  1. I think it looks fantastic, especially since it is a little bit reminiscent of the Lampkin Techno replica, which I always thought was a really good looking bike. Red has always been my preffered colour on the Betas..The worst one ever I think was 2001 Dont like the black of 06 either, think it looks really messy in no time. Anyway..there we go...now I wont check this thread in case you all disagree with me!..then I'll feel like I've had the final word
  2. mmmmm...interesting stuff... Its always fun to see how patriotic or not people are....BUT..I think its not really about that. Firstly I agree, wherever you go, its upto you to make the most of it....BUT, I also agree that there is a massively different vibe at different clubs, that is certainly the case here in UK..(in my humble opinion) There is a very good chinese saying that is worth remembering though.. "Wherever you go, there is a full moon" And for those of you that know how important the moon is to the Chinese, that will mean even more. Whilst Im on that subject...heres my maybe slightly unusual slant on things. Here in UK, I can ride a comp. every week, different venue, plenty of observers etcetc.... When I used to live in Hong Kong, there were about 5 comps a year, and only 2 or 3 venues to ride at.... BUT....for FUN...hong Kong was by far the best..... BUT..(yes another but)....for variety, and improving my riding, it is better here in the UK. As for standard of riding...well thats another interesting one. Ive seen riders here in UK, wowed by someone going up a six foot near vertical step, that in HOng Kong, they would think NOTHING of...and they are VERY VERY good at it. BUT...(another but!!!)...if you gave them a muddy camber, they'd be way behind the brits. OK...I'll stop waffling...sorry for going off subject. Good luck Mr Clean, wherever you go.
  3. sorry to see all the damage you caused guys!.. Still...at least it shows that you're both trying eh!!!...very trying some might say
  4. Yes...what a fantastic trial. Excellent venue, excellent sections..and some excellent riders. Personally I reckon a really good rider is gonna ride well whatever he is on, so hey...lets all have fun, whatever everyone else is riding. It was a real joy to see Nick ???? ride round on his TY clean all day...wow..what a rider...he certainly doesnt need to be on the latest piece of bling does he!!!!!!!!!
  5. I've had one of those snap as well...fairly easy to overtighten them. But...dont panic..just give your local Beta dealer a call and Im sure they'll sort you out with a new one.
  6. what d'ya mean MIGHT pitley....IF I end up moving up there you better make sure it DOES run again. I'll be holding you too it!!!!!!
  7. What a great day at Hook Woods, 3 days ago for the Old Boys Trial. Many many thanks to all those involved in organising it...I had a fantastic time. Does anyone have a link to their website?..or a link to the results?....thanks in advance if anyone does.
  8. Im quite sure they will. I have a 280, and a mate of mine, (Nathan)...who will probably be reading this..has a 240, and whenever we have ridden together, I havent noticed any differences, apart from the engine size. Chasis, plastics etc, appear to all be the same size. Shouldnt tell you this coz I could do with some spare plastics too , but i THINK that Gorden Farley??trials shop had some spares on the shelf....pretty sure thats what someone told me a while back.
  9. Good choice...sure you'll have many happy hours on that

    Rev3 03

It was nothing to do with my riding style Kev...honestly
  11. OK...cheers again everyone.. Maybe I can buy yours John when you buy a new 07 one!! Thanks r2w...will read what Kev said soon....I definately appreciate your comment since I know that your opinion is very reliable. Dont really mind what I get though...and would certainly be happy with a 200..just depends if a nice tidy one turns up. The only one I dont really want is a 270..MAYBE my ridings better now?..but when I had that it felt like I was always chasing it..my body not being fast enough, etc etc. No..havent tried a 125..but would love to, just to make my own opinion on them. Cheers again everyone
  12. mmm...and I always thought the 03 was the most poppiest sounding one.
  13. bugger...thought you'd forgotten that Heath...
  14. Mmmm... thanks everyone, this certainly has been interesting reading. Basically its good news for me...it means I can expand my options when looking for a bike. I will only buy a Beta, but previously I wouldnt have considered a 125. Now I definately will consider anything from a 125 to a 250. Really just want something in good nick..so depends what comes up first. I guess the race kit could also be fitted to an 05 as well as an 06??...although I get the impression that the race kit was only available fairly recently?? Keep the info coming... maybe I've started something here. And yes Alan,....luckily even though Im in my mid thirties, I;ve managed to somehow keep the weight down. Giving up drinking probably helped..(not my choice)!!!
  15. any info is good info.,,,,cheers sean!
  16. Beta120690....do you have the "race kit" fitted to yours??..I believe it even includes a different carb??...what year is your 125?? Agree with your points also BigJohn....just havent seen any 200s for sale down here recently. Seem to be a few 125s though Back to Beta120690...if you do have that kit fitted...how much difference do you think it makes. And finally...not that it really matters much to a rider of my ability...but is the 125 a lighter bike than the 150...I guess not since its still the same frame etc right?

    Rev3 125

OK...here goes..maybe a stupid question..but then I often ask the stupid ones. Saw a guy a while ago putting in a VERY good ride on a GG125 at a trial...and it got me thinking about the Beta 125's......(also, there seem to be plenty of Beta 125s for sale at the mo. and Im in the market for a bike)...all the 250s etc. I've looked at so far have had very hard lifes... Anyway..to try and get to the point. I'm JUST over 10 stone in weight..so there are probably a few teenagers around at the same weight as me. Would a Rev3 125 be worth considering??...I'm not a great rider...kind of a 50/50 rider in a typical South midland mud-fest I believe there is also a "race-kit" available for the 125 which gives it a bit more puff. SO....let me have it...am I being crazy considering it.???
  18. hey...good man barry..best thing you can do to a beta in my humble opinion...but dont forget where the ideas came from!!!..reckon I was the first r2wer to not have a weight on my Beta ...dont tell Heath that though!!! AND..pleased to see you tackled that slab etc....I still havent plucked up the courage to do that one
  19. Yep...unfortunately but if it gives me hero status maybe I should continue to do so!! Personally I think it labels me a bit funny in the head rather than anything else. Looked at several Betas already...but havent found one that hasnt done the SSDT or something like that yet..never mind keep searching eh!
  20. nice reply r2w....having said that, there aint many nice shiny bikes for sale down my way...unfortunately
  21. yes...good point John.B.....sorry..think thats my fault..lets keep it on track. Speaking of which..I remember my mates 01 Sherco being very rattley etc. but, to be fair, it did keep going fine for a long time...so maybe its oK??
  22. I agree with betarev3....it does seem that alot of those old Shercos get a bit rattley sounding...but theres always other bikes around eh?...why not try a beta?? ........ooops..I'll have started something now!!!...please dont tell me off anyone...not really trying to start a "this bike is better than that one" debate
  23. No worries...he'll do it!! ...AND again at Hawkstone
  24. Mmmm...I wish I could think of something witty to say...I just cant stop wondering if you're pulling my leg r2w..or should I say OUR LEGS. Somehow though I think this thread is not gonna get anywhere close to talking about rear brakes ever again!!!!
  25. Nice to read some good old banter on TC again. Nothing like a bit of disagreement!
