  1. That's not what I meant or said. The sections are made hard enough to give the riders a good challenge and produce a winner at the end of the day so they will never be easy enough for the masses and I don't think anybody would ever want to see that happen, I would think most people like to see the riders pushing there limits not going around for 1 or 2 all day. You may be right that it won't make any difference to the size of the steps, that will depend on the clerk of the course he can decided to give the riders slightly more room in the corners or leave it tight and reduce the size of the obstacles either way though it will make it easier for the lesser riders to have a go.
  2. For me personally, yes the severity stops me riding them but I don't think the severity is wrong (it has to be that hard to take the marks) just the rules, if you make everybody do the sections without stopping you'll automatically make the sections harder so the severity can be dropped a little, how much I'm not sure.
  3. It will be the split link it only happens under load as that is when the link is stretched out causing it to misalign with the front sprocket and cause a click noise.
  4. At the moment i.e. under the current rules no I wouldn't, if they changed the rules yes I would consider it but I'd prefer to ride as a competitive rider even if that meant riding the harder route, as I said before though I might be dreaming a bit (lot) and it may just be that rules won't make the difference in severity like I hope it might. Fingers crossed
  5. I've heard a rumour Conner was seriously thinking about giving the world rounds (or at least the british round) a go if they changed to no stop. It's been my ambition to ride a world round for quite a few years, around 2003/2004 the likes of Gareth Andrews, David Pie, Liam Walker, Andy Perry were riding in local world rounds so back then I could have stood a chance of competing in one (I wish I had) and not coming last, this was under the stop for a one ruling. I bet these same riders would struggle in the support class in a world round now. When I heard they were going back to full no stop I did honestly think I may be able to go and have a attempt at the Scottish world round, I'm probably dreaming though!
  6. As cope says put a new split link in or better still buy a new chain as it will probably be on it's last legs if it needs a new link.
  7. What bits are you after, possibly the Sherco Paioli parts may fit have a look here
  8. The UK had this rule a while back but I think you where allowed to hop backwards as well, I can see it merits and it disadvantages, I can remember quite a few people having arguments over whether it was a stationary dab or not. Your right though stood still with your foot down takes zero skill, it's boring to watch and it causes unnecessary delay in sections.
  9. Whats the mont got now days. I know the 315 was a 5 speed but whats the 4rt. There is about one section a year that I think it would be nice to have a 4th gear that is more usable in the sections (usually in the colmore) but I nearly always get through it without a problem in 3rd just reving it slightly more, 3rd on the sherco is higher than the gasgas and the beta, so probably more like a 3rd and a half. So I don't think it needs one, the gearbox is the main reason I wouldn't ride a certain make of bike, so as cope says it not worth the extra complexity.
  10. Mine went well in the SSDT, I only topped the radiator up once and I don't think it really needed it but it's good to be sure. But you can't go flat out down the road with them for too long mainly due to the carburettor been set up for trials rather than roads. Carburettors on trials bikes tend to be jetted to lean for continuous flat trail or road work, you could swap the jets but it wouldn't run right in the sections then, I tend to use the choke on the road just to richen the mixture up a bit, this is why the 4rt is good on the road as it is fuel injected so it sorts out the mixture to suit the conditions.
  11. Where was that? I didn't think that ruling was allowed.
  12. You'd probably find those same observers (probably the best) would five them for going backwards under the stop and hop rules, you are always going to find people who say he got away with that and I didn't, so I don't think that has got anything to do with the rules.
  13. How can you say that if you haven't even seen the section. Apologies if you have. In my opinion the section wasn't dangerous, obviously it depends on what you consider dangerous, if your a politician it would be dangerous but then just riding a bike is considered dangerous to them. In response to billycraig if the rules had allowed you to stop and hop, the section would probably have been going up to the side of that step where it is more like a 7ft high step that in my opinion probably would be dangerous, hence why it's run no stop. When I lay out the hard route I like to make it challenging for myself and allow slightly lesser riders the chance of cleaning it, I don't think I could do it under the stop and hop rules, I think we would end up with another route (elites).
  14. Check the top hat washers holding the clutch springs in are the right way around, possibly the springs may have been changed to uprated ones. Try moving the master cylinder closer to the centre of your bars so your finger gets greater leverage on the lever. Try some thicker oil maybe, stay within the factory spec though.
  15. Blimey I never expected that from you! Might be the first time I read something you've wrote and agreed. Keep it up.
  16. It's not just the old riders though, how many of the riders doing the current British championship are happy? the current mood at these event is not good, I've not enjoyed them and quite a few of the riders I spoke to are the same, something needs to change. Most of the really young riders will be happy whatever they are riding, as long as they get a ride.
  17. I never got any entry form through this year so I guess that wouldn't of helped, I entered it last year when it also got cancelled.
  18. It's well under but you may struggle with the power to weight ratio, I guess most people just ignore this though.
  19. You might not believe it but I have grown up with the hopping rules and I want it to go to full no stop rules I'm also a expert rider who has been a regular contender in the British championship but the last couple of years have just been p*^% poor so I had decided I wouldn't be competing in them again but this change of rules may just with a bit of luck solve a few of the many issuse with the current British champs. You mention riders disappearing to euduro etc, I personal think that will happen whatever the rules but this year I've been going to quite a few downhill events and that's manly because I got feed up of the British champs and the stupid rules.
  20. I think your thinking in the wrong direction, yes making it no stop does make the sections much harder to clean that's the idea, then the section will have to be made much easier, the largest steps taken out and replaced with smaller ones therefore making the sport safer. Oh and the best riders won't get a 1 for stopping they will get a 5.
  21. That's excellent news! Totally agree that the sections need laying out to suit but most of the Novogars are natural straight forward sections so there shouldn't be to much trouble adapting. The guy asking what rules you would prefer was John Collins from the ACU, he told me after the trial that he had asked nearly everybody riding and more preferred the full no stop ruling for the Novogars and quite a few didn't mind which rules they where run under. So you didn't miss your chance to vote. I believe there was a seminar earlier at the ACU that anyone could go to if they wanted, where decision like this are usually discussed.
  22. Your probably right that greeves has made there own engine, but it is fairly obvious which engine they have copied. Yes your also right that all modern two strokes have a very similar design layout and there is little difference between them but it looks as though the greeves copied the Sherco engine exactly even down to the bolt hole positions on the casing which for instance you could easily change the position of to make the engine look visually different. I guess it is the same so they can use a lot of the Sherco components in the engine to reduce the set-up and tooling costs of producing there own, they may have even struck a deal with xispa to use there parts.
  23. I don't think it will suddenly but given time I think it might, mainly because the current rules make the sections easier to clean so they get laid out much harder to compensate.
  24. Sounds good to me. After riding the last British champs I had decided I wouldn't ride another unless they changed the rules, so hopefully the ACU will follow suit immediately and I'll be one happy man. I wonder if there will be a increase in the number of riders actually competing on the world scene, should be interesting.
