You got some feathers coming out of the Gas Gas handlebars, and the fence could do with a paint
-
-
Nothing wrong with Fantic's, but as Blocky said get yourself a more popular bike, not many fantics of that era ride modern day trials the older twin shock models are more popular so that tells you something.
If you like your Zero then go for a Techno

Looks like he has ventured into one of those bottomless SSDT BOGS
Iv'e never done that
-
Did that John, and I was fairly close to him, you will know what number I was it was very entertaining to say the least.
The one that I have told a few times we hapened to be walking up either 'Sleubhaich' or 'Stob Coire Eirghe', don't know which the ones in the gully as opposed to the water.
Any how as we were watching, a rather enthusiastic attempt by one 'Clubman' rider giving it rather large on the old throttle control, he dissapeared passed us at some rate of knots, he had already had enough dabs too win loads of money in a sponsored walk, and way out of what I would consider control.
Shouldn't critisise really, as my attemt later wasn't much better.
Then all of a sudden, he was in wheelie mode exiting left out of the gulley, arms at full stretch, at that point he let go of his bike fell back into the gulley and did a few flick-flacks before ending in the biggest heap.
Right as he was doing his gymnastics, his bike had done a full 180 degrees and started going back down the hill, god knows how it stayed upright for so long, nearly taking a few riders out that were riding up to the group of sections, quite amazed at this bike going backwards on the course without a rider.
So there it was this guy in a big heap in some pain, his bike nearly back on Mamore Road and deathly silence, until Martin pipes up..................
''WELL THERE IS NO WAY I'M TAKING THAT BL**DY LINE''
Laugh... he had everyone in stiches, even the poor rider

HL take my shirt out of the plastic bag when I sign on and replace it with one of those.......I know you want to
Has Mark talked to the farmer at Lagnaha, is it in?, not that I am in any rush to do that group of sections , but it is good for the spectators
-
So that's why your not riding the SSDT, concerntrating on the World Championships.
Good Luck and we will all be shouting for you at Hawkstone Park
-
You have a real job, we all thought you are on the pay roll of the Edinburgh & District Motor Club

I have a 'SLOW' action 'ALUMINIUM' throttle, had it on my Beta, and now on my 4RT, and definately slow action
It is good to have the discussion of what's the best set up etc. etc. But everyone is different, what works for one person may not work for another and I am going through the process of testing all possibilities.
I have tried restrictors in and out, every combination, I have tried a bike with the programmable ECU, tried a bike with the titanium front pipe, different gearing, all are different and I suppose that is what is good about the 4RT, so many different bike set up over a 2 stroke.
You will eventually find the set up that works for you, not what works for eveyone else
Happy Testing
-
I've had a go on both, and own a 4RT and love it
As for the 3.2 Sherco 4T, I had about a couple of hours playtime on it totally different to the Mont but still a great bike. Big strong motor more pull than the Mont, but also a great buzz to ride.
Yes they have their problems, some more than others, Ishy has one and seems to cope quite well with the starting issue, but it is something the factory are addressing.
I have heard that 2 of the new revised 2006 version, will be taken round the SSDT and hopefully all the teething problems have been sorted.
That with the launch of the Scorpa will an exciting few months.
4 stoke may or may not be the way forward, and the 2 stroke/4 stroke debate will run and run, all I will say is have a go on one it may suprise you
-
MRS used to import these bikes so it may be worth giving them a call, thaey may still have some spares or at least point you in the right direction
Hope this helps
-
Definate 5 don't care what rules your riding under, going backwards is a 5
Seriously though, used to happen on the old twin shock bultaco's. I was only 12 then and didn't really understand why.
If you don't get any answers on here speak to MRS, see if they know the problem
-
If it matches your riding gear then it might be ok
Don't think it will catch on though, so don't bother approaching Mr RENTHAL
-
Think that is the 280. The 270 is 258cc looking at Gas Gas website

