  1. Hi Jay I visited a shop in Italy 2 years ago and they had brand new Garelli fuel tanks in stock. I have a friend going to the shop next week.......let me know if you want one and I will try and organise it (provided they are still there!!!!) Also get a list of what other bits you need and I will fax them beforehand. Martin
  2. Jack Burnicle also commentates on the World Superbike Championship for Eurosport. I am mates with Steve Martin, who is riding for Foggy next year, and have been helping him restore his TL320 SWM back to its former glory. Steve told Jack all about this......and every round last year, had an update on the SWM project !!!....pity, as none of the roadies would have a clue what he was on about!!! Martin

Agree on that Original....looks like someone nicked the front end off a Beta for this one! Original...as you are an ex JCM pilot......were the Europa's and SR's ever used at World Championship level, and if so who was riding them? I remember Coutard riding the 323....but cant think who was on the later stuff. Martin

Thats correct the Weekend did have the drum rear disc front and was red...it also had the fuel tank under the seat. If you look at the photo that coflet has supplied, the bike has drums front and back, conventional tank and the larger barrel....see this photo of a Europa and check out the different frame aswell. Also t-shock250......when are you gonna get that Jumbo motor in your bike? Martin

Gonna chuck the cat amongst the pigeons on this one!!!! I dont think you have a Europa or Weekend......but the very first 323 JCM. See attached. Martin
  6. A mate of mine was a top 10 ranked motocrosser on KTM's back in the mid 1970's. He crashed and broke his right wrist early in the season, it was pinned and movement was very restrictive. Easy solution....fit a left hand throttle, he finished the year in 6th place!!!!!! Unsurprisingly, there were many injuries caused when other riders tried out the bike !!!! Martin
  7. Have you had a ride on both of those aswell Stu? I've tried both versions of the Scorpa and other than the name I dont think there's anything the same. The differences are indicative of trials bike development over that period of time...compare say a Beta Techno to a Rev3 or a JTX270 to the latest Pro and they are all different to ride. Martin
  8. Monty!!!!! Sorry if our ramblings have rattled you.....but duckwizards original questions had already been answered. Thought the whole idea of this forum was to generate discussion, if you prefer it maybe we should keep the answers short and to the point...lets say restirict replies to no more than 2 maximum! Chill out mate...its only a bit of fun! Martin
  9. Johnny He's still got a few Bulto's lying around.....many of which haven't been washed since you saw him last! Still an excellent rider and very enthusiast clerk of the course for the "W of England" national. Was regularily winning on the 340 in the South Western Centre twinshock chapionship, but when I spoke to him on the phone a few months back he seems pretty tied up running the farm....which was preventing him from riding. Martin
  10. [i think the number of people actually riding these bikes in the ACU Classic rounds, with any degree of sucess, speaks for itself really! ] HondaRS, I think you will find that Anthony Rew from West of England club was British Classic Champion a couple of years ago on a 340 Bultaco and it was by no means trick.....or for that matter well prepared!!! Martin
  11. Might be wrong on this, but didn't the last Climbers have a hydraulic clutch fitted as standard? If so, start contacting the bike breakers or old Aprilia trials dealers. If you can find one, it would probably fit straight onto your bike.

    Grimeca Hub

Matty What bike is it fitted to at the moment? Whats wrong with the hub? Have you got a photo you can show us? Thanks Martin PS. Just found a picture of an Italjet 250....this had Grimeca hubs that were painted white.
  13. Thought they ate Vegemite down under not Marmite!!! Cant be from Oz then! Martin
  14. Hi All Attached is a photo of a front mudguard from a Jumbo SWM. They were a universal guard with 3 flat sides rather than a rounded section. They are not stamped with any logos and were used on several other bikes including Armstrong Monos, early air cooled GasGas and even the RTX. I have recently seen several bikes with white versions, but no-one seems to know what make they are or where they got them from. Has anyone any idea who manufactured these and if anybody is still selling them in any colour. I have checked and dont think they are Acerbis or Gonelli......any other ideas? Thanks Martin www.motoswm.com

    Is It A Tlr?

Where did you buy it? I saw a TLR advertised in the UK recently that was fitted with an XL185 motor which had been bored out to 200. Was it this one? Martin
  16. Ah Penny Lane....The Beatles.....John, Paul, George &............RINGO !!!!
  17. SWM Jumbo's used 38mm Betor forks on the 1984 model......maybe a set of those has ended up on your Bultaco? Martin
  18. So what do you reckon is the most competetive bike at National level then? I have lost the results of the Torridge round that I rode in back in the summer, but there were three TLR's that finished in the top ten....none of which had been modified much. I think when you get to National level, the rider is more important than the bike......put the top three riders on the worst three bikes at the event...and they will still probably beat everyone else! PS. HondaRS what you riding at Somerton on Monday then? Martin
  19. Not sure what all the fuss is about "modified" Pre65's. I can talk from experience......I rode one in a trial once! It was the maiden outing for a Trials Cub that my dad had "modified" for a friend, it cost a fortune, had every alloy trick component money could buy and everything worked superbly. It did however have a standard frame, standard forks, 200 motor and the original hubs. My overall opinion....a
  20. Take a look at www.trialclasico.com they have original Montesa stays at 30 euros or the complete alloy guard with stays and mudflap for 100 euros. May take some time to find your way around there site though!!! Martin www.motoswm.com
  21. I think you will find that the prices of all twinshocks are begining to creep up!
  22. Tim....the linkage system Marco designed eventually ended up on the SVM's, but the bike shown was up and running while the SWM factory was still in business. They even produced a water cooled version of this bike!!!!!! Here's a close up of the shock mounting, unfortunately I dont have a close up of the linkage. Martin
  23. Inspired by the photos of Big John's "works" Honda that were posted recently, I was wondering if anyone had any full works bikes or one off prototypes that never made it to mass production? To kick off...here's some photo's from Italian engineer Marco Mantovani. Back in 1984, Marco was asked by SWM to develop mono system for there 350 Jumbo. It was never produced, as the factory went bankrupt shortly afterwards. The twin disc set up was a few years ahead of its time when compared to say a Fantic 303 of 1987 vintage. Anyone else got anything interesting in the corner of their garage? Martin
  24. Did you find a piston for the Cagiva? Martin
  25. Was this the bike advertised a while back on ebay?? I spoke to some contacts over in Italy and they said that there was nothing new or pattern availble for the DG350. However, measure up your existing piston and ring Steve Reilly at PB engineering in Bristol on 01179 412300 he may be able to help. Steve has about 2500 pistons cross referenced on his computer and its possible that a kit from something else might fit. You will need to measure the outside diameter, pin diameter and gap between pin and top of piston. Good luck Martin
