  1. Q1 - as everyone does a rider starts out as a novice. Once you win an event or win your class you are promoted at the end of the year by the CMA. You have the right to challenge the promotion if you feel the next level is too difficult. Basically you progress if you win your class or do very well in you class throughout the year. There are nationals also. q2 - The organizers are experienced and know the riding levels vs section difficulty. Even with this the section difficulties are discussed every year to hopefully get them right for the riders. q3 - we have a CMA national standard, red tap right, blue left etc etc and marking cards for the lines. you still find each area has their own way, some areas and clubs do not sanction with the CMA. finally, there is an open process for riders / members to submit their rule changes and comments then are requested by the CMA. Based on that they accept or don't accept the proposal. that's a very brief summary. cheers bob edit added - some areas and clubs do not sanction with the CMA.
  2. located at CMA News cheers b
  3. I measured mine and they're dropped about 1 1/4 inches about to the centre of the back break pivot. definitely higher than a straight line with the axels. unless you're worried about restoring to orginal i would cut the old studs off as they're just too high, old pegs are too thin and short for safe riding in my opinion. cheers b
  4. Hi I lowered mine to where AMO has his but mine are basically straight down. I'm 5'7" so going back is not needed for me. I did raise my renthal 5.5" bars another 1/2 inch with risers like AMO. My peg to grip gap is now very close to my modern bike and the improvement in the feel of the ossa is vg. I went with new brackets and new style pegs, cut the old off. cheers b
  5. Hi all The CMA Canadian National Championships rounds have been confirmed. 1 - June 13 @ Oshwekin ON - Steel City Riders 2 - Aug 21 @ Tweed ON - ATA 3 - Aug 22 @ Arden ON - ATA see ya there b
  6. Hi Tom The CTCG reps have the canadian competing riders numbers at approx 425 in 2009. best regards bob
  7. Hi Mike the ctcg is a growing riders voice but it will take time, flexibility and patience. hopefully the canadian glass is half full now. cheers b billyard
  8. Hi Mike What do you suggest to move towards growth? best regards b billyard
  9. you think wrong, the figures are from the reps themselves and take into consideration all competing riders in canada, they're the most accurate numbers we have and will be updated as we move forward.
  10. Hi all Since the CTCG start up in October three more representatives have joined. I would like welcome Stephan Vallee representing Nova Scotia, Spencer Fitschen President of the Canadian Pacific Trials Association (CPTA) in BC and Heather Wall representing the 2nd Gear club in Alberta. The CTCG has put together a Terms and Definition work sheet that in part captures all active clubs and competing riders plus their sanctioning affiliation. I am happy to pass along that current active riders represented by the CTCG is 80% based on our present numbers, in addition other clubs in BC have shown interest, hopefully we
  11. thanks for the info everyone, sent rex an e-mail looks like i'm needing to bore it out (.005 piston clearance now) cheers
  12. i tend to agree that a well set machine is good, i do like the 28mm oko change. i will go with the lighter clutch springs, do you have a contact for him? much appreciated
  13. i have the case and reeds but i want to take it one step at time plus I'm pretty happy with how it's running right now, playing with the idea of lightening the flywheel also, maybe next winter cheers bob
  14. Hi all I currently compete on my mar and this winter will be taking a close look at the cylinder, piston, rings etc and clutch to freshen up. What do you suggest i use for the clutch, surflex?, barnetts?, what springs etc, any suggestions for lightening the pull. Any porting alterations or better alternatives over the tarabushi pistons / sleeves. Just looking for your experience and suggestions. I using the ossa works manual for specs. just as a side note i've raked some rock shocks to the 1976 position, lightened the bike a bit, lowered the pegs and fitted a 28 mm oko, not interested in fitting a reed case. cheers bob

i tried before, but the function is not working to allow me to sign up to sponsor, my Borus account would n't let me sign in before but now it does, so i thought it was deleted, could be just me getting it wrong somehow?, haven't approached andy yet about this stuff. will do so. i used to be a member but let it slide... cheers
  17. I think it makes a lot more sense for private teams with sponsors. the bike manufacturers can then support them as they see fit and within budget. look what's happened to f1, keep the prices a low as possible. how much of each bike price goes to support a manufacturer wr team? cheers bob
  18. Steve Fracy, you don't know the facts, I'm the only one who knows what took place, a XiSPA was never promised, only that an effort would be made to get him one, we made a big effort to get a bike but XiSPA was not at the TDN and I am not in a position to purchase a bike for one day TDN ride in Europe like the Americans. The rider made the trip to the TDN knowing a XiSPA was not available. He took his chances on finding a bike to ride. Again, XiSPA never promised a bike for the TDN for me or my rider. Can it not be enough that I'm trying to sponsor riders "expert and youth" in Canada. Or will you find something wrong with that too.
  19. hi all keeping your factory overhead lower than your competition is key. Among other things the small efficient XiSPA factory has no world round team. I wonder how many $ are added to each bike to support such an effort by the other brands. Don't get me wrong, I like to see the brands compete against each other but the private team approach makes the most sense to me. cheers bob
  20. hi zippy, i asked for you at the Windsor trial in Aug., i had my 250 XiSPA there, a number of experts tried it out etc. i hope to make my way to one of your trials in Michigan, to answer, it has a Paioli linkless shock, OKO 28mm carb that works excellent. cheers bob
  21. i love the facts, thanks martin, my two XiSPA's (250 and 280) have had a few teething issues but my son's 250 has seen 4 trials so far and he rides it 2-3 hours a day with out exaggeration. Needless to say he's riding it like any 18 year old would. XiSPA Spain are very good to work with and whatever teething issues are resolved. Just some more facts from someone who has a few XiSPA's. best regards bob

    The Oko 24 Rock Test

OKO 28 mm XiSPA 250/280 - main 125 / pilot - 45 / needle JJH / middle clip OSSA 250 - except needle moved up one clip (may try a 48 as the air screw is just a 1/2 turn out) normal is 3/4 OSSA 350 - except pilot - 48 major improvements on the OSSA'ss, OKO's don't seem to be a finicky as the Keihin, basically set and run i realize these are not sherco's but it gives alternatives for the OKO - all bikes run very good. best regards bob

    The Oko 24 Rock Test

My XiSPA's 250 and 280 come with the OKO 28 and they run great. I fitted the very same OKO to my 1972 250 OSSA Mar, same jetting as the XiSPA 250, raised the needle one clip and it runs absolutely perfect. cheers bob
