  1. Yep 'Tis the way it was designed, don't worry 'bout it. GJ
  2. I've used the soldering method quite a few times but mostly on road bikes (inside the panel where its not seen). Works fine but not very strong. Be very wary of the fumes though ! Cyanide really isn't good for you !!!! I've 'hinged' a few back mudguards or used tie wraps on past trials bikes (when I was skint), easy to fix when it breaks again ! GJ
  3. Hey Gizza5, you can chuck as many tyres that are better than that one at me if ya want ? I'll even pay the postage G'wastenotwantnot'J
  4. Must admit, after watching the I was very impressed . It would be nice to hear a bit of feedback though? Someone out there must have one ? Methinks I'll have a wordy with Mr Dealer and see wot kind of px he'll give me on my 4RT? Looks like the ideal in-betweeny bike for a good day out. GJ
  5. Keep an eye on it Kot ! Mine lasted 12 months from new before going into self destruct mode ( in the middle of nowhere of course) ! Nice bit of bling on the gasser mate I'm gonna shed about 6kg off mine (diet starts tomorrow) GJ
  6. Biased opinion - Gas Gas every time ! Non biased opinion - Both good bikes. At 7 years old, both will have seen a bit of action so let your eye decide. Go for the one that looks to have been the most cared for. If you have loadsa money opinion - Buy both, then you'll have a spare ! The wifes opinion - New kitchen/decorate/change the car/blah blah blah Whatever you go for..........have fun GJ
  7. Oh no ! Rumbled ! Will the SACU take my licence away ?????? PIES I've been a member for lotsa years but I'm clean now (wish I could say the same at the end of each section) !!! GJ
  8. Have a looky at the videos HERE. They take a while to download/watch but are well worth it and will hopefully help in your decision to DIY or pay
  9. Have you checked the woodruff key that holds the rotor timing in place ? Always a good place to start if everything else seems ok. GJ
  10. I'm very lucky in that respect, Mrs Wife (well almost, the wedding's in April) has her own bike so is just as passionate as I am about all things two wheels ! It's all the driving thats bugging me. I want to go to both but the lack of motorways up my neck of the woods makes car (Landy) travel a pain in the proverbial. I'd take the bike to the show but my son wants to take his girlfriend ! Bl**dy teenagers !
  11. Help me make a decision here guys 'n' gals.... Do I endure the 400 mile round trip, 6hr driving, mad traffic and crowds etc to watch Steve Colley at the Scottish Motorcycle Show on the Saturday (and perhaps spend a bit on 'goodies'). Or, do I stay at home and get a bit of practice and prep the bikes for the club trial on Sunday ? Sensible suggestions appreciated as I don't have my rational head on right now (or any other time come to think of it) ! GJ
  12. Definitely a cable nipple. Don't chuck it out, very handy GJ
  13. Hey Cope, do you mean like one of THESE fine French made things ? Let the race begin ! GJ

    Tasty!

My apologies I think I was expecting a huge photo ? Expectations to high as usual
  15. gjbiker

    Tasty!

Excuse me for perhaps being a bit daft but WHAT is lovely in white ? My French only gets good after a litre of red ! GJ
  16. Well I wish them the best of luck ! The way I see it (my personal opinion) is that the more competition there is between manufacturers then the better it'll be for us, the consumer ? (hard hat is on, awaiting the flak) GJ
  17. I'd go with Big John on that one. I'm not a Beta man but I've seen this problem at trials and it's raised it's head on here a few times. If this is a manufacturing fault then surely a recall should be on the cards ? Don't know the full ins and outs of the problem but if all you Beta owners kick up enough stink then the dealers should get something done about it ? GJ
  18. Thanks for plugging the poll Tilertrialler (Clicky here) the more votes the better ! I run my TXT 280 on unleaded without any problems, so save a few pence and go for the cheap stuff. Normal unleaded is 95 ron which the previous post says Gas Gas recommend anyhooz. If you have a keen ear and think you hear a bit of 'pinking' or 'knocking' then try Super unleaded at 98 ron and see (hear) if the noise goes away ? GJ
  19. No worries Peter, I'm trying to hit 100 votes to make it (sort of) statistical ? Spread the word. Like yourself, I'm old school and use 50:1 with mineral oil and 60:1 with fully synthetic (reasoning? synthetic is more expensive so if I use 60:1 I get 1 free bottle for every 10 I buy) ! Scots through and through and of course I'm not being serious. There are many reasons why people chose their prefered ratios I suppose but I'll stick with mine, it works for me. Hope the weathers nice in NZ, it's tropical up here in Jockland ! GJ
  20. Hope you took part in the POLL Peter ? Us richer mixers are being whipped by the 80:1 boys ! Opps ! Sorry Jay Very rude of me to butt in on your intro..... Welcome I'm on my 4th 280 and they've all served me well. Have fun GJ
  21. It'll be interesting to see how much it sells for ? Also seen these karting ones, I believe they attach onto the HT lead ? GJ
  22. You could whip off the rotor cover and use one of THESE ? Seems a cheap enough solution to what you require ? Might even buy one myself at that price GJ
  23. Wet feet mate That explains having too much time on my hands eh ? Poll seems to be working pretty well, quite pleased with the results so far. I set up the Gasser carb with the cheap stuff but I might treat my new addition to the family (4rt) to Sooooper dooooper unleaded (Any comments Montesa fans ?). Saying that, dunno if I'll keep it ? It's like going from a four pot to a V twin, might take a bit of gettin used to ? Sorry, I digress.......... on with the poll GJ 90 votes, another 10 and we're there..........
  24. No worries Zippy, my sarcasm doesn't quite translate to text very well ! Thanks for the compliment, I'll pass it on to the youth who will no doubt grunt like a 15yr old does and say something like ' what's for tea?' or 'can I have a fiver to buy.......' ! GJ P.S. Good results so far, keep 'em coming. It's quite a close battle, more stats needed for a landslide victory though !
  25. Oh oh here we go again.......... 13.7482 ml (or therabouts) painted on with a painty brush wrap in Mrs Wifes finest t-towel and squeeze out excess tickety boo GJ
