My advise is to leave them off! When dust and dirt gets in there it will be trapped and may score the fork leg?
Modern day forks and seals are designed to withstand getting dirty and washed off afterwards you will have no problems.
-
So rather than pick on the rule change pick on the observer?
This is the person that has given up his or her Sunday to grab a board so the majority can enjoy? then get people like you say they are doing the job wrong when indeed we should be encouraging and thanking them?
This is the same observer that has probably observed under the stop rules! the stop for 1 rule etc.etc. and has made errors with all the rules that they don't understand and don't know, they may let guys roll back (oh Yes this happens) and get away with it, had arguements with parents and given a clean because they feel intimidated, but they still pick up a board and mark what they see?
If you want to talk about observers then I feel No stop is the easiest to explain when your scratching around at 10:28am still looking for 3 observers, correct me if I am wrong?
We are still only a few weeks in give it time for the organisers, observers and riders, we did for all the other rule changes! As for the riders some will moan whatever trial is put on, these are the people that know everything, yet help out with nothing!!!
-
So no one adjusted from No stop to Stop and Hop, yes we all did so now surely it is another learning curve?
If your lad wants to ride under the stop rule I am sure some clubs are still using theses rules?
You could say its going backwards....................but that would be a 5
-
Hey you given up smoking, You given up alcohol you will be giving up sex with women next I rest my case

The three wise men arrive to visit the infant lying in the manger...bearing gifts of gold...Incense...and myrrh.
One of the wise men...who is very tall...accidentally bumps his head on the low doorway as he leaves the stable.
"Jesus Christ!"...he exclaims.
Joseph says..."Write that down...Mary..
It's better than ''Andy'' :biggrinsanta:
-
Good point made and I have said that in the past women hey! they got alot to answer for!
The top lads will be the top lads whatever the rules, so cater for the majotity.
-
Same as it was when riders roll back with the stop rule and get away with it?
Purely down to the observer on the section, no two volunteers the same
-
No problem mate and thanks for the apology, I am not saying it will work, but if it does let us re-visit this post and lets hear from the people that have judged it after one event?
-
Dress it up how you like but it has been discussed to death on TC, but with less than 10 riders in the WTC and BTC maybe the rules need addressing?
Call it what you like Dynmic, progression, skillful etc. etc. but the circus with minders, time keepers using 1min 30sec, then 1 min its a joke and everyone can see its not working, hell you wouldn't run a business like that!
The ACU took the bold decission to revert back to No Stop only for the BTC, however some clubs have followed, if everyone wanted stop allowed then why have clubs cahnged?
No stop has been successful SSDT, SCOTT, S3 and some Nationals maybe it is the over 40's that support these events but entries have increased!
If sections are too tight then its the sections that are wrong not the rules, don't complain about a five because you stopped, we had to learn the hopping and skipping so we all have to learn to keep forward momentum its that simple.
I am not going to say it will work, but I stand by my statement that after one week of trying people on here say that No Stop is not working give it time guys lets wait and see how the sections and the rules pan out in this years BTC.
-
Sorry that I have not read them but I refer to the ''Title'' how can people judge its not working after one event?
Do you want me to read them and write the above again? Surely that is what people are griping about or will I be wasting my time?
The last rules were not working now some say these are not working, will some of you guys never be happy
-
I have been away on business and I can't be bothered to read all the replies! Only have to read the ''Title''
So the clubs are trying No Stop and one week down the line its not working, no wonder our sport is knackered with posts like this
-
For the past 10 or more years our top riders have flitted between countries to ride their Championships Spain and Italy being the most, so why is it that the top riders from other countries aren't rushing to do our British Championship, sponsorship has a lot to do with it no doubt but it does make you wonder ''is our Championship that bad?''

Murphy...who'd been involved in a terrible road accident with a large truck ended up in court fighting for a substantial compensation claim.
"I understand"... Stated the counsel for the insurance company... "You're claiming damages for the injuries you had suffered?".
"Yes... Dat's right".... replied Murphy nodding his head.
"You claim you were injured in the accident... yet.. I have a signed police statement that says that when the attending police officer asked you how you were feeling....you replied...."I''ve never felt better in me life"..... Is that the case?".
"To be sure... but".... stammered Murphy.
"A simple yes or not will suffice".... counsel interrupted quickly.
"Yes"... Replied Murphy.
Then it was the turn of Murphy's counsel to ask him questions.
"Please tell the court the exact circumstance of events following the accident when you made your statement on your health to the police".
"All right then".... said Murphy.
"After the accident me horse was thrashing around with a broken leg and me poor dog was howling in pain.
The policeman comes along takes one look at me horse and shoots him dead.
Den'... he goes over to me dog... looks him over...and shoots him dead too.
Then over he comes straight to me and asked me how I was feeling.
Now...Sor'... by all the saints..what the hell would you have said?".

Moan and Groan all you like Peeps! but unless any of you come up with a workable solution the we must try this one.
If anyone thinks the present rules are working then you must be blind, what if it does work what will you be saying then?
-
Hopping is repetitive too or am I missing something?
-
Your kidding right? Are you suggesting the 10 observers are the time keepers too, bet the volunteers will be queueing up to grab a board
-
Bloody hell its hard enough finding observers, now I gotta find time keepers?
-
Think we will all have the answer shortly
-
The jobs knackered so lets leave it as it is?
Or do we change and see if it works?
We can all come on here and say what we as a rider want, but the fact remains that from the WTC to the BTC and down to some Centre and club trials entries are poor, where there has been growth is the No Stop trials SSDT, S3 and some good nationals with the general census being how much more they enjoy it.
Now whether that be the right move or wrong something has to be done because if you were running a failing business then you would try a move that would possibly help!
I do beleive that No Stop will encourage peolpe into our sport because its simple you put it in gear and ride between the flags, the arguement against that is that when you become a better rider then you will be able to hop and skip but you can make the sections hard enough to take marks.
It would be interesting to hear what the importers want I know of one that definately wants to go no stop, is this because he is grey and old or does he think he will sell bikes and move the sport forward.
As for the pro's whether that be at WTC or BTC we as riders only dream to ride with their skills, but its not what 99% of us can do? Let the FIM screw it up but let us in the UK try to and sort the mess out.
One rule so that organisers, observers and riders know what they are doing when they bunk up every Sunday morning!
-
Have you heard about the latest craze for Ecstasy impregnated bubble gum that
-
Historically the ACU will tend to have a set of rules that will be the same as the FIM to enable our top riders and youngsters to compete and practise at the same level and they have tended to follow any changes.
But to answer your question I have no idea why we have 2 sets of rules?
I can however see the FIM maybe look at the idea of no stop it will get rid of the stupid timings which they seem to keep altering.
-
Some valid points Pete, but what may work well for the organisers does not transmit to the rest?
Point one when turning up to a trial outside the boundries of your club, do the riders actually know what rules they are riding under. Yes they should find out, but in reality this does not happen! then the arguements arise with the observers, which brings me to my second point.
It is hard enough getting obsevers then try and explain a different rule to the one they observed last weekend, its a nightmare.
Maybe the easiest way is to count the dabs up to 3 and if they stop or fall of its a 5, surely that is easy enough to explain? I can see why people don't observe.
One set of rules, I vote the FIM go No Stop because the ACU will follow whatever they do
-
Andy in light of whats happening with the England football team and the ''POPPY'' fiasco, have you had permission to post the poppy on the site from the FIM
Nah didn't think so sod em we deserve to show our respect when and how we like.
This one does it for me:
