Hi Hamish, was going till about Thursday, then with the weather and 5 hours each way, chickened out. Sorry to have missed you, hope you enjoyed it ?
The original poster, siht stirred that he is, is a friend of long standing, I look upon him as a long term project, care in the trials community, as it were.....
-
Loved that film you were in with Robert Redford , was that before or after mash ?

Levity, wasted. However anodised snail cams defiantly make your suspension work better. (thats a joke, again)
Danielle's bike is interesting, with footrests moved forward, and a garelli back box. Why do you imagine all the works bikes (that I've seen) have this mod ?
I have bikes with backward facing brake arm, forward facing arm, and fantic 300 brake plate. Hard to do a scientific test as they are all used and have different brake linings and brake cables. But in my examples the best is the fantic, followed with forward facing and last rear facing.
-
The o p didn't obviously understand the conversation ! FWIW, Danillo Gallizi has a forward facing brake arm, he's probably just a slave to fashion.
-
Click on the link above. Self servo effect.
-
You don't have to reduce tyre size, just make minimum pressure 10psi ?
-
FWIW, I have a high 4 gear in my 2 stroke pre65. It's obviously a bonus on fast tracks and road work, but on moors etc your restricted to 3rd much of the time. Still a trade off.
-
Share the wisdom, what's the problem with a single ring piston ?
-
I wouldn't discount single dykes ring piston, ran one for many years in a 240 Rotax.
-
Changing oil is never a bad thing, but atf is designed to run for thousands of miles.
-
It's atf, what happens in 5 hours in your bike ??

No problem, but faulty cdi may effect your timing causing overheating. Impeller is also worth checking as said above.
-
Check timing.
(Or don't check it, hard trying to help people sometimes.)
-
Good news. Did you buy a petrol or air screw carb ?
-
Was it running when you put it away ?
Have you tried a new plug ?
The timing should be fixed, look for tell tale marks incase it has moved.
Check the woodruff key is present and flywheel tight.
Check the reed valve (assuming it has one) petals are in good nick, no air leaks.
What does the plug look like, this might give an indication of the problem.
Is the exhaust clean internally ?
Has it got compression ?
Is the carb clean, and does the choke work ?
Have you tried a small amount of petrol down the plug hole ?
-
And supposedly have only 3 or 4 gears....
-
This make seal changing much easier,

Put the forks back together, springs, caps etc. Compress the forks slightly and loosen the damper rod bolt.
-
Some people like fiddling with bikes .........
-
Are you losing gear oil ? Does it smell like burning gear oil ?
Talk the exhaust off and clean it out.
What was the plug like when it stopped ?
Are you getting a spark ?
-
Is air filter clean ? Do not put to much oil in air filter as this will also make it run rich.
-
What if you have a half link in the chain ? That would bugger the theory ?
