    200 gearbox woes

Right here's the up date. We found one of the shafts in the gearbox was slightly bent! No idea how it happened. So that sorted the lack of lower gears. It still jumps out of fourth gear, I have another gearbox to try which I'll do in due course. It's done a couple of trials and is no big deal. The annoying issue now is starting from cold, it will not start with the kick start. Always starts with a little push and is fine starting with the kick start after that initial push. It appears to be flooded. It was always a first/second kick starter before the strip down in which I didn't touch the carb. I haven't looked at it yet. Any ideas what the issue might be. Ps I did get a TLR :-)

    Tlr 200 Fork Yokes

I have considered taping whats left and making a screw stop but there so little material to work with either on the yoke or the head stock of the frame. I thought about building it up with weld but am nervous that something might go wrong. I'd try welding if i had a back up.
  3. Does any know where i can purchase fork yokes for my 1984 TLR 200? a previous owner has cut most of the stops off so that the fork legs hit hard on the tank!

    200 gearbox woes

I've given up on it now :-( It's going in a corner, may sell it in bits one day. I'm going to buy a TLR.

    200 gearbox woes

I've split the cases now and had a quick look. Nothing appears to be broken or particularly worn. It's quite difficult to change gear with the lever with only one case, I haven't quite sussed the operation of gear change mechanism yet. I need to spend a lot more time looking at it!

    200 gearbox woes

I had a bit of an issue before with the gearbox before which I had asked about on here but it seemed to go away and i haven't riden the bike for quite a while. I didn't split the cases before just changed all the clutch plates. Any way back to todays promblem; i was unable to select 1st and 2nd gear at all, either with the bike running using the clutch or not stationary or moving, or even with a dead engine. As the morning went on it developed a 4th gear problem, it would jump in and out of gear whilst riding between section. It only happen in 4th gear but got progressively worse as the morning went by. 5th & 6th Gears are just fine. Any ideas before I open her up!
  7. I looked at that way but you can't tighten one of the head bolts then. Anyway i've done it now :-) All engine bolts in postion, no tank or seat fitted. I just walked away, returned a hour later and it went on first time. i've no idea how to explain how i did it. Thanks for your replies/sympathy.
  8. I'm just puting the 200 back together again, it's been apart for a while. i can't for the life of me remember how to get the exhaust back in place. Help.
  9. Your not supposed to be testing the coil
  10. Good oh. With pictures?
  11. I asked a similar question a couple of months ago (mine is slipping out further up the range) here and other places. Not a single suggestion anyware, everyone just says the gearbox never goes wrong. I still haven't split mine yet, it's a bit difficult on crutches
  12. Blocky - that looks a really nice bit of kit.

    Fantic 247

I blame Iceland Sorry i have no knowledge of the 247, i just keep searching the web.
  14. I bought some new fork cap/nuts from Bob Wright last year.
  15. I'm fairly sure that Bob Wright has just come back from Italy with lots of boxes of sparks
  16. I'm just about to strip the gearbox, it's been slipping gear - more so in the higher gears. Any ideas what i might be looking for when i get inside?
  17. I problems with my 200 similar to yours (maybe) Bill Pye told me it was unlikely to be the trigger (which is attached to the stator plate). I tested the coils on the stator against resistance levels given to me by Lee of this forum, they were close but not spot on. I sent the stator to West Country Winds who tested it and confirmed my findings. They said it was not esential to rewind but i out of furstration decided to anyway. The bike has started first kick every time since even after leaving the fuel tap on for a fortnight!

    200 Silencer

Well i took the Sammy Miller one off of mine and replaced it with the WES and i am more than happy. It certainlt runs better- maybe the miller pipe needed cleaning. The WES can easily be taken apart to clean and looks a lot better especially as my Miller has faded to light pink.

  20. What colour bike? kit? number? I don't tend to take to many modern bikes but i do have some.
  21. I took this shot at a Dorset and Wilts trial last weekend 21/6/09 does anyone know what this end box is? I have one lying about in the shed never felt like using it, mainly due to it's pink colour!
  22. I was in the same position, i went for a WES from Bob Wright mainly because you don't have to cut them open to repack.
