  1. Glad to hear you have this problem solved! I have a pair of TL125's I'm bringing back to life. One is a 73 very tired barn find, the other a well kept 75. Now that you have the bike running well it's time to work on the suspension. Rear shocks are a must purchase to be competitive. And if that's the direction you're headed, consider the engine mods available. I chose the CB550 piston upgrade for the 73 and will later install the 150 big bore kit on the 75. Big difference in power! A set of modern trials handlebars help, too. Good luck!

    Beta Fan

Sounds like the problem I'm facing - bike boiled over while in Texas, then again a few weeks ago at our local trial. Tested the fan with a good 12v source and it ran well. Replaced the thermo switch & gasket along with the coolant. Noticed today that the fan was not coming on. Connected the two blue thermo switch wires together and got nothing while the bike was running. Appears that my next step would be to replace the regulator? The bike still runs great so I'm thinking its NOT the stator. Is there anything else I can do short of ordering a new regulator? 2000 Rev3 250 (yes, the one with the upside down forks). Greg
  7. It was a great event with an easy loop, too. Only rub was the lack of Senior Am splits (Sunday especially). Perfect weather, too. Thanks to the NTTA for hosting another Red River Riding area observed trials event!
  8. I've been using Duct tape to keep my 2000 Rev 3 fender in place. It really seems to hold the tail in place and takes a twisting fairly well, too. If anyone has a better fix I'd like to hear about it. I have a pristine fender that I'm keeping around for the next owner so buying a replacement isn't in my future. thanks! Greg

    Sad News

Here's Allen's obituary from the Wichita, Kansas newspaper website: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/kansas/ob...p;pid=142475373 From the club's website at avtatrials.com: Allen Guyot The Ark Valley Trials Association is sad to announce the loss of one of the cornerstones of our club. Allen Guyot passed away Saturday, May 1st in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He was there to compete in the 1st two rounds of the NATC National Trials Series. Allen had served as the AVTA
  13. Bernie's book is still available even though it's been out of print for some time. I picked up a copy a few years ago from Whitehorse Press. A google search for it will turn up a couple results for copies... Any one got a copy of Lane Levitt's trials book?
  14. Charles, I think the only clean was by Dale Reynolds - and only once. Tiffany and I practiced the entrance until we were exhausted (ok, until I was beat). The turn was just too greasy to make. App Bay sounds like good fun on Sunday. I'll see what I can do about making that...info is on the NEOTT site, right? Greg

    Octobertest

Our annual bike launch utilizes one of those micro-sized crotch rocket mini-sport bikes. One of our club members is an engineer for one of the local aircraft plants and built a launch ramp on one of the high sides to the rock quarry. We pin the throttle, give it a booster shove, and the bike does the rest rather spectacularly into the rock quarry floor below. Who says those bikes aren't useful? I'll post a shot of the carnage from this year's launch to add some color to our commentary...
  16. Sometimes I think the week after our 2-Day is the hardest! I'll have results posted this afternoon (11/15/2009) as the wife is in Kansas City shopping and I'm finally finished with my honey-dos. Jason Carpenter will have the final results of the CRTC to me and I'll get them posted to our website promptly following. A huge round of thanks to Jason & Marc Carpenter for running the CRTC this year! Well done! Jon, the trials DVDs are GREAT! Thank you again and for the kind words about the CRTC, too. At our club meeting Wednesday, everyone noted that this had to be one of our best events ever thanks to the great turnout and hard work of the club and their families. Fantastic pictures and unbelievable weather - we have rain and a brisk 45 degrees today! Tiffany and I got a chance to ride on Wednesday at the quarry after a very light rain. That tough off camber turn in the Pines was practically impossible now. Charles, you remember that turn, eh? Wes, thanks for the pictures of #3 on Saturday - those concrete stairs gave a bunch of guys some trouble! Greg
  17. What a great day we had today! 90+ riders, fantastic weather, great sections for morning & afternoon riders, and Pat Smage, too! The quarry was jumping with riders from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Tennesee, Kansas, Oklahoma, & Texas (the pits were packed!). The annual bike launch went off smoothly as did dinner, too. Tomorrow promises more of the same. Dale Malasek brought the 2010 Gas Gas for everyone to see and it was nicely priced, too. If you couldn't make this year's event mark your calendar for next year! I'll try to post a picture or two later... Greg

    Octobertest

Jon, I couldn't make this year's event but it sounds like it was one of your best yet! Thanks for the color commentary of before, during, and after - it made the pictures really shine! We're looking forward to all of the Oklahoma riders coming up north for the last two rounds of the CRTC, too. It promises to be one heck of an event! Yes, we'll have our now infamous bike launch on Saturday (same bike but better!) before the big cookout at the Flint Hills 2-Day in Douglass, KS November 7-8. It never disappoints! Greg
  19. No, I had to keep a family reunion commitment at Table Rock Lake - a place with tons of trials friendly terrain but no permits to ride. I really wanted to see Scipio, too! The NEOTT pictures look great. I moved up to Amateur at our last club event and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing you at the 2-Day! Greg
  20. We're four rounds and two events down with the same amount to go! Haven't got the final results from NTTA on this past weekend's Lone Star 2-day but we're keeping track on AVTA's website at avtatrials.com and will post updates as we get them. Next event in the series is Octobertest in Scipio, OK - the pictures on the NEOTT website look GREAT! Should be a hoot, too. Oct. 17-18 We wrap up the CRTC in Douglass, KS at the Flint Hills 2-Day, Nov. 7-8. Some of the best trials to be had in the Mid-West - come join us! Greg
  21. Have you got these installed yet? I had given up on fat bars for my '00 Rev 3 but this looks like what I need! I'm currently running Renthal 5.5 trials bend but could use the lift since I'm 6' 1" Thanks!
  22. Thanks Dan, points well taken! I'm running Redline synthetic 75w90 which seems to be an improvement over Maxima's Ultralight 75wt. The clutch did become smoother once the bike warmed up sufficently, but still not close enough to perfect. I'm hopeful I'll be as successful as you have been, too. My 2000 sat unused for 7 years with only a few hours on it when I found it. Thanks for the advice on the clutch basket - I'll give that a good look over, too. Any good tool store should have the jeweler's files Dan mentioned. Definately a must have for your tool kit. Cheers!
  23. Wow, Dan's post from over a year ago is spot on! I'm tempted to take the afternoon off from work and pull my clutch out to apply this fix. I say tempted because it's just now reached 30 degrees from this morning's 8 degrees. That means it would take a couple of hours to get the space heater roaring hot and the garage comfy enough to wrench in and not see your breath. My Rev 3's clutch has always been on-off with no real middle ground. Dan's pictures explain everything - thanks!
  24. Rounds 7 & 8 of the Central Regional Trials Championship will be held at Douglass, Kansas on November 1st & 2nd. Go to AVTA web site for full details and flyers. You can also get results from the other six rounds of the CRTC just like last year. If you've never ridden the quarry in Douglass then you're just not living right. Lots of fun and there's the bike launch Saturday night, too. Looks like all the classes will be decided at this event! We'll see you there!
