  1. Great re-chroming service but expensive (
  2. Timp is absolutely correct...excessively noisey machines will help knock in the 'final nail'.........noise testing at this years British champs will be interesting
  3. Yes....but don't forget to remove the wavey clip from the top of the seal first. I had to make a round nylon pusher to press home the new seals prior to refiting the clip as well....good luck
  4. Sourced from a local industrial distributor: Needle bearing - F15 12 Seal - GD 15 21 3 Cheers...
  5. Well aware of the spacer, there is enough of the bearing shoulder (inner race) to give access to a 'blunt' screwdriver. With a little skill, no damage is done.
  6. sounds like some of you have complicated the process slightly....I use an old blunt screwdriver and tap out the bearings from the opposite side of the wheel, making sure that the bearing is pushed out uniformly by tapping evenly around it's periphery. Takes a bit of skill with the hammer but never fails....honest
  7. Hard to tell whether the bike has Scorpa/Beta linkless suspension, any ideas?
  8. Got my ACL reconstructed on Nov3rd 2003, used 1/3rd of my patellar ligament as a graft. The operation was done using keyhole surgery and I was in the hospital for a total of 10 hours. I was expecting a lot of pain and was told I could dose myself with morphine when I came round after the operation. Anyway, when I finally came round, the pain I expected wasn't there (my fellow patients down at knee physio class said the same), apparantly due to the effect the recon has on the nerves around the knee. The physio got me up and about with the use of crutches, about 2 hours prior to my mate picking me up from hospital, slightly frightening but its the normal routine. 6 weeks on crutches was recommended by my surgeon as the graft is basically 2 bits of bone with a ligament in the middle, and bone takes 6 weeks to heal. Started one to one physio 5 days later (crutches used to get to the classes), where the main aim is to get your full range of movement back, ie, getting the bugger to straighten out again, and getting 135 deg of movement. This process took about 2 weeks, and still no great pain. Knee classes followed shortly where the objective is to get your knee strong again, lots of squating, step m/c work, stretching etc. Couldn't drive for about a month, but you'll get someone to spoil you rotten when you explain what surgery you had!. Well 5 months has now passed, knee definately stronger, slightly numb but pretty much pain free. Back on a mountain bike for 2 months and found it really helps to get the muscles back to full size, I will definately not be riding my Mont until Nov/Dec this year- those Americans must be super human. Anyway good luck, get a good surgeon and look forward to lots of physio. ATB
  9. Techno, Before you go sending a letter, get your dad to check your spelling and grandma, sorry 'grammer' Good luck
  10. Section 3 observer here, hope you all enjoyed the show... Just a note on Sam Conner's result- standing on top of the final climb of section 3, and with Sam was perched stationary about 3 metres from the end cards, I was amazed to hear Malcolm Rathmell (minder, ex brilliant rider & thoroughly nice bloke) instruct Sam to 'work it back, half a tyre'. Fortunately for Sam, he didn't, basically because he was wedged up against a small bank, however the same instruction further along on section 6 resulted in Sam receiving a costly maximum. Strange but true. ATB, MG
  11. I made myself a stainless steel copy of the original alloy link arm, it takes more of a pounding and the bearing seal tends to stay round. Anyone need an Autocad drawing let me know.......Cheers
