Ive spotted this Ossa on ebay. I know nothing about them so i was just wondering, is it as rare as he claims and if so, what is different to the others i have seen?

I had a similarly poor front brake when i got my 97 scorpa 250. I too had a leak but from the bleed nipple threads. Sorted that with plumbers tape. That had let fluid on the pads so i got new pads but the biggest change came from thoroughly bleeding them and changing the fluid.
Note of caution though, Leave your new brake fluid to sit in one place without being disturbed for at least a day before using it (it collects tiny air bubbles when being sloshed about). Then try not to slosh it about when using it to fill the master cylinder. If you dont you may do it and then find it needs bleeding again a few days later. Just my tuppence worth.

Sorted the problem out. It was the choke sticking slightly. I stripped the carb down and everything else was fine. A small amount of water in the bottom of the float bowl but not enough to cause a problem.
Running like a dream again now. Thanks for the help.
Marcus.
BTW Yes it is a rotax engine.

Excellent, I'm glad to here it. There is always a risk with ebay but it sounds like you got a good one. Well done.
Is the clutch dragging, slipping or stuck?

I am in screen printing but due to the small quantity i wanted i gave the artwork to a friend who does sign writing and he printed them on his wide format printer. I am not sure what make it is but i can ask him if you like.

I have just made a load of trials central stickers (with andy's permission) and will be sending them to him next week if i get an address. They are 130mm x 22mm. I just wanted one for my helmet and, as i'm in the printing business, it was as easy to make a hundred as it was to make just one so i have kept a few and will send the rest to andy.
I will have to check with andy but if people send me their address i will send them one. Dont bother with p&p, just make a donation to the site instead.
Like i say, this is only if it is ok with andy.
ANDY, let me know if i'm out of line or if you want to go about it a different way.

The last time i went out on it about a week ago it ran fine then tonight, it wasnt running well.
The tickover was higher than usual but it wasnt smooth like normal, it sounded like it was four-stroking if you know what i mean. It sounds far too rich.
When going down a steep descent the revs dropped and i had to rev it to keep it running.
When i press on the choke the revs drop to nothing but when revved it feels crisper.
On the roads on the way back when going downhill i pulled the clutch in and the engine drops to a high tickover, when i revved it a little (with the clutch in as i was going along) the engine surged to a very high tickover.
I have 2 ideas as to why, see what you think.
1. Choke is sticking on a bit which has happened once before on this bike.
or
2. Yesterday i fitted a new air filter. The old one was in the bike when i got it and was knackered but i kept it lightly oiled. When i fitted the new one i gave it a damn good soaking in filter oil and overdid it a bit. I squeezed it out and put it in. Could too much oil be restricting airflow and causing a rich mixture.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I know your not selling it i just wondered what sort of condition it is in for that money. Sounds like you have too many ty's now. I think you should give me one. Shall i send you my address to send it to?

My mate is after a cheap way into twinshock trials and is after a TY250. He is a bike mechanic so doesnt mind if he has to buy one in bits or do some engine work but the more complete the bike the better.
He is skint (lost his job when the russian killed TVR) and needs to pay as little as possible,

I have sky and get Eurosport2 UK but can't find it on Monday at 6 or any other time. Is Eurosport 2 different to Eurosport2 UK and if so why is Eurosprt 2 not on sky? Help.

When i first got my 97 scorpa it used to cut out going steeply uphill down hill or leaning it over.
I dropped the float height by 2mm and its been fine ever since (except when my choke was sticking slightly)

Try practicing in the street and using the neighbours cars as obstacles. I am sure they wont mind!

Looking good.
You wont really know about the jetting until you ride it with WOT for a while. With these bikes there is so much power there that most of the time your just riding on part throttle using the needle.
My jetting was fine until i altered the gearing to give 130mph. Then the first time i tried it out on WOT i put a hole in the piston big enough to get your finger through at 129.8mph! Scary moment.
-
I dont think that changing the brake disc will affect the brake squeal as the noise comes from the pads "squealing" againts the piston in the caliper.
Ive got no more ideas that havent already been mentioned. My next step would be to take a really big hammer to it but that wont necessarilly help it will just make you feel better.

Hi,
I have heard about a trial in Lindale, Cumbria (Westmorland Motor Club) this sunday but cant find details of it on the event list.
Does anyone have any details?
Also, this would be my first trial. What do i need to do/know? Do i just turn up on my bike and have a go or do i need to apply for some kind of license or something first?
Any advice greatfully accepted.
Sorry for the dumb questions.

Your seat cover might not be so bad. My problem was that my bike had a supercross seat fitted which has a taller foam on it and my seat cover was a motorcross one. I had a mate do it too, I know he really struggled.
What year is your CR? do you know? If you give me a frame number i can tell you if you like.
You should ditch the standard expansion chamber, They really slow it down. I have a FMF gnarley which is good for mid range power. I know that Dep do some good pipes if you want it really peaky and all your power at the top BUT they are a bit fragile and the one i had kept cracking just from vibrations after a while.

Nice.
Is that a 93?
Good luck getting the seat cover fitted, Mine was a real swine to do.
If your in the u.k. Talon engineering are the place for having 17" rims fitted to your hubs (costs about

Thanks. I enjoy riding it more than any other bike ive had. You can pick up a basic conversion for about

Didnt the XT500 have a decompression lever? My mate has a SR500 (same engine) and that has one. You dont have to lean it over but you do need to girlie kick it then get the thing in the window, mess about with the lever then one stout kick and its away.
I start the CR easily and im not a big bloke. 5'7 and 13 stone. Mine is ported so the decompression scollops in the exhaust port have been removed but if you get a standard one that has them then that makes it easier too. You just have to be committed.
-
Thanks hop blip, its a 1997 but the engine is a mix of 97 and 89 parts as the 89's had more power.
Yes Boner they have a terrible reputation but if you know "how" to start them its quite simple. First trick is when they are cold lean the bike over until a bit of fuel leaks out of the carb. Then you give it two ladies kicks just to get the fuel through. Then choke on and one or two mans kicks WITH NO THROTTLE and it should fire into life and start annoying the neighbours. In 6 years ive only once not been able to start it after i flooded and stalled it pulling stoppies.
There are web pages that give detailed instructions and even how to videos!
Merry christmas
