Care to share what cured it!? Always good to no what the problem was?
-
Also make sure your not taking in extra air from anywhere and the carb is properly sealed in the rubber manifold connecting to the reed block
-
250 should be fine,
Get yourself along to monymusk this Sunday, follow the arrows (yellow with bamcc on them) from the Aberdeen to a alford road.
Scot ads is always worth a look for 2nd hand trials bikes aswell
there is different areas where guys like to practise, with the permission of the land owners!
Any questions just give me a shout

I appreciate what is trying to be done for patrick smage,
But surely if this guy feels he has the ability to compete in the world rounds then he needs to go down the same channels as every other kid chasing the dream of world stage stardom,
A simple trip across the pond to compete in a few events wouldnt suffise would it?
You would need to be up there competing against the best of them all the time, And i guess half these world riders have grew up competing against one another week in week out!
What im getting at is wouldnt he be better moving to so called europe (probly spain) and getting the backing of the sherco factory team? Instead of us paying for someone else to do what we do on any sunday, only at a world level?
-
Hi all just recieved This From Ken whittaker And thought i'd post it up on tc for anyone not on the e-mail list
ALL TRIALS MEMBERS
Sorry to say that it has not stopped raining in Stonehaven since yesterday and the burn level is above engine height.
The burn looks like the Zambezi in spate.
We will run the trial next Sunday
-
Just browsed over the entry list, Fantastic to see so many nationalities, and brilliant to see another world trials rider braving it! (cabastany). Really is an internationally renowned event, I for one cant wait to watch this years event And hope the rain stays away for at least a couple of days!!!
-
Hi anyone with an iPhone this is a must have app for this snowey weather go into the apps store and type in unreal trials, download free game, enjoy,
-
I Could not fault the new marking sytem That was first "trialed" at Craiglash for the scottish championship by Bon-Accord, So simple and if it Became universal life would be so much easier for all involved. Suppose the main issue of change is the cost to a club!
-
Cheers guys was out yeserday bike felt good had a slow action throttle on my old 07 290 and does make a noticeable difference, I see what your saying about the sprockets, Im aware that a smaller rear reduces the initial bite i was just wondering what accompanied this on the front, It is always going to be a 290 which i like, I suppose its all down to amount of time out on bike! Tony27 As far as rear greater scope for incremental change that is way over my head!! Sounds good though and will read into it!!
-
Took the carb of cleaned pilot jet and carb again with airline seems to have cured it,
Cheers guys, will know to remove jets and clean always cautious about dismantling the carb as I no how precise things have to be on them!!! all a learning process i suppose!!
-
cheers, yeah have sealed airbox gap between exhaust, taped up mudgaurd apart from the one vent, and use tape around mudgaurd when it is in place, I'm riding in winter in north east of scotland which is fantastic but not ideal for water mudd etc getting in every part of the bike!!
-
two completely different boots, trials boots are a lot less rigid than mx ones whilst still providing the necessary support
-
Cheers copemech,
Have a club trial today so just hope i manage to get the pilot out, cleaned and back in before the start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pilot does not have to be set does it? just screws out and goes back into the same slot without over-tightening?
-
The plug is not fouling or that goes right up the revs and sounds ok on the way up,
would the pilot jet be the first thing to check? when you say lean what is the signs of a lean-ness?
-
Sherco got clogged up with the usual mud and water in thru the airbox again so have done all the usual new filter, clean airbox, clean carb, new plug, fresh fuel ( this happens far to often, wish the designed bikes in Scotland and not Spain)
my problem is that when the bike now goes up the revs then comes back down to idle it hovers above idle ( like when the choke is on) for about 10 seconds then drops down to the idle speed when hot,
my question is what may be the cause of this?
I have fettled about with the carb screws is it just a case of more fine tuning with the carb screws?
-
I am looking to tame my sherco 290cc a bit, I have purchased a 41- t rear sprocket, will a smaller or bigger front sprocket be more beneficial to go along with this? I have also bought a slow action throttle so hoping between these two things it will stop it from taking off low down! Any other suggestions welcomed!
-
Yeah I'm the same, I think it would be ok to drill the airbox! But I don't want to be the one to try it!! Thought about glueing something on but that wouldnt last more than the first section I don't think, I have seen one where a guy had layered it down from the bit of the mudguard that laps over the airbox, screwing the rubber into there! Quite flimsey though! Did you used to get sealskins that went over the rear shock? Was maybe thinking along those lines!!!!
-
As the rear shock is not protected from mud etc i am looking for suggestions on a rear shock protector has anyone fitted something to this effect to an 09 sherco and where would you recomend is the best fixing point? Ive seen a few solutions on other bikes but nothing convincing for the sherco!
-
Got to watch it an hour later than it was advertised on eurosport 2, sky plus might just have to be the future after all!!
-
I am extremely dissatisfied to have hurried home from work to find that wtc is advertised as been shown right now on eurosport 2 and watching bloody bsb superbikes! Highly un amused
-
