  1. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I have been blaming my Mrs for deleting it all day. No point telling her it wasn't on is there? Hopefully it will be on again soon. Last year they showed all of the rounds near christmas so there is always hope! Rich
  2. Hi Jonnyboy, sounds like an ideal starter bike you've got there. Have you stumbled accross the local clubs yet? On Saturday 6th August there is a fun trial and a training day at Hut Hill near Chandlers Ford. Its Waltham Chase club. There are a few choices for clubs locally including Waterside, Ringwood, Gosport and Alton. All have websites which can soon be found. Rich

  6. I took a girl home last night, we had a few drinks at mine and then we went upstairs. We just got on to the bed and started ripping each others clothes off... Then a voice came from the bed and said, "I hope that's not that fat bird from last week." The woman said, "what the heck was that?" I said, "Oh no it's that **** ing memory foam mattress again."
  7. I've got an 02 290 which was quite agreesive when I got it. It had the fast action throttle on it. I replaced this with a slow action throttle which made a difference. However the best thing I did was go down to 9 teeth on the front sprocket from a ten, best
  8. The first outdoor round is scheduled for Thursday night 10.30pm to 11.30pm. Eurosport 2 UK. TV listings don't show any repeats as yet so could be your only chance to see it.
  9. Ever wondered why they buried Bin Laden at sea? It was always going to happen.. LOB DA MAN IN SEA is an anagram of his name
  10. Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day and picked out a box of Tampax. They proceeded to the checkout counter to pay. The man at the counter asked the older boy, "Son, how old are you?" "Eight", the boy replied. The man continued, "Do you know what these are used for?" The boy replied, "Well... not exactly, but they aren't for me. They are for my brother and he's four. We saw on TV that if you use these, you'd be able to swim and ride a bike. He can't do either yet."

  12. Following the death of Eddie Stobart today a film is being made of his life. It looks good, I've seen the trailer! Also, how ironic is it that Eddie Stobarts life was limited to 56?
  13. Yes it can be glued. There are some other threads about it in the Sherco section. I left the fuel hose connected to the tank while messing around changing a plug. Usually the tank would balance on the frame and seat, but not this time, the tank was fairly full and as soon as it fell, it was left hanging by the hose. Following someone elses advice on here I bought some Q-bond ultra strong adhesive. It is a normal looking clear super glue but comes with a seperate strengthener, clear for plastic and grey for metals. It does say it is Petrol And Oil Resistant, and heat resistant upto 180 degrees. Not sure what modern araldite is like, may be just as good. To take off the block I slowly rocked it left to right with some mole grips and it broke loose. I cleaned around the block and removed any excess glue that was left and stuck it back on, once it was firmly on I ran around the outside edge with more glue. I've been out about a dozen times on the bike since and have no leaks. Its also worth investing in a cheap tube of super glue remover (pound shop) as I was messy and the glue ran down the side of the tank onto the paint work, I rubbed the glue remover on with my finger, left it ten minutes and it wiped off with no damage to the paintwork. 14. I also have Michelin front and IRC rear. Anytime I go below 5 psi it goes flat on any drop offs or steps. Its getting annoying now, a new rim tape is on order. (Note to self - learn to leave it at 5 or 6 and forget looking at every one elses nice flatish Michelins) When you do decide on a tyre, it may be worth getting your tyre supplier to fit it, many trials dealers will do this free of charge for you if you take in the rear wheel. No one has mentioned the Pirelli MT43 rear yet, my bike came with a nearly new one fitted. I rode the bike in the snow back in december and the grip was amazing! It is a very hard tyre compared to the IRC, it rode and lasted well in normal conditions. It is just a shame it didn't grip very well in the wet mud and thats all we have where I am!
  15. Nelson Mandela is sitting at home watching TV and drinking a beer when he hears a knock at the door. When he opens it, he is confronted by a little Chinese man, clutching a clip board and yelling, "You Sign! You sign!"Behind him is an enormous truck full of car exhausts. Nelson is standing there in complete amazement, when the Chinese man starts to yell louder. "You Sign! You sign!"Nelson says to him, "Look, you've obviously got the wrong man", and shuts the door in his face. The next day he hears a knock at the door again. When he opens it, the little Chinese man is back with a huge truck of brake pads. He thrusts his clipboard under Nelson's nose, yelling, "You sign! You sign!"Mr Mandela is getting a bit hacked off by now, so he pushes the little Chinese man back, shouting: "Look, go away! You've got the wrong man! I don't want them!" Then he slams the door in his face again. The following day, Nelson is resting, and late in the afternoon, he hears a knock on the door again. On opening the door, there is the same little Chinese man thrusting a clipboard under his nose, shouting, "You sign! You sign!"Behind him are TWO very large trucks full of car parts. This time Nelson loses his temper completely, he picks up the little man by his shirt front and yells at him; "Look, I don't want these! Do you understand? You must have the wrong name! Who do you want to give these to?"The little Chinese man looks at him very puzzled, consults his clipboard, and says 'you no nissan main dealer?
  16. Yes the 12mm bolt just screw into the bracket on the cdi box so should undo no probs. I too have issues with water when washing the bike off. A bit of gaffa tape over the join does the trick for me. Rich
  17. Every time I put my tank back on I have the same problem. Think I have sussed it now though. To get the tank on, take the 12mm bolt out that the little hex bolt goes into. (Into the cdi unit?) Screw it in so it starts on the thread, but only turn it a tiny bit so its quite loose. From there put your tank on, stick an allen key / screwdriver into the 12mm tank bolt and line it up. Once lined up you can press down on the tank with one hand and then you can stick your normal hex bolt in and as it tightens, it tightens the 12mm tank bolt. Now stand and admire the work you have just done and realise you forgot to put the spark plug cap back on Then on the fuel cap, I find if i screw it on gently it leaks when I fall off / throw the bike on the floor / do a step. Yet if I press it down very firmly and straight it will then turn quite tightly and is leak free. The first time I did it I thought I was going to break it. I think there is 3 grooves, and I'm guessing its got to be screwed past all three to work effectively. Both issues are probably connected to the tank expanding over the years. Try not to leave it stood with fuel in for too long is what I was told. Out of interest do bolt on the rear guard? Try cable ties, as they are much cheaper than replacing the mudguard when it snaps every time you fall off! I only use a bolt at the front of the seat. Let us know if this works! I'm curious now and awaiting a real fix for the tank issue. Cheers, Rich
  18. If you have series linked the indoor series, watch out for next saturdays as it on at 20.30 gmt, I'm guessing its not live and the series link didn't link it up.

