  1. Some great responses from everyone, kinda like demystifing the stuff the works or guys in the know use.Shows really these relatively cheap hi tech gadgets we ride can be worked by mere mortals with a bit of knowledge shareing, particularly in this age of warranties with workshops and manufacturers telling us "you don't wanna do that" scare tactics.Surprising the confidence it gives knowing the bike you fettled your self and understanding how all those components work together gives you when you've finished the the trial unless you have your own personal "Kev" of course, then you can just get on with just being shagged out. Still like to know the life expectancy of the Pro clutch with regular rideing, does it let you know,is there a recommended life span? H
  2. W makes sense, just sounds scary haveing never attempted takeing a clutch apart, any clues to the life span lets say with weekly use of plates before they drown in oil,and does the hydraulics have to be rebled after removal?More questions on request! Many thanks
  3. Told you it was a big place, apart from the fact French clubs don't seem to put on events as frequently as UK clubs after the holiday season in July August things take a while to get back to normal...like October!!C'est la vie! I'll check if there is anything going on over the border for you it's half an hour from where you'll be.
  4. Argeles nice area have a look at Collioure just down the road,as far as I can tell there's nothing much on down in the Languedoc or Midi Pyrennes around that time the nearest being in the Aveyron near Castres seriously miles away from where you going to be.The best bet will be on the 19thSept,the Trial Urbain in Cahors is awesome an arena type trial held around the town centre with Raga,Cabestany Fajardo Colley Jarvis etc, have been the last 2 years and has a great vibe a must see,saw the Montlucon event last week with blue sky loads people great atmoshere. If I find anything of interest I let you know,a ride up to the centre of Andorra could be a good trip theres a couple of good bike shops for cheap swag if you need anything,"need"!!! DR Nick let us know when your around I'm about an hour n'abit north of Toulouse you could get a fix on the GG.
  5. Where abouts in the South are you going to be,I might be able to narrow down a trial near you.I live in the SW and my local trial this weekend is nearly 4hrs away,it's a big place.I have most of the French sites on my Favourites so I might be able to point you with a bit more info.Still looking for an autre trialliste Anglais liveing in France to swap notes with, know anyone?
  6. Still playing around with setting up my 03 250 Pro I'm curious to know what suspension settings people are useing.I about 11 stone/70kg with kit on have my rear shock set standard 140mm and been trying my front end at C 1 click R 2 click. After 10+ hrs of rideing I'm reckoning the springs have settled but still finding the bike hard work to move around hopping etc, maybe I just need to work on my s**t technique before I think about changeing oil and lighter spring.I've frequently watched lighter riders than me like teenagers bounceing around with ease on similar bikes,I know technique plays a big part in moveing the bike but am interested in anybodies input all the same.
  7. Found this link for you giveing some details,I live down in the SW and am trying to get into the French trials scene have been to a couple of local trials and have details of joining some clubs, but am interested in talking to any other Anglais rideing in France. www.trial-club.com/385.0html Paul

    Carb Set Up

O.K. I've had the 250 Pro 03 a week now found muscles I forgot I had, done my own PDI checked everything, changed the oil,am useing Motul 10/30 400cc.The question is any advice on correct carb set up,I'm running as delivered it seems to run clean but can be difficult to start when hot. Also cured the bad design kickstart fault when the kick jams into the footrest, with a cable tie in the footrest and one on the kick[bodge it n' leg it]why does a state of the art bike get sold with this problem? 03 Pro

Thanks for the response JTT,I bourght the 600 pre-mix so will maybe try the scooter mix next time for comparo, which brand of ATF do you use out of curiosity?I'm going with the Motul 2T gear box for the first couple of changes but clean oil is my routine in the road bike too. They didn't give me a hand book yet with the bike any tips on base setting for suspension would be helpfull after I've stripped it down and glued me nuts,so to speak. 03 Pro

I pick up a new 03 Pro tomorrow haveing px'd a road bike[long story] but the last time I road was nearly 4 yrs ago and can't believe how technology has changed.I need some really basic advice on pre-mix the dealer I'm useing stocks Motul and has two types on offer 600 & 800 is one or the other prefered and is 80:1 the best mix for running period. Also how many hours running time before I change the gearbox oil,400 cc seems to be the correct amount with 10/30w any comments? This stuff is probaly in the handbook but I'm buying in France and from experience things get lost in translation[like my mind, frequently]. Went to watch my first French trial down in the Pyrennes a couple of Sundays ago and thought hey "I could do that....again" at your age the missus said. Paul
  14. Hi,I have been liveing in France for 2yrs now about an hour north of Toulouse and over recent months have been looking into the French trials scene with a few to buying a bike after a lay off for 3/4 yrs.The main man in the Midi-pyrennes is Denis at his shop called Trials Shop on the rue de Castres on the out skirts of Toulouse,he doesn't speak Anglais and has a strong SW accent but is the toulouse club mainman.Another good source for info is www.trial-magazine.com ,trials don't seem to have the regs columns like TMX,so you need to contact people by phone to get info, kinda scary depending on your language skills.I have yet to see a local trial apart from the Cahors trial in the town center in Sept, seen it twice now,but to see Raga,Fujinami,Colley and Jarvis up close was awesome.Still looking for a bike but can't decide what to get, last one was one of the last Fantics which was great but technolgy has moved things on abit.Secondhand seems a bit dodgy, the French like to do "randos" which involve rideing offroad for miles in groups so any 2nd bikes seem a bit tatty never mind mechanical state.GasGas 280's seem to be popular in the area but are they abit quick for old geezas?Dunno maybe just need to ride stuff again. If I can be any help just contact. Paul
