slipped again?
how long to you guys lap the wheel on for 5 mins 6 hours?
i also tightened it with an impact gun!
-
can ya not just get some sort of tool for holding the flywheel guys?
-
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
flywheel has slipped again!lolfeck it!
how much do you torque the flywheel to?
-
tooka mad notion last night, was in the garage to 1am!
i had bought 2 sets of helicoils just recently and thought they might come in handy sometime!
so all sorted now!
handy enough justdrilled all the remaining bolt out, threaded the hole and helicoil stright in ,jobs a goodun
-
cheers peter, prob will need a few more keys lol!
i had a 2 leg puller that i just slide 2 m8 bolts into and in turn screw the 2 m8s into the flywheel, and i can hold the puller with visegrips while i tightened the nut!
so i hope it lasts a while to i get a few more keys
-
right was gonna sell my bike and buy newr, but whats the point, only ride in the winter usually, and its rare at that!
qustion is where do i get a decent price on a new clutch master cylinder!
can you get aftermarket cylinders,or do i have to shell for a beta part?
also i discovered the 2 pinch bolts that clamp the front axle where sheared! ahhhhhhh
gonna have to try and drill these out, then maybe a helicoil, unless anyone has a handy tip for that!
-
well its ther to set the timing < so if the flywheel has slipped on the crank and sheared the key it has moved and knocked the timing out!
non running bike! instant
-
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
right i got 2 genuine beta woodruff keys on friday, there both now sheared
so i found a piece left of a decent one of something else,i think its finally seated and working now i hope1
just took it round the block, seems fine, suppose i should torque it down again tomorrow after a ride?
theres very little key left holding the flywheel in position, but i gues its not the key that holds it,its the flywheel tightening on the crank!
i got a 2 legged puller and put it on the flywheel to hold it while i tightened the nut up,should work i hope!
-
easiest way to torque up the flywheel, anty easy tips to lock it in place while i tighten the nut!
-
thanks peter, just i was chattin to a gent at the weekend and i was telling him about my flywheel bother, shearing the key,
and he told me to lap it on!
-
does anyone lap the flywheel on the shaft with grinding paste?
i sheared the little key that holds it for the timing!
also what is the handiest way of locking the shaft to torque the flywheel down?
-
ill be trying it tomorrow, once i collect my woodruff key to get my flywheel on!
-
-
cheers lads,as long as its b4 2001!
local dealer tells me after 01 there a bit flimsy! too lightweight!
i have my 06 beta, just looking something older for a bita crack
-
buying this gas gas probably, anyone tell me what year roughly?
would it be pre2001?
-
cheers benj,that is an idea!
-
how come every time you take something off its a big hassle putting it back on!
do these parts bend when on the bike stretch?
i took the sump gaurd off the bolts nearly took my eye out!
-
i gues that is to balance the weight on your crank!
-
funny you say that dan,my old 250 does feel sharper!
and yes its an 06 270!
i shall take a look in there romorrow
-
cheers,it was very timid i thought for a 270 when i got it,since i got the stator rewound,i moved the timing forward about 1 mm! feels a lot sharper now, gonna have to see if it overheats quickly now though!
-
how far can you advance the ignition without starting to overheat etc
on a rev3270 2006
-
how much is a stator for the rev3 270 2006?
ive asked for prices from a few guys and they came up with wildly varying figures?
from 90 to over 200 quid?
the only bit i damaged was the little black box that sends the spark from the cdi!
the stator and windings itself are fine! i know what the prob is,just wonder if it can be sorted without a new stator?
-
im not sure what the problem is?
but i hope the windings arent it!
my mate has my old 04 beta,so when we gewt a mo have to try his bits off it in mine and see
-
well what happened was that i put 2 new bolts in the flywheel weight!.they were slightly longer oops.
when i went to kick her over the bolt caught the little black box,and did the damage, gonna try to sort it to see if i can regain my spark,i just need to see what it should be like,ie the cover that i put into pieces!
-
well i take it the little black plastic box with the 3 wires is a pick up from the cdi?
theres no damage to my coils as stated, just broke the cover off that littlle black box by the look of things,
