Took the flywheel off last night, nothing amiss really. Magnets all seemed the have similar strength.

Did notice some play though between the keyway & woodruff key. Not sure if there was enough to cause this issue once tightened but have ordered a new one anyway.

It would be ironic if it was that all along..

Does anyone know at which point btdc the ignition fires?

The woodruff key is purely an aid to locating the flywheel correctly and plays no part thereafter.

The reason you need a double lipped seal is that it has to seal with the high pressure side alternating from crankcase to drive casing every time the motor turns. So if you want to use single lipped seals and can fit two thin ones in the holder, make sure you fit them in opposing directions.

Just out of curiosity, would you fit the seals springs out or springs in ?

For a starting point, I'd mount the pegs so that the middle of the peg platform is in line with the front end of the tyre tread with the axle at mid slot.

What he said ^^  Height wise, somewhere if you take a horizontal line from the bottom of the gearbox  sprocket window.

Agreed, something between the BSA and the KT looks right. I appreciate the advice, thanks!

Just leave yourself enough adjustment for when you eventually discover your wrong.

Way I feel now is I'll just be glad to get out for a play.

Modern trials are really fussy plus most involve a bit travelling , expense, plus the bike has to be right.

I really don't know if I could rise to this again , maybe it's an age thing, I want to ride but not all that goes with it.

In May I had an entry for a major trial, if someone waved a magic wand and said it's all on you can go I couldn't face it.

Withdraw your entry and let someone who actually likes pre65 get a chance to enjoy it.

Thanks for a quick reply but I am looking for help setting up the steering stops and would like to know how many degrees to allow the handlebars to rotate. Thanks.

Just set the stops so the forks don't damage the tank or whatever, you can't have too much lock.

hi, thanks very much for the link, my problem is i fell of the bike and it went down on its side ( the rear brake side) picked the bike up  and the shaft on which the gear lever sits is leaking oil out of it, the shaft had a small amount of  in and out play before this happened but was fine and not leaking, i was wondering has the shaft pulled past an oil seal or has a clip jumped off, I'm hoping i don't have to split the nines just for this

You can replace the outer seal and o ring easily, think they are all the same but best to check   https://www.motoswm.co.uk/shop/swm-rotax-kickstart-clutch-cover-oil-seal-kit/

There is another o ring on the other end of the shaft, which requires casings to be split to replace.

  8. As above, refit it and tension as per spec. Then looking at the rear sprocket, at the point furthest back, pull it away from the sprocket, if there is any significance movement it probably needs replacing. What condition are you sprockets in ?

The SWM Jumbo came with 38mm forks

Most regs / definitions for eligibility state max 35mm, except jumbo swm's. It's what's inside that counts !

Doesn't really matter, the Evo we ride today hasn't changed all that much since 2009, and is not likely to change that much in the future (other than bold new graphics, revised porting on the cylinder, and some fine tuning on that same old Saches rear shock!)

Definition of revised - reconsidered and amended ! Does that mean changed back to how it used to be before it was improved ?

    Not at all

pschrauber is an extremely knowledgeable and helpful guy who has gone out of his way to help fellow trials enthusiasts,  why not just give a bit of credit where due ?
