  1. at normal timing the caby has very strong fast linear power (on / off type power), at retarded timing the caby has very controllable smooth power, i'm currently using a slow throttle, one thing nice about a 2t is you can dial in the power you want with ignition timing the 4t has very strong and long linear power, i didn't mind the fast throttle at all although i might be tempted to try the slow throttle to compare. btw, the 4t is a blast to ride, i now know why everyone says that. both motors run excellent, the caby is and feels lighter, easier to flick around, the 4t extra weight is felt right where it is, high and forward. once your riding the 4t the weight is not an issue, if you jump right back on the 2t it's noticeable. i do wonder if the 4t may beat you up a bit more in a long tough trial? i can feel the difference of the maps on the caby, could not feel the difference on the 4t, maybe requires more map testing to understand the difference on the 4t. i did ride a couple of small sections with both bikes, i thought that maybe the 4t tracked better but it was near the end of the day when i tried the 2t again and i was tired. i'm leaning in the direction of the 4t because of the power characteristics, but i'm very happy with the caby also. to me it is not that one bikes better, it's which one is right for you? cheers
  2. had a 4 hour ride (starting and stopping alot) on a brand new 10th aniversery today with the sps carb, started first kick everytime, no hesitation at all, it simply ran great, lots of power, pulls like a tractor, i was impressed cheers

  5. hi does anyone have any experience with the madrid motorcycle alpha bikes or their 301cc kit? if so, what differences have you felt, (sure, more power) but what about traction etc. cheers
  6. great feedback, now it will interesting to see if the new ignition advance curve on the 09's makes a difference, i'm planning to find as soon as i can cheers

    Taming The 4t

i guess the other variable is the new ignition advance curve for the 09's, would be nice to know what changes sherco have made, i'm wondering if they've toned it down a bit?? \ cheers

    Taming The 4t

i'm seriously considering a 09 4t however the last test ride i had on an 08 i felt it was just too powerful for me at that time. my guess to tame it a bit would be a slow throttle, run it on the softer map and maybe a sprocket change. aside from that has anyone added flywheel weights, if so what do you think and what other possibilities are there. i know this is way out there but has anyone played with the mapping like on the mont 4rt? cheers

    4rt To 2t To 4rt

Hi i didn't want to steel jimw thread so i started another one building on jimw thread quote "Hello all, I had an '05 Mont a couple of years ago but then went the 2 stroke route. I fancy a return and am currently weighing up my options" i'd love to hear your thoughts behind going from the 4rt to 2t and why you considering a change back anybody else wanting to share their 2t to 4t experience would be appreciated cheers

    More Softening!

on my 07 i tried the maxima 75 wt then went to the amsoil synth 10w40. didn't really feel a difference in the clutch. i do feel the clutch is spot on at this point, smooth and progressive. i have inspected it and it shows no wear at all. i also feel that the "stuck clutch when starting" syndrome has reduced since going to synth (maybe my imagination). on my yamaha 1600 cc roadstar i had changed to amsoil and the engine noise dropped significantly (air cooled big twins give you a lot of feedback), little more difficult to detect anything noise reduction with a 2t. cheers

    Borus 07cab Setup

your welcome, of course the entire setup is from sherco's research for caby/keihin setup. glad to pass it along. with a slow throttle, map1 and 2.5 mm retarded the bike is perfect for me. it's way too much for me in the standard set up. i keep thinking about the 4t but i'm not sure i want to give up the 2t power flexibilty??? cheers

    S3 225 Kit

did you fit any flywheel weights or does that come in the kit? cheers
  16. great trial, i'll be down again, i rode in senior, no, that wasn't me with the "one" , that's my third trial since around 1980 so i got a bit of catching up to do, i guess i'd have to get an ama card to ride in michigan? cheers bob
  17. my 07 caby (new in 08) was very stiff and knotchy jumping out of gear from time to time, my dealer suggested making a concentrated effort to make sure every change is solid, he has not seen tranny issues, once run in it should be fine. he was right, shifts great now that its run in, hope thats all it is... cheers

    S3 225 Kit

great, i see you ride a 280, give us a comparison to your bike cheers
  19. my dealer is looking into it, if not, he'll stand behind it, it's just bending too easy so i agree with you, something got missed in the process. thanks for the reply cheers
  20. my kick start lever is bending in the shaft, not the where your foot rests, i decided to put it in a vice and try bending it back with some heat, rode today and she is starting to bend again, do i have faulty one or is this common? btw, my bike doesn't kick back and starts 1 or 2 kicks, it is a caby with the "different head" don't know if it's high compression or not. cheers
  21. do like it otherwise, whada you think? cheers

    S3 225 Kit

good stuff, much appreciated Spencer, obviously more power and lighter than the 200 (175). not being negative but did you investigate the possible effects of the extra 100cc of power on the 125 cc engine components or is it going to be more of a wait and see or is it no issue? i would assume this is fairly new after market gear, has it been tested out? cheers, beers on me when i come out to bc

    S3 225 Kit

just looking for feedback from anyone who has fitted the S3 225 kit for the 125 gg. cheers
  25. well, the stock pipe weight is 2 lb's or .9 kg's. so i guess a person would be shedding 1.2 lbs or .5 kg's with a titanium header. cheers, thanks nigel edit - the s3 site (didn't realize it existed) claims a 400 g reduction from stock and dissipates heat better, that's if the translation program is working right
