  1. Whats it like pistonbroken? Are you happy with it? I had the same with my Rev 3 but once all those bits are sorted it feels like new again.
  2. Don't panic. If the bike is clean and tidy and not bashed around you should find any bits are just consumables and once you work through it all you will have an ace bike. Bent, wobbly or clonking bits are a bad sign. If the exhoust pops and bangs it could be several thing but most likely the bikes been lifted using the silencer and this has made the joint leak. New o rings and re fit should cure it - might as well re pack it at the same time. Tyres, chains, sprockets, bearings and brake pads will always need doing on a second hand bike. At least when done YOU know when they have been done. Buy it, ride it and take time to work out whats feels not right. Make sure the dealer will let you come back within a month or so if you have major issues.

    Bearing Nos.....

Trials and Tribulations web site shop shows the numbers you need...... I get mine from Hayley Bearings & Seals at less than a third off the cost.
  4. Search for the most popular trans oil for the bike and change it, ride a few hours and change again. Once you have done this you need time to get used to the bike. It could be soemthing as simple as lever adjustment not being right. Lube the lever pivot as well. I use the expensive but very good Putoline Nano Trans oil. Since on this oil I have never had a clutch issue with my Rev3 - I have not had to do the "mod" either.
  5. :chairfall: :chairfall: that is so true!
  6. Sorry to hi jack the thread but what compressor (size/air volume) do people use to pop out there tyres?
  7. Go back to the dealer and get them to check it all out. If they can't make any sense then get them to write a statement explaining how they come by the bike and the circumstances in which you have bought it in good faith. The dealer may have been duped as well so try to be nice about it unless it goes sour then call in the dogs! If it were my pride and joy being sold on after being stolen I know I'd never see it again (if numbers filed off) but I'd like to see people involved in the process getting their collar felt. You never know but if it turns out a stolen bike and the owner traced you may get a reward? I know I'd chuck someone a bundle of cash if they found my bike! Good luck.

    Evo Silencer

My guess is it is very similar principle to a Rev3s?

    Best Premix Oil?

Surely not? I use that oil on the wife but I would not use it in my Rev 3!
  10. I'd bet on float issues. Search for Beta carb mod. Once you set the floats etc make sure you crimp the pin ends to make sure it does not slide about and jam the floats during riding. I always turn my fuel of and run it till it dies when I put my bike away. This way you know the carb is empty so no leaks or floods possible. 15 minute job to do the carb set up.
  11. Coke bottles hold fuel without problems as they are made to hold pressure. I have a bellt made from two 3 inch wide elastic stips sewn together with five gaps in the sandwiched material to let you put bottle into. I wear it round my waist and it works fine and you only need as many bottles as you need.
  12. Both mud guards! WTF!! Thats a wild day out.
  13. I think any 12 year old would be fine on a 125 regardless of experience as they are not scary to ride. It'll teach them a lot and most importantly good technique not just using the power. Once the tech is in place you can add power later after a couple of years. This makes a 125 very cost effective indeed.

    Beta Evo Project

I don't mind warm beer. It means you never have to worry where it's from. Especially if out the back of a van on a sunny day!
  15. Any clean and tidy 125 or 200. As long as it is all working and safe. It will get a hammering with a youngster on it so buy on condition not price (unless you go new?)
  16. Stiffer (heavier springs), re valving and different (thicker) oils, skill and techniques. Also a lot of scap bikes!
  17. Techincally yes but in reality no. I don't know anyone who does not rotate a trials tyre. It's not wise on a road bike or car directional tyre but you'll be fine on a trialer.

    Beta Exhaust

You could try both? Lightly pack and if really loud tightly pack? Packing is pennies really and should be part of your general maintenance but often overlooked. For what its worth mines is packed very tight but mine is a 200 not a 270. I have heard the popping bit can also be done to carb setting..... might be worth a search?

    Beta Exhaust

I used the flat material that BVM sell to re pack my Rev3 silencer very tightly. Sounds much better after. If you are getting pops and bangs you have a leaky gasket/joint and air is getting in. Remove the end can from the bike and the rear fastners on the black cap. Pull like mad! Its in tight. Pull the guts out and re wrap with the new material. Put back together. If you really want to clean out the rest..... Take off the whole pipe & bin all gaskets and o rings and order new ones. Mix up a strong caustic soda mix. Plug the end of the pipe with a spud. Fill the pipe with caustic mix - be very careful. Goggles and gloves essential. Leave at least overnight. Rinse through. Put back together with new O rings and gaskets. Ride a sweet sounding bike again.

    Best Premix Oil?

I use super unleaded as my bike seems to like it better (Rev3). Any fully synth oil will do at the right ratio. Never skimp on oil quality. There are loads to choose from. Putoline do a trials specifc oil. Other just a fully synth. It all works well. Morris do a nice smelling 2t fully synth (Like Castrol A747) without the gloop issues if your carb settings are slightly off.
  21. Ride and enjoy. If it works for you then great. With the second hand market you get bikes which have been set up right and feel great or ones set up badly and feel horrible. This is good as it is only settings and you will be amazed at what can be adjusted to improve things as your technique improves - or not if your like the rest of us! You can still fiddle anyway.
  22. It will only be a float height setting issue. It's a fine line between spot on or annoying niggles.
