  1. I've just spent about two hours on the new 2012 Ossa Replica with LSS and Termignoni, running it in. Starting is very very easy, with an easy kick when warm the bike is starts half way through your kick. cold appears to be two easy kicks. However, this bike is brand new so everything is still very tight. Nice. The Termignoni, as asked in another post, is great, lower throaty sound, lot's of power, dual map so map 2 does settle it down, I expect as the bike runs in the power will increase. I was using the slow throttle to start, I'm sure the fast throttle and a set of carbon reeds will turn it into a fire breather. For most, the bike stock is plenty. Very light a nibble, unfortunately I don't have one for myself. next time maybe...cheers oh, the LSS is not available yet as an after market, I'll check next Wed as Spain is on a National Holiday till then.
  2. Ok, hopefully this will help: For those who live a distance from their dealer or importer: Remove your ECU and throttle body, (takes 5 minutes), pop it in the mail, dealer programs it for you, sends it back. As for the maps, the new maps now come with very different power and characteristics. The map switch, now avail for all bikes switches between these two separate maps and is very useful and noticeable. For bikes currently without a map sw M1 in the map program is used. However, all maps can still be obtained as Ossa has provided the different maps in the M1 position in the program. The LSS system starts very very easy, the new maps start very easy (first kick when warm, 3rd when cold). Make sure your air filter is clean and lightly oiled, fresh plug, motor cleaned out with a good rev or 6th gear run, fresh gas, don't touch the throttle. All normal items but sometimes an owner needs to look at what they can do. Now: Just so the scale is balanced, most carb bikes don't run well unless they are new or well set up, many owners have no idea their carb bike is not running well from a carb perspective, (if I had a nickle for every time an owner says their carb bike is running sweet and I'm cringing at the sound of it), most owners can't set up their carb bike, jmo cheers, hope this helps
  3. the termignoni comes with the high comp head. the head does add a bit of a punch on it's own, the termignoni certainly adds more...
  4. here's the power curve, I have tested one, more power everywhere, and keeps on pulling at the top.
  5. The procedure is laid out in a document available via the importer to your dealers. I had had 5 ossa's at a ride day here and not one issue with starting and running at any engine temp. however all set at 1400 rpm, tps at at .6 V and map 13. hope this all helps you out. BTW, this set up of your idle and tps take about 15 min at most, and only needs to be done once. This is not a complicated procedure or onerous on the rider. I had a report of hard starting and through questioning it turned out the rider was running 80:1 mixture???. Sometimes its just a maintenance or small set up issue.
  6. It's not user adjustable, your dealer sets both the idle and tps with the diagnostic program. 1400 rpm is a good healthy idle, (you will see) anything less on map 13 and you will have trouble starting. there are no starting issues on map 13 therefore if a rider has issues they must look to maintanence or set up issues. cheers
  7. did your dealer set your tick over at 1400 rpm and tps at .6v after loading map 13? this is a new procedure, should only have to be done once, sorry to tell you but your starting issues are not normal on map 13 with this additional set up done. cheers
  8. map 13 starts easily, give it a stong smooth kick and don't touch the throttle. however if you want a bike to start in a 1/2 an easy kick then the ISS is the way to go as an add on for the 2011's and 12's. I have used both, this is not guess. I was asked to try starting an ISS bike with a half kick, while trying to edge the kick lever down to the 1/2 position the bike started. We all had a good laugh about it. The ISS is on the Replicas and Explorers this spring and is planned to be installed on the 2013's in the fall. I don't know what the price of the unit will be or when it will be available. To the question of what is Ossa doing about it, Ossa has been and is working hard to always improve and innovate. i.e. the ISS system and ever improving maps! cheers ps - why would your Ossa start hard - bad gas, bad spark plug, dirty air filter, touching the throttle while starting, weak kick, not running the latest map, not giving the bike a good hard clean out rev and long 6th gear run, incoorect premix, - all of those issues are easily addressed by the rider.

    Tr280i Gear Oil

75 W synthetic, i wouldn't use atf, amount is 350cc but make sure you measure what you drain and put the same back in. Oil should be at 3/4 in the clutch case sight glass.
  10. map 12 will sort things out for you - cheers
  11. what map are you on? Map 12 there are no issues. also, make sure you give it a good 6th gear run from time to time as you would all trials bikes to keep it breathing right. Also, no one should adjust the trottle body without setting the throttle position with the diagnostic tool. My golden rule to everyone, please don't touch the throttle body. cheers
  12. I don't think Ossa has said it won't be available for the existing models as an add on, my money is on it will be available, let's wait to see.
  13. trialsontario training The first, and hopefully many more to come, "trailsontario training" is holding it's first school on Sunday, April 22. Dan Johnson - Canadian National Champion 1998 and 2001 and Trevor Howarth - Canadian Champion 1978 will be your instructors. Details - please click here or the trialsontario training tab on www.trialsontario.ca See ya there
  14. I don't like the leader always going last. make it equal for all, no need to give the top riders a further advantage, which they don't need.
  15. With the new rear bearing kit the alxe length is maybe 1mm too long. Simply shave 1mm off the end of the axle or grind and you will find no issue. cheers
  16. Hi Taff - is this on Youtube? what is it's title or what do I search under or the link? thanks

    2012 Ossa Tr 2801

take a look at this, will give you an idea of what it all about http://www.ossacanada.ca/Ossa%20TR280i%20Transmission%20Removal%20and%20Installation%20-%20General%20Overview.pdf cheers

    2012 Ossa Tr 2801

you don't have to remove the clutch case, just loosen it a bit, crack it open and drain the oil from the clutch side. it take and extra 2 min. measure what you drain and fill the same. some people have drilled a hole in the bottom case of the tranny to allow oil to follow back and forth from the clutch to gears. This requires removing the tranny. 1/2 hour job. If Ossa wanted this fix they would have included it on the 2012 model. They did not. This has nothing to do with bad machining. You should turn over the motor to get an accurate site window reading after filling with oil. the oil flows through the clutch. hope this helps.
  19. I've not run into any kick start installations where it was close to the frame. Here is an installation guide - http://www.ossacanada.ca/Ossa%20TR280i%20Clutch%20Case%20Installation2.pdf Hope this helps - cheers
  20. Glad it helps. it's rather easy that way. I think because the Ossa is unique there are some tricks to working on them etc. Once riders get the knack to starting they're really no issue. The latest map appears to have more power everywhere and revs freer, same starting and maybe a little higher tickerover. JMO "welcome to the future" cheers
  21. Remove the disc protector and lift the wheel straight up. The caliper comes off with the wheel. When you install, place the caliper on the disc first then drop the wheel straight down. You will see the other end of the caliper housing fits nicely in the hub which allows it to fit properly. cheers
