    Rusty Nipples

Lovin' it ! Paint them silver and save yourself a lot of grief. The new ones will rust as well (in time)! GJ
  2. Got to agree with Mr Cope. Unless you're building a show bike then you can guarantee the frame will get scratched or damaged and trying to disguise a blemish on either of your chosen coatings never works very well. A good paint job will look just as good and any unwanted scuffs and dings that occur can be blended in pretty easily without recoating the whole frame? Most modern paints and lacquers are pretty hard wearing if thats what you're concerned about and probably a lot cheaper too? Clear adhesive protection applied over the obvious wear spots is also a good idea regardless of what finish you choose as there's not much out there that wont suffer from continuous abuse. Nice to see some photos when your finished? Cheers, GJ
  3. Stumbled on this while looking for some rearsets for my Bonneville project! It's just so damn easy to get side tracked on t'internet Clicky linky (won't do the insert media thingy?) My apologies if it's already been linked, I must have missed it? GJ

  8. Have you had the carb off for a good clean / blow through? A 50:1 pre-mix or change of oil shouldn't cause the symptoms you're describing? GJ

  18. Codge - Mr Copes word of the year and what a fantastic word it is too! Reading the difference in opinion between Ormplus and Mobbster, Smallboy is now probably wishing the question was never asked. Don't worry about it, that's what forums are all about. The banter can get a bit heated at times but at the end of the day we are all individuals with our own opinions and express them we shall. Even if you're Dr Who and have been fixing things with your sonic screwdriver for over 900 years someone will disagree with you - guaranteed. What a boring world it would be if we all agreed with each other eh? So you now have choices (IMO); Leave the cover as it is and remove it regularly and let it all dry out. Drill a hole in the bottom as a drain (also works as an inlet with the vacuum effect mentioned earlier. Only use WD40 if you regularly remove the flywheel for cleaning. An electrical specific protector like Copey mentioned is the best bet. Drill a hole and fit a breather tube up the frame (seen this done on quite a few bikes) Try sealing the cover in place with something (codge?) (Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't). Personally, I do the regular removal, blow out with an air line and spray with ipone protector, leave cover off until thoroughly dry - school of maintenance. Other opinions may vary - always read the label. GJ
  19. Sounds like a whole biking family - excellent Anyhooz, welcome to TC and best of luck with your future trial riding and bike test. GJ

    Worst Luck

Just unlucky I would say? My one is rattled off rocks, trees etc on a regular basis and is still intact after 3 years! I always carry a spare though just in case? GJ
  22. Bou is awesome - there's no denying it but Jacks crash could have been REALLY nasty ! Ouch ! Thanks to Andy for all the vids and photos - this event alone is well worth the fee for being a TC supporter ! Cheers GJ
  23. Steve, plenty info regarding this if you do a search or post it as a new thread? I personally change mine at least twice a year (2 stroke) - 4 strokes are more frequent. Hugh, everyone has their own opinion on what make/model etc they prefer. If you can it's always best to try before you buy? They're all good these days but my personal preference is Gas Gas plainly because I like the way they handle/feel/operate. Test riding a few may help you make your own decision? Set yourself a budget and take it from there. Have a look on the web, e-bay etc and you'll soon discover the average price for the average bike of the average age ?? Remember to include riding gear in your budget because if you don't already have some the new prices may shock you? I personally wouldn't walk away from a bike just because they've admitted the oil hasn't been changed much? Use points like this to your advantage. If the bike looks reasonable then getting
