  1. It is very hard to know what to do for the best-- cant please everyone all the time i guess!-- We are lucky enough to know a lot of these riders in europe/ UK and had taken advantage of that to get them over here in the past in an effort to try and promote the sport here, both helping riders here and at the same time allowing the euro riders to see some of the USA-- all this in an effort to try and generate enthusiasam promoting progress in the sport trials here in the USA, we have had come over such names as, Jim Lampkin organising several scools on the west coast, then Alex Wigg and Sam haslem (got a right royal roasting for that!)-- we have also had Shaun Morris over several times-- we could bring more and try and do this on a regular basis... but it seems every time we do,-- we get this UK vs USA nonsense. Seems there is never a problem while they are here teaching putting on demos and trainning , but as soon as they do an event we always have a problem!--- i must add, MOST are very appreciative , but just a few are not so , It would be nice to try and get over this hurdle and bring some more high calibre riders over to try and improve from---this i feel would bring the USA trials scene more in line with the european trials scene and over time feel improve our relationships bringing more oppertunities for riders to go there and ride also. Any way, thats my two pennies worth for what its worth!
  2. No Jive!!-- your trusty new steed awaits you!!!!!
  3. To Eric and the Stortz family, we dont get on here too often , but both Mandy and I felt we wanted to offer our best wishes at this very stressful time and hope everything goes well for Eric --you are all in our thoughts. Adrian & Mandy Lewis.
  4. Martin--got your e mail-- sounds good-- just need to get folks motivated--will be at Keyesville this weekend and speak to VOTE club and we are planning a trip to the Columbia cup this next year with our youth team so as Mark says i think this would work really well as a northern round-- just need to sort out a venue here-- i have an area fairly close that would be fine for a 2 day on private land ! What do we call it?--
  5. So-- whos in for trying something on the west coast this next year-- i have spoken several folks in the oregon seattle area and to some folks in the Socal area--so whats stopping us?? lets make this happen-- all we need is say 3 venues to run a 2 day event-- that gives us 6 rounds-- that should be a good base to start-- and maybe we can build on that as it becomes more popular??--somewhere in the keysvilleare that socal use and a sactopits event and one other in oregon? thatkeeps travelling to a minimum-- could even run a twin shock class too??----ideas?? interested??
  6. Hey up big John-- i have a possibility of 8 rtl bikes here for sale as a job lot-- know anyone interested??
  7. Crazy--Absolutly crazy!!---Dosent give the west coast riders any incentive to attend---About time it was split into sectors-- west -mid and east--get some numbers back into attending larger events!
  8. Sorry Laser1-- wasnt meaning to be clever-- its just we see this day in day out, i have been doing this both here in the USA and in UK for the last 32 years -- i talk to lots of customers every day with questions on trials -- i also mechanic for gas gas at nationals and i have to say that in all honesty -- MOST riders will never know the difference-- when i say most i mean the majority-- not saying everyones this way , BUT-- the MAJORITY of riders are lower to middle class and in general they have soooo many other things going on that how the suspension is working is last thing on there mind-- many a time i have run a training class and found bikes completly blown and the riders dont even realise!---it seems everone wants to set there suspension to hop and nose wheelie before learning basics. Hopping and trick ridding will come automatically and trainning thereafter is much easier!-- it is very hard to try and teach someone to hop when they cant balace and do a full lock figure 8 turns!!! The other thing you must appreciate is that every rider is not the same-- you and i may both be the same weight on the same bike in the same class and of eqaul level-- but you might be a heavy less technical rider than i -- vise versa-- so suspension on a trials bike is a very personal thing-- have it a soft as you can without bottomming out --obviusly drop off you would expect a bottom , but nothing very techcnical about drop off,s--the most important concepts of the trials motorcycle is based among other things about traction-- and for that we require a good soft slow suspension. The Marzocchi suspension will take a little longer than 10 hours also-- probably more like 30-50 hours before optimum performance is achieved.
