  1. I've clicked on all my IT devices! I'm going to the island for my 40th and need to use the lanes
  2. It'll make things leaner I reckon across everything.
  3. Firstly, well done on your purchase. Secondly, there is a massive difference between the 200 and the 270. Also a few differences with the techno and the rev3 (which is the 270). Mostly though they all need the same checks and love. Oily bits need to be clean and oily. Dry bits need to stay dry. Wet bits need to be wet. All bits need to work together as the manufacturer intended. I would guess (my knowledge does not go back as far as the techno) that the previous owner would be able to tell you how much gear oil it needs and the type he used. I'd stick with that to start with. Run it only on quality pre mix two stroke oil. Things like adjustments etc can be discussed as you need to do things. Get used to riding a bit a see what you feel is not right, feels weird or makes an odd noise. From this point there will be loads of advice pouring your way! I'd still try the Beta importer though for the main specs if you can't find elsewhere. You could always email BVM moto and ask them if they have an old manual that could be copied/scanned. Some one will have one I am sure. If you fancy a trip to South Wales I go out most weekends and also in the week if time allows. I am 5 mins from Jct 23 M4.
  4. It'll depend on a lot of other things as well such as altitude and temperature. You should be able to get the info if you email Lapkins for a general set up (jets). You can fine tune it then with the needle and mixture screw.
  5. What stuff are you looking to do?
  6. I thought this may be the case. I am sure not evryone is unlucky enough to break one. If you do one thing is for sure at a trial is that no one will have one either! Go standard and you can always blag or borrow one.
  7. If outdoor trials was on normal TV I reckon it would have a chance. Costs are soon forgotten when "air time" is used well. Loads of people used to watch Kickstart and generally whole families not just a keen enthusiast.
  8. Sounds like riding is the way ahead. I'd agree with this as a well maintained bike is a pleasure to ride. The more you ride the more proficient you get (up to a point). I fitted a new rear tyre for a mate at the weekend. The old one had been on his bike for 10 years! It was a very old X11 and not only bald but was like plastic not rubber. His 270txt is now sporting a part worn X-Lite which feels like a water filled ballon in a suppleness comparsion. He reckons it has transformed his bike - I'm not surprised.
  9. Nothings un breakable but these will definitely be better in an off. You would be able to buy five levers for the price of those though. How often do you break levers? I buy a new when the old one gets sloppy and then keep it as a spare - just in case! They look very trick though.
  10. What is the best modification, new part or adjustment you have made which has made the best and biggest gain? New front section pipe? Shock? Suspension set up properly? Tyres? Wheels? Anything at all really which has made a noticable difference for the better.
  11. Have a look on the Beta website or even Lampkins. You get a download at either place. If all else fails email Lampkins and they will tell you what you need to know or can scan or photcopy the bits you need and send them by email/post.
  12. I heard Coca Cola are looking to personally sponsor Rossi. They were going to front the cash when he was going to lease a Yamaha some months ago but the rule changes meant is was a no go. I think Rossi would just be glad to get the odd win again or at least be in the fight. He has nothing left to prove but wants some fun. Stoners outrageously tough riding style and talent is the only reason the Ducati won. Stoners style is unique and i am doubtful that even Cal could make the Desmo do what Stoner did. Stoner continues to be the only rider to use the inside kerb to open up corner so he can straight line it on max power. He is at full whack sometimes when other are faffing around trying to open the throttle on the dge of the tyre. If you are not worried about being on the edge of the tyre it is one problem you don't have to solve using Stoners method which is why Stoner did well on the Desmo compared to anyone else. Stoner also suffered many front end crashes when he had to push the front like everyone else.
  13. You could get a cobbler to remove the smooth wearing sole and fit a trial sole?
  14. KB Trials - :hyper:
  15. Should be olympic if the entrant uses bio degradeable fuels and oils such as these http://www.aspen.se/Aspen_(eng)/Consumer/Products/Alkylate_Petrol/Aspen_2 It works fine in water cooled motors as well. They also do a 4t specific fuel.
  16. Whers the leak from? Its an easy fix in the gear lever shaft seal is gone.
  17. Thats a nice guide which sums it up nicely!
  18. This is the problem "hear the floats". You need the carb off and on the bench in good light to check the finer points of floats and operation of the valve. Carbs always rattle so you will "hear" things bu tit does not mean it is right. More reasearch needed I'm afraid but I reckon your close.
  19. There is science in this fuel malarky then?
  20. I'll be out for a blat this Sunday but early and only for a couple of hours. PM me and we can arrange a day later in August and make a proper job of it?
  21. If you fancy driving down to Newport, South Wales I am happy to show you my practice ground and pass on my limited techniques. It would get you started. I have two places to go. One has rocks, slopes and open ground or a woodland with mud, roots, streams and hills. I'm two hours from you but if you had a day set aside you would get four solid hours riding and travelling included and be home for tea and cakes!
  22. I take it that you have checked the floats are not sticking or the pin has moved etc? Float height adjustment and the tiny actuating tab set correctly?
  23. Remember that a trialer is very different to MX and RR bikes. It is all about torque and technique/balance. The balance bit is a biggie and it will take time to get it. Try pulling away in third gear (two up from neutral) as it will be calmer! 1st is not often used for general mucking about but some use second a fair bit. You want to master riding at tickover and the clutch lever fully out. This will help a lot .