So with c11 weeks to go, yep it will fly by Better get out and do some physical training.
Who do you think is going to win?
I actually thought last year that no one could beat Graham Jarvis in the natural flowing sections of the SSDT, and it was almost a dead cert bet...........but the wheel fell off the waggon
So could it be Jarvis or Connor, Pascuet, Ben Hemingway,, Morris, Dabill, Bibao, Colley
Add Thorpe, Austermuhle, Brown, MacDonald (local Knowledge!!!) into the pot, or...
My bet could be with ''Taddy'' take the win, and best first timer, has that been done before OTH?
Big John will know Gorgot 1983! Michaud !
Of course my bet for the win having had 2 years experience, with the course, and other parts of the moors, not on the course would have been with 'KINEL', but other commitments have, forbidden him putting his entry in
-
Is it though since the start of the indoor scene, yes more people are aware of the sport, but has it put more bums on trials bikes, has it put more money into the sport, I doubt it.
I am not critisising, the indoor, just wonder if it should be a World Championship. How many other sports are only open to so few?
-
You've had that ages , must like it to sell it so soon
-
Following on from the story in T&MX, it made interesting reading and a little sense.
To re-iterate the facts:
It's meant to be a world championship, open to 6 riders
Four of which are Spanish, one Brit, one Jap!! No disrespect to the Spanish boys for being good, but it's not exactly a global field
And is it really trials riding or is it a 'show' if it's a 'show' should it be a world championship?
And then look at the organisers, enough said.
Many people ask me what I do as a sport, when I say trials riding '' Oh yes Iv'e seen that on Eurosport, jumping up and over man-made obsacles, you do that''
''Not exactly''!
Has the sport of trials gone too far?
Does the indoor promote our sport?
Does it put bums on bikes?
Do we need a World Indoor Trials Championship?
I would rather see the World Championship being a single sport, outdoors, where it is meant to be, and double up on the world rounds (Sat & Sun) every round. Man and machine against the natural elements, terrain, weather etc.
Two days at Hawkstone, now there's a thought, Transit full of beer

Missed out on a sale there BB
-
Yep I got a set for 4RT, set c15mm further back, and a lot stronger than the originals.
Rode first time on Sunday, seemed a little better
Look good also

The next Dougie Lampkin is not going to come from riding club/centre trials, fact, it will come from hard practicing and more practicing. Yes he might support his local club from time to time, but that will not get him to the top.
The top trials riders in this country can do the hopping and skipping, that goes down to youth level, they are good at it and deserve respect.
Yes the sections have got a lot to do with it, but cater for the majority and not the minority, only a hanfull of riders at a trial can do the hop round a tree and turn up your own backside, but the sections are set out for them.
There are more and more people riding clubman class, and there are some bl**dy good riders in there, but have no ambition to move up. Look at the entry only a small amount of people ride the hard course nowadays.
It was a bold step from many clubs to go back to no stop, but it has worked, the lists have been mentioned.
The same people will win the trial, but more people will enjoy it
-
I am old enough and fortunate enough to have ridden most rules, all I am saying is that by a huge margin No stop is easier to ride and easier to observe
-
We do do it, the SSDT is a shining example back in the 90's when the sections were made for the ''Balerina's'', scaped together 167 entries one year this continued until the club made the bold step to go back to the old rules.
Now look at it over subscribed 450+
Maybe we should go back, it has worked in the SSDT.
Another way to look at it, I was at a trial on Sunday got talking to a guy who turned up on a BMW GS (I happen to have got one aswell)to have a look.
Is this guy, maybe going to go out and buy a trials bike:
1. If he watches someone hopping and skipping, thinking NO way could I ever do that
or
2. If he watches a no stop trial, and thinking YES maybe I could do a bit of that
I think the answer is 2, more bums on bikes will only help our sport to be more recognised. We don't have to follow 'Johny Foreigner' just because we think it is the way forward, we will be getting the EURO next
