  1. Dadof2 - thanks for clarifying your position. I think it makes sense in many ways, but I dont agree with your final outcome being as matter of fact as you state, but who knows. Anyway, thanks for the answers to my questions.
  2. Dadof2 - What is the basis for your claim that heavier and cheaper bikes will improve the trials market as a matter of fact. I think this is perhaps a "logical" assumption, but not one born out by the market from what I can see. (see my previous comments on eco bike et al.)
  3. The fight over what a trials bike should weight has been already fought. The market decided long ago.
  4. GasGas sells a less expensive eco bike that has all the trick bits removed to save cost and adds a little weight. (Steel pipe, pegs, forks ect..). They have done this for a number of years now. I know around here, they are rare compared to the std, lighter, much more expensive bikes. I think its a great option for some folks, but the majority of the market evidently wants a lighter, more expensive bike. So I don't know where the FIM thinks its going to get a bunch of new sales from, cause the lower cost model isnt the prime market driver from what I can tell.
  5. Not sure how bad crank seals are clogging the pilot jet? You need to clean everything. Change fuel filter, clean carb screen, new air filter with greased sealing surfaces. Check air box boot for leaks and new fuel. New fuel presumably w/o water in it. 2nd order, Theres also the top of the carb, Check the seal of the top cap and proper cable routing. Somethings getting in. Usually from one of the filters not doing its job.
  6. Maybe they insisted he actually drink the stuff....#dealbreaker.
  7. Why doesn't the FIM put any revision history in there tech rules documents? Seems very unprofessional. I guess that fits though.
  8. I wonder why the 2T mfg's are quiet about this???? I only hope they are working behind the scenes to rectify the problem. The fact that the most popular production displacement is now disallowed by the FIM is total BS. Not to mention that 4t's can still be 2x as loud as a 2t's. How does any of this save money. Name one company that eliminates it most popular and highest margin product and survives.
  9. Dabster linked this in the other FIM thread - I dont see any revision history in the document, but the feeling is that this was a very recent change. http://www.fim-live.com/fileadmin/alfresco/2013_Trial_Tech_rules.pdf
  10. Did I read that right - max 2t displacement is 290cc. If thats true, then most STD production 300 cc bikes will be out (292cc) what a bunch of BS. How does that save $$ - Getting rid of the most popular size 2t. And some people still deny a conspiracy.

    Smoking?

Thats most likely unburnt oil in your mid box. No big deal. Probably a result of your super conservative oil ratio.
  12. all of the press material specifically calls out a crankcase decomp system so doesnt sound like efi tricks.
  13. Didint see that you took side case off to drain the oil. Agree with above.
  14. See above - most likely the reason. Pull off side case and check for backed out hub center bolt, limiting the slave travel.
  15. When you say solid - do you mean that you start to pull in the clutch lever and it suddenly stops hard? If so, the center clutch retaining bolt has probably backed out and is limiting slave travel. If not, I dont understand what you mean.
  16. To answer your question - No. Have you tried to soften the suspension? Lower PSI in tires?

    Messy Oil Change

Jitsie makes a screw in pipe that makes changes really easy. You dont need one, but it helps.
  18. Do you take checks written on my Nigerian account? Some folks bring them down from Canada now - just didn't see any official announcement that Honda/Montesa was back in the USA.
  19. Anybody know if Honda will start exporting bikes to the USA again? Some seem to think so, but I haven't seen any announcements. Would be a real pitty if someone sold there old bike, thinking the new ones were coming.
  20. Since the FWW is the most money, most people try things like slow throttles and the above 10T and LC insert changes 1st.
  21. While I think your probably close miles wise, they dont call it the Mid East now do they..I rest my case. . I think the idea could bring in the riders who dont have the time/$$ to travel to all the events and may produce class winners who are the best riders vs the best drivers. (people who attend all the events) - but the reverse may also be true. That is, you could lose they guys that attend all the events so they can beat the better locals at year end. There's really only one way to find out for sure. Sorry if this is no help.
  22. Not a bad idea, but might be a problem in 15, NE is a west coast national if anything. Would have to get some other clubs to join in from the east.
  23. Check your ground connection.
  24. If the todo site poll is any indication, then I would say success is not a word to be used when describing the change. (2.5 to 1 prefer stop allowed). However, I have no idea if this poll is truly (&fairly) representative. But at least its a data point - haven't seen the FIM data. Would be nice to see if they have any. (I wont hold my breath given there history)