    290 for newbie

My 290 had standard sprockets and a slow action throttle. I'm not touching the timing so I put a 9 tooth front sprocket on to replace the 10 tooth. I took the bike to a trial today for the first ride and it seems like a different bike and is much smoother. 2nd gear for most things, but for dead slow 1st was perfect. Its the best
  20. Cheeers Cope! I took the seal out and it was covered in grit and not in the best condition. I replaced it as the circlip was also rotten and fell into pieces. It still took forever to bleed it, I think I was being too fussy expecting both pistons to push out together. However all sorted now, and I am not going anywhere near the back brake again!
  21. I found a small leak in the breather pipe on my rear brake. I took the master cylinder off and got all of the crap out from behind it. I've now fitted new pads too and reverse filled with fluid. If I use a syringe on the bleed nipple and also one on the breather outlet I can easily push fluid between the 2 syringes with no bubbles. If I tighten the nipple, it pushes both pistons out with no problems at all. As I push the piston in, it fills the syringe. Everything seems great... But whenever I push the master cylinder, either with the pedal or with a screwdriver I have no movement. Is this likely to be the seals or could it be the m/c that is knackered? Surely I don't need to bleed it anymore? Any help much appreciated. Rich

    sherco 2003 290

I've just had the same problem. The tank was sitting nice and flush, I took it off for about a fortnight, went to put it back on the bike and it seemed as though the wiring was stopping it. I moved all of the wires, took the electrics out and it still wouldn't fit. I left the top tank bolt (electric box holder special bolt)loose, I then put the actual tank bolt into that one and tightened it from there. As I tightened the top bolt it nipped up the bottom one and seems to have solved it as it slowly pulled it back to shape without too much stress on the plastics, I even ordered another one of the special bolts as I thought I had bent the original. I've now learnt my lesson to leave the tank on the bike and fairly empty when not in use. Hope this helps? Rich
