    New Ossa

Yeah Marzocchi have been using aluminium stanchions for a few years now (they are on the Scorpa and GasGas), I've not heard of any problems with them.
  2. The pipe going into the inlet manifold is I think for the fuel pump, i think it will work off the pressure pulses with some kind of diaphragm petrol pump. The duel stage map has been used on the 250 and 290 since the 2007 Cabestany replica model (except for the UK standard model in 2009 for cost reasons) I don't think it has ever been used on the 125's or the 80's
  3. Yeah the manual you have linked to is incorrect for your bike, the amounts and levels quoted are for the 2001 to 2005 front forks. Oil level on right leg: 60mm With forks at bottom Qty 370cc Oil level on left leg: 110mm With forks at bottom and without spring Qty 385cc There's a damping rod in the right fork leg that will still be full of oil, you'll have to take it out to drain it properly and it takes a while to get the majority of it out, I don't think you will ever get it all out. When refilling it's better to use the specified oil height measurement then it doesn't matter if you get all the old oil out.
  4. The first thing I would check is the oil height, unscrew the top cap and measure the oil height, this is done with the fork leg bottomed out (fully down) and you should have a 60mm air gap to the top of the oil (this is for the right hand damping leg only).
  5. I think it is a slightly negative point not been able to see the fuel level easily, it's just the same as the gasgas and beta though. It could be better for the scott and the scottish as they nearly always overfill the tanks anyway, at least with the tank filler being where it is you won't get petrol at over your b******s and it won't destroy the tank stickers either.
  6. Hang on a minute, he said this "Could find no specific referance to the composition of the given number, but this does raise even more question!!!!!"
  7. The radiator, coolant, exhaust, carb and airbox come in at 4.5kg so that's a total of 24.5kg so I guess you need to be aiming for under 25kgs all in for the controller, motor and battery pack.
  8. A few specs for you to help you on your way. The swingarm length axle centre to centre distance is 510mm. The engine weights 20kg but that's without the radiator, coolant, exhaust, carb and airbox. I try and weight them tomorrow.
  9. Yeah so it would be better with the breather pipes.
  10. Yeah your right but it is a bridge rectifier and capacitor used to convert the AC current from the stator into smooth DC current suitable for the fan motor. Ask your local dealer for this part C039 Sherco Radiator Fan Diode
  11. See this post from a few weeks ago http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....c=27262&hl= I'd personally just buy a new one, but if you want to make one maybe Andy can help.
  12. The Cabestany replica I had only had the left hand side breather drilled and it used a breather pipe made out of plastic that melts, so it would melt shut when hot. I think this is the main reason why it is better to run without the breather or better still drill the right hand breather out and run two non-meltable breather pipes. If there is another reason for not running the breather pipe I'd like to here it.
  13. If the COC does read this, I think it would be wise to put the time control at or very near the last section so riders don't go flying along the road to save time points. I watched at the time control on Saturday and there were numerous riders going far to fast for the road, to me it is a accident waiting to happen, also many of the riders including myself stopped at the time check to have a chat about how they had gone on, this caused a bit of a blockage on the road and I saw a few annoyed looking motorist. Please don't take this as having a go as I though the trial was excellent and I really enjoyed it, hopefully my comments can be taken on board to help the trial say as one of the best in the country.
  14. The queues were quite bad on a few sections but they would have been far worse if the rules were stop and hop. I think the best way to reduce the queuing is to get rid of the punch cards as they take time for the riders to find them and then the observer to punch it, on one section in particular the observer was running down a bank to punch the card then walking back up it to flag the next rider in, two observers would obviously help but they are very hard to come by. The other way would be to set the riders off at 1 minute intervals instead of 30s but then you would have to reduce the entry or the time limit due to daylight hours and length of time the observers/organisers are stood out.
  15. I guess that was the Bradford Boxing day trial, if so your son must be pretty handy as there are very few riders who can do that trial on the hard route, you certainly couldn't get 200 plus capable of riding it.
  16. I'd think that piece is just there to control the oil flow if it's the bit I think your talking about, it might explain why your losing oil out of the breather.
  17. Andy The rectifier went on my brothers bike and as I wasn't exactly sure what it was I chopped it up to have a look inside, I found 4 diodes in a bridge and a capacitor all potted into that little black box. I'm not sure what exactly you are running but it sounds like just the 4 diodes in a bridge without the capacitor, I don't know the size of the capacitor as it was not identifiable by the time I had got to it, but you will need one.
  18. And the 2 main trials that you can compete against Dougie are run under the no stop rule, surprise surprise.
  19. Andy Have you got a capacitor on it to smooth out the ripple, just making sure as a new fan is a lot more than a the new rectifier.
  20. Hi It will probably be this part C039 Sherco Radiator Fan Diode It a bridge rectifier and capacitor used to convert the AC current from the stator into smooth DC current suitable for the fan motor.
  21. Do you lay your bike right over on it's side when you fill it up, this can fill the camber that the breather enters so as soon as your bike gets warm the expanding air pushes the oil out of that chamber, the same can probably happen if you fall off and the bike goes upside down or it lays on a funny angle on the floor.
  22. All of them that are official UK bikes apart from the Racing version and I think Graham Jarvis had one with all the other bits on. Yeah they all had the new engine and a new delta link in the rear suspension.
  23. You lazy git To be honest your not going to make them (as a one off) in half an hour, so
