just as a note with mountain biking - every man and his dog has a mountain bike in the garage, the number of people doing trials, either just riding for fun or competing is massively lower.
also I don't understand why people want to limit the bike or manufacturers, the bikes have improved and always will that's what people want. my dad is the same, he used to ride fast road bikes, now he is getting old he moans saying the bikes are getting too fast etc.
I personally don't like the no stop rules, its much more fun for me to ride stopping and hopping which is what I practice etc. one bit that is annoying is that watching some of the videos on here at all the 5s at wtc level, then we ride a club trial and get fived straight away for any sort of stop as per the rules, why aren't they sticking to the rules.
I practice at the same place a few btc riders practice and they are all of the same feeling, its not working. however it would be good to get a bit more of an insite into the importers views.
I certainly don't profess to have the answers or even know the best way forward, I do think the wtc needs easing slightly, as with club trials I would say it only needs 1-2 sections to sort the winner out, the rest of the sections set accordingly to so the rest of the entrants aren't killing themselves.

nice bike I sold my 270 rev 3 last year to go for the evo 300. I loved my rev 3 though
might see you up charltons some time, we are off up there tomorrow
-
not totally sure, but I think the stepped washers are only on the 300 or the factory bikes. my 300 factory has stepped washers, my dads standard 250 has plain washers, both bikes are 2012 evos
-
not cheap mind, I got a price for a few bits for my evo in the summer. went with the plastic look ones tbh
-
the main reason i was asking is that my bike is immacualte apart from the front pipe, it has a dent and a few scratches on it, some of which were there when i bought it and some ive added. with the pipe being so big it seems to attract damage and also with a new one being around £350 its just too expensive.
2nd hand arrow or S3 pipes come up evry now and then with no marks on them etc, however if the performace of the bike is going to be significantly alrered i will just live with it.
i even bought one of the carbon fibre covers for it, but it doesnt seem to fit too well so i havent put that on.
-
has anyone tried the s3 or arrow front pipe that fits the existing silencer, preferably on a 2012 300.
if so whats the differences etc?
my bike is the factory 300 with the titanium front pipe, just wondered what differences the other pipes made?
-
if you can take the shock off the bearing should have a number on it, any bearring shops should be able to get them for you.
-
i personally wouldnt go for the annodised sump guard. my mate bought one for his 300, they fit too easily. i know that sounds daft but i presume they are supposed to be an integral part of the frame, the existing ones are a nightmare to get on as they pull everything in together. the red ones dont, even the rubber between the guard and the engine was slightly loose. probably ok especially if the bike never sees a rock, but i wouldnt put one on my bike.
-
I bought a couple of carbon look bits - frame protectors, cdi protector, manifold cover etc all fairly cheap and look smart
-
ive always put copper slip on - I do on every bolt I take out to be honest
-
dan - did it make much difference turning the washers around?
I put the springs back in on Saturday, rode it on sunday and it was much better - real noticeable difference. but - after riding for an hour I was losing control a bit and getting pins and needles in my wrist lol. ive got a 2 day trial this weekend and Im pretty sure I will struggle with it the way it is .
not sure what to do - I might try turning the washers round see if that helps.
there are some bosi clutch springs on haven web site - has anyone tried these?
also was it worth doing the clutch plates on a factory 300? my dad did it on my rev3 270 but we haven't done the evo yet.
-
I took 2 springs out of my 270 rev3 , made a massive difference to the clutch operation, was so soo much easier. im a fairly hard on my bike and never had and problems with it slipping.
ive changed to a factory 300 however, the clutch was heavy on this so I did the mod, it was fine for a few weeks while I was getting used to the bike and not giving it big throttle, now I am tho I think its slipping top end in 3rd and 4th so will be putting them back in before next time out.
-
im looking forward to this, ive never ridden it as yet but have been told how good it is by a few of the lads
-
yeah im tempted to go for them ones
-
Hi, I recently bought a 2012 Evo 300 Factory, absolutely love it, except the forks feel very soft. I have adjusted them on the top of the fork legs but it doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference.
I have seen some different fork springs somewhere - has anyone tried anything other springs and what difference did they make?
Or am I best just putting different oil in?
My last bike was a 2006 rev 3 270 which also had a fairly soft front end but still much stiffer than the evo.
Cheers

Hi sorry for the late reply, the bikes were stolen from coulby newham, they are believed to be on hemlington but up to now we haven't seen them, just keep looking I guess.
im not sure what make everything was, the padlocks did well, there were scratch marks in them but not cut, the chains how ever we easily cut off.
-
thanks, will have a look at the weekend see if we can see anything.
-
we had been up to charltons on the Saturday afternoon, I took his two bikes on my trailer, and my two bike on my pickup. im always very careful checking mirrors etc and have been know to drive totally the wrong way and double back just to check where a certain car is going etc. but you cant always spot them
we must all be extra careful, just annoying that it takes something like this for it to sink in I guess
feel really sorry for the young lad who has lost his new bike tho
-
cheers mate, hope you do to. We had a phone call to say they had been sighted today on a local housing estate so a few people are having a drive about round there this afternoon.
-
Hi, My friend has had his shed raided last night, padlocks were cut off the shed, the chains were cut from around the bike and then the gate padlocks were cut off also.
The bikes were:
2010 Beta Evo 250 but with 2012 decals on white palstics.
2010 Beta Evo 80
The evo 80 was only bought for his little last week and ridden for the first time at the weekend
I will post the frame numbers up when im told them, there is a reward for these bikes being recovered as well, any info greatly appreciated.
-
also check the swinging arm bearings, i had play on the back end and it turned out the needle rollers were shot
-
thanks for the info, i might give the converters ago unless i can find some one breaking a 2007. will have a think cheers
-
has anyone converted the rev 3 to fat bars?
ive got a 2006 rev 3 and was toying with the idea. if you have what kit have you used?
-
10-15 yrs ago when i was riding youth trials my parents where youth secretary and clerk of course etc for my local club, we used to get as many if not more riders at youth only events than adult trials, kids from all over used to come....as did dabill and browny, the east yorks centre clubs used to run loads of youth only trials and nationals which sadly seems to have stopped. as such we only seem to have a select few kids riding trials in the area, certainly nothing like the numbers 10years ago which makes you question the future of the sport.
i beleive the sport needs to be advertised and shown on tv as with MX etc and more effort should be put into bringing youth trials back to the top of the list.
-
essexukay - fully agree with you there. pretty much all other motorsport seems to have slots on tv / sky etc except trials. occasioanly some obscure channel that no one knows about shows an hours worth of a two day world round. fim / acu need to push to get the sport back in the public eye, when people ask what sport you do and you tell them they look blankly back at you until you mention kickstart.......ohhh yes i remember that etc etc.
the other point is no stop is just plain boring, i have just got back into the sport after a 10yr break and i still practice stop and hoping (not as good anymore) and thats the way i prefer / enjoy riding. changing to no stop will not change the results or get more riders, and in fact i belive will be worse for the sport by turning away the few spectators we actually do get.
