable...some nice pics in Classic Offroad a few issues back.
good luck.

Hello all...I'm looking to get my B40 stanchions repaired as they have some pitting right where the seal does its work...anyone recommend a repairer?
I've emailed Fitforx today asking for a quote but no reply yet.
Cheers, Mark.

Checked 3 bikes at yesterday's St David's trial....dBA at 1 metre was less than 86 on all three. All were 2 strokes, 2 GG + 1 Sherco.
Sound power levels reduce by around 5dBA every doubling of distance so at a few hundred metres you shouldn't disturb anyone-unless your riding a TRW Montesa like the young chap at yesterday's event, the bike had obviously been 'tweaked' with some or all of the noise mitigating devices removed...naughty boy!
Cheers, Mark.

Not sure but thanks a lot for checking yours, I've got a few pictures and maybe can take a few measurements of 'known' dimensions and scale it up.
I'll let you know what I get...thanks again.

Hello all...I am about to ship my hubs down to Talon and can't find where I wrote down the offset dimensions for the rear wheel (hub spacer face to rim)...anyone help please?
Cheers, Mark.

Thanks for that, just measured the flywheel thread, its an M14x1.5 and looks to be the same as a TL125/XL185 flywheel. I have a spindle but the threaded portion is quite short so I think I'll wait till I get a puller.
Thanks again, mark.

Hello all...in the middle of changing the camchain on my Seeley and find that the TLR puller I've got doesn't fit...any idea what Honda model puller I need?
Cheers, Mark.

My Seeley exhibits a rather annoying 'ticking'...I'd put it down to either camchain or excessive valve clearance, both of which I'm going to check when I get my B40 up and running!!
Good luck with yours, please post the 'solution' when you fix it
Best regards, Mark.

Hello fellow Honda people,
Anyone know where I may get my hands on an original (or pattern) sump guard for my Seeley??
Currently got a home made one fitted and would like to improve things a bit.
Cheers all.

Here's the gentleman: This info was taken from another posting...good luck.
Here Is RockShocks Phone Number (01543685430) Pete Eddy gave me this number at the Malvern Show.
I would like to know how much a pair for a Bsa B40 about 14 inches long would cost. I think they are a work of art compared to some.
Hope this helps.
Regards Charlie.
PS. And they are British.

Just going to replace the chain this time Scrump....going to take a look at the valve clearences as well as there is a distinct 'ticking' coming from that region!
Just been informed that my new manual has been shipped so think I'll wait a couple of days..let you know how I get on.
Best regards, Mark.

Design rights and Registered designs are available to protect a design's shape (3 dimensional)...adjusting size or making a very small change allows the original shape to be copied. When I recently registered a design for a hot food takeaway carrier I was reminded of this....
Patents are different..nightmare squared!!
Cheers.

Hello Boys...Just about to change the cam chain on my Seeley, any tips? Engine in/out frame etc
Haven't got a manual for the TL/TLR motor yet (Just ordered with Amazon) so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mark.

I ride my old banger every weekend..mainly on the less technical stuff but it sure does make me smile..bloody great bike.
And now I'm not scared to smash the lovely fibreglass tank cover to bits either, as I saw some lovely shiney new ones at Malvern this year!
marvellous.
Regards, Mark.

Thanks Smiley...will try them, also been told to check with C & D Auto (Birmingham). The motor as an alloy barrel, believe its a popular mod, can't understand how the valve was bent so badly..it actually cracked the guide as well. Here's hoping some new bits will get me up and about in time for the Bonanza weekend in June.
Thanks again, Mark.

Hello all,
I need to replace some parts of a BSA B40 I have just bought and was wondering what suppliers you all use. Need valves, guides etc......
Engine is a WD I was informed..is all alloy with engine number 7118.
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers, Mark.

Cheers lads....Thanks for all the replies, I'll keep you informed how everything goes.
Thanks again, Mark.

Hello all,
Just joined the pre65 brigade after purchasing an otter framed B40. Is there a service manual available that could give me information such as oil types/quantities, servicing tips etc?
The bike is in good condition but needs a few sessions in the 'Cosmetic department' and a good checking over...any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Mark.

The motor capacity is as original (198 cc)..the carb I fitted is a Kehin PW22.
Best of luck with yours.

As promised........regards, Mark.

Fellow Seeley owners....Just completed my 1st trial since fitting a bigger carb to my bike...huge improvement in performance. The bike now revs out much better, pulls away from low revs much smoother and idles at a steady rate. Fitted a larger carb (from a CB250 twin I believe..pics to follow may confirm), had to drill a hole through the tank and weld in a tube to route the throttle cable through (pic to follow).
The new carb is about 15mm taller than my original hence the mods. I also had to slim down the connection block to about 8mm so that I could use the original rubber connector to the airbox.
This really has improved the bike no end (I'll hurry up and get the pics posted)
Cheers all, Mark.

Keep loyal to Beta..bought a 280 Pro '06 for my lad at Xmas and had a few problems..fixings are poor quality, air box won't keep a water buffalo out let alone water. Have had to replace cylinder head gasket as oil/water was pi**ing out at med revs (3 bikes have had same problem in our centre). My lad does love riding it however, its just that I wait his every return home expecting to spend hours (and money) putting the bike back together.
Buy a new Beta.