  9. Been there! ----done that !! -=----trust me-- use the 10%-- ther is WAAAAAAAY to much info going on here-- its a trials bike not the space shuttle!!
  10. Nou then lad! ishy!!i seem to remember YOU riding one of those "big old boats"!! for the last few SSDT,s!!-------did you proud and finnished did you not!
  11. You gotta be kidding!-- if you have to stop every several hundred yards youve got some other serious problems going on i suspect--we have sold literally hundreds of these and i have used them myself for several years now-- we do NOT have to clean them every few hundred yards!--a little exageration i think!!-- you must not be cleaning them properly or something-- we have both types and i personnally have used both types -- they BOTH clog--and cleaning them is a pain-- i use a small butane blow torch wich does the task very quickly and efieciently!
  12. dfwilson-- for your info-- the mesh in the one we sell and ANY other LEGAL! spark arrestor is the same-- dosent matter if it is 1 inch diameter or 10 inches!----sorry to say but--guess what-- you have to CLEAN them once in a while!
  13. Be careful!-- dont try and title it here in the US!---epa would LOVE to know about that!
  14. So-- with fuel here going up seemingly every other day now-- what about a West coas series ? We have talked about it for a long time now , but nothing ever gets done- maybe we should bite the bullet and "just do it" Say maybe a 2 day in SOCAL , possibly Ridgecrest ?-- we could make our Pits event that we put on in September at "Bear Valley " a 2 day event here in NORCAL into a round and if someone in Oregon (ishy??) was up for it we could quite easily have 6 really good rounds to kick it off with. With time maybe we can involve other neighbouring states on this side of the country , Who knows what we could do-- maybe in time we have an, east --west-- central series of events and just one nationaal a year reducing some of the expenses involved in the nationals as we know them .....?
  15. Zippy!--this is EXACTLY what we mean-- there are very few serious dealers willing to spend money to actually stock parts--if you dont have the money-- and REALLY want to do it, then either borrow it or just forget it-- but just do it profesionally and seriously! No one goes to the mall to buy a pair of jeans and has to come back a week later to pick them up because the retailer didnt want to spend any money to stock them!-- the retailer is obligeted to have them, because if he dosnt , then someone else will!---- we have UPS and Fed Ex pick up every day-- and ship lot of parts every day-- thats why we have so many $$$$$ of stock-- not saying we dont make mistakes, but we consider ourselves a serious dealer. Anyone could and can do it ---if they are serious!--simple as that! Then, you dont have to drive to the dealer to pick up the parts he had to order because he didnt have them in stock and then took a week to get -- and you wont have to fix the bike at the trial! Just support the guys who are trying to do this properly--why buy from the importer?-- your giving the dealers a death sentence! So-- here we are back to square one-- do we need dealers??-- if importers are selling direct then we already dont i guess? But can that importer serve the whole country - help the guy whose bike is broken at a local event - I think not-- so -- maybe the key distributor serving all the wanna be dealers is the fix ??
