    Rear Sprocket

If you've got a 10 tooth (which was standard) on the front then the 42 should lower it nicely. If like me you have 9 teeth on the front then it seems to work nicely with the 40. I haven't helped have i? Go and get the torch.......

    Montesa Plastics

Absolutely do this! I carry some spares tucked in my renthal bar pad thing. Dropped it many times and just had to replace the zip tie rather than the (black) mudguard.
  3. Nice! Some classic falls and strangely I quite like the music
  4. I agree, good bike, reliable. Either that or a scorpa anyway.
  5. I for one will be withholding my judgement until we see some proper tests and the later revised models. At the very least Greeves should be applauded for attempting to bring a british made trials bike back to the table. The price is prohibitive but with it being made in Britain that was always going to be the case and even more so now with the drop in the pounds value. I just hope it comes back with graphics to die for and a certain 'something' - be it power delivery, suspension setup etc - that sets it apart from the competition! Greeves - My fingers are crossed for you!
  6. What condition is the tyre in? Once the edge has gone on your nobbles the performance in mud drops off a lot. In general the Michelin is a very good tyre.

    Ty250r Issues

Clean your air filter and change the engine oil. If you can remove check and clean your clutch plates (rough them up with a bit of sandpaper) before the oil change that would be even better. Then see how it goes. And as previously said check the operation and adjustment of the clutch and throttle cables to make sure the cables are free and smooth.
  8. Have to agree that it's just a matter of time. Once batteries become small/light enough to give reasonable range we'll be seeing them. Or maybe fuel cells in the further future? Electric none the less. Ten years?
  9. 80:1 is a reasonable ratio. Thats 80 parts petrol to 1 part oil, or 63ml of oil per 5L of petrol. For this use a good quality fully synthetic oil.

    Crank Case Cover

Someone has polished it up at some point. I've seen them for sale on ebay from time to time.
  11. No one i know I'm afraid. Don't worry, the more you practice the better you'll become at falling off!
  12. I had the same desicion to make about a month ago and I went for the Canon. Very pleased with it, it's a lovely thing and a good starting point. I chose it due to the brand, with Canon having a long history in cameras, and the reviews that just seemed to think it was a bit better. Loads of lenses/accessories available also. I don't use the live view, I thought i would but I find it a lot more satisfying using the viewfinder. It's useful to have on the odd occasion though.
  13. The scorpa is a great bike to get you started. Very reliable and good for beginner to expert. Don't worry about being the first it's a good thing. I'll bet once you have practiced and can do some cool stuff other people will want to join in. You never know in ten years time and with a thriving Serbian trials scene you can look back and think "I started that.." For videos the ones that motofire linked to are great start, I learnt my 'Double Blip' from there! Also search YouTube for names and events you get from trials websites. Things like 'Dougie Lampkin', 'Tony Bou', 'Adam Raga', 'Scott Trial', 'Scottish 6 day' and anything else. If you need any advice on anything this forum is a great place to ask. Keep in touch!
  14. The sherco will be well under 33bhp but the power to weight may be an issue. Taken from the DirectGov Website; "and a power/weight ratio not exceeding 0.16 kW/kg" At a rough guess taking the weight as 68kg and the power at 15bhp that makes a power to weight of 0.164... Nicely on the limit!
  15. Just wondered if anyone could explain to me this whole thing about petrol "going off"? I appreciate pre-mix might go off - particles seperating or something - but I've just started a bike that i bought thats been stood for 2 years and the petrol in it seems fine! I've also never had any problems on any bikes I've had when they've been laid up for months at a time while I try to fix them. That and the fact that the petrol must stay in various storage tanks for months before it gets to the pumps. So yes any info on this urban myth greatly appreciated. I probably should get to bed now, trial in the morning ha! Merry Boxing Day, wish me luck!!
  16. I use Altberg Leder-Gris on mine and it works a treat. Give Altberg a ring to mail order it as you don't see it about much.
  17. No bother! I'd recommend getting the bearings pressed out professionally, mainly because I managed to destroy the dog bone trying to take mine out! Sandifords to the rescue again with a dog bone from stock with new bearings ready to go. Really can't speak highly enough of them guys if you are needing bits, also BVM moto are very good and the bonus with them is all your parts arrive stamped with "Urgent Competition Parts" on it which always gives me a grin! I still have to get the swing arm and lower shock ones done, I'll be taking it to my local guys at White Bros for that though, not risking destroying anything else!
  18. Not sure about the rear shock but the fronts are easy enough to do yourself if you fancy a challenge. If not whip them off and any bike mechanic near you should be able to do them, there's nothing particularly different on them from the forks on the road bikes they do day in and day out. Get the seals and oil yourself from Sandifords (to make sure there is no skimping on quality!) and supply those plus forks to a garage, most places will do it for a bit of cash. An hours job for them at most. If you have the earlier Paoli forks you'll have to ask Sandifords how much oil to put in as I've forgotten! If its the later Showa ones then it's in that manual you downloaded.

    Advice Please

There is no level plug I'm afraid, just fill it up with a fresh 500ml each time you change it. (I think it's supposed to be 510ml but 500 means you get two changes from a 1L bottle) Silkolene should be fine.

    What Have I Got?

It's a 1999 250cc Montesa 315r just like mine! The black fork legs give it away as a '99 - unless it's had the front end changed of course.