  16. As one of the larger dealers here in the USA-We see fours and against in every ones comments-- Many credible things have been spoken here----as a dealer in the trials buisness for over 20yrs, both here and previously in the UK - with 2 retail outlets and bike sales there of over 300+ bikes a year, and sales of new bikes here of typically over 50+ bikes a year selling all 5 brands we can say that Trials alone here in the USA is STILL far from being a sole income buisness from a dealer aspect. We have over $150,000 invested in parts alone!--this buisness that takes every minute of the day and more!! Now--think about this a second--We pay EXACTLY the same price for a bike from the importer as the guy that , with the best intentions, buys one bike a year-and stocks----NOTHING!! Is this right or wrong?----- fair or unfair? I realise that all dealers have to start somewhere-- just as we did many years ago-- but -- when we embarked on this journey of passion we found the time and borrowed the money to buy stock -- then went to every trial we could-- being the first to arrive and the last to leave-- and if that meant working on customers bikes instead of riding then so be it----nothing has changed--we STILL do that today.--I am sure many customers would agree. We spend MANY hours a day sharing our knowledge with both customers and dealers -and we do this with pleasure. BUT! There comes a point where you just have to wonder--is it worth it? What can we do to better this situation-- we personaly believe a better incentive for the serious dealer especially from the importer--maybe base it on sales-- its not hard to work out! the more bikes you sell the better incentive you have--BUT-have a uniform price agrement between these dealers so that none of them dump bikes into another dealers market place. We already see many so called dealers selling bikes for less than $50 profit, just to say they sold a bike and remain a dealer--this HAS to stop. How can a dealer supply a bike to the other side of the country and service the customer correctly for $50--we have calls and E mails EVERY day from customers wanting that "special"deal--from all over the country and completly miss the guy 50 miles away trying to build a buisness in a already small market place.-- A uniform price would stop this. This kind of sales destroys second hand values --and can only continue to harm our sport. Why not have 2 or 3 main distributors for the importers across the country--who can then service the smaller dealer and customer more adequatley --is the importer so scared he is going to lose sales ??? It is very hard to say what is right and what is wrong--but something has to change--we cannot seem to go forward with as many so called dealers and no control of retail prices.--both for bikes ,parts AND accesories. If dealers and importers could just comunicate and work together as a network --maybe we can grow?
  17. Anyone want to buy a trials buisness??--think i will take up flower arranging!!!!!!!
  18. We have made this product for several years now-- it was first designed for the 315--coincidence that it also works well on the 4rt--it is a little different to use at first and you do have to apply a little more pressure than a stock pedal--but quickly becomes easy to use and NEVER gets hit or bent.

    Rtl 250

    Sorry guys!--both bikes are sold!
  20. Well well well!!-- here we are again, another debate on a subject of which no one has atempted to find out the REAL facts !! -- what on earth are we thinking!--calling people "uselss p.o.s."???--is there really any need for this outbust ?? in one breath we are saying the europeans are welcome-(tommi / bruce ect ect) and then there usless!--and now were gonna take it up with te NATC!!!-what are we going to suggest-- they can only come over and ride here if your a good boy and get a job??-ridiculas! FYI--we (lewisportusa) had been talking to Shaun since the world round at TTC about comming over and conducting some schools to try and help promote and encourge the trials scene here in the USA--we are very fortunate to personnally know many of the worlds top riders and have done the same thing for the last few years- with James Lampkin in 05 and last year Alexz Wigg and Sam Haslam . This year we invited Shaun to come over and experience this great country , and - try and give some input to anyone that may be interested to learn from a world class level rider.--thats all! nothing more--no contract to ride the 08 nationals--no gate crashing, no finacial gains--for us or him!--nothing!, just help, and here we are with a full blown debat on how we are going to try and stop him/them competing in the US nationals!!--now --i supose a US rider going to ride in europe is OK?--what if it were the other way round-- suppose for a moment that the US riders were better than the europeans-- do you really think they would behave in the same manner?--i think not! so lets just look at it for what it is--a world class rider invited over to try and help the sport--it was very rewading for us to see everyone follow the pros and Shaun around the national at New Mexico-- we also organised a trainning day on the thursday before and had ALL levels attend during the day--( including PRO!)--everyone had a great time and many expressed thanks for the opportunity to see such a rider in action. SO-please dont let us make this something it is not--we have not done this as a publicity stunt or any other reason other than to further the sport--it will cost both him and us considerable expense to achieve this and this kind of thing makes it harder and harder not only to try and get this level of rider want to come over, but to make aynone want to even try and get them over here! For everyones information--Shaun is around until the 12th september here in Norcal--and will be organising several schools as well as some personal tuition--also he will be helping / attending the El trial which is being held this year in Bear valey ski area in Norcal on the 8th-9th sep hosted by the Sacto pits club and put together by ourselves.
