How about a new forum devoted to the above as these question appear frequently throughout various bike specific forums, and alot of the solutions are general.

Good point about the straps, I personally wouldn't use straps with the S type ends as they can pop off if the cars bounces.

If its an Acerbis plastic tank (I think they were) a tap from a more modern Acerbis tank will probably fit, take the old one to a dealer as an example.

Having your side stand on the right keeps the clutch out of the oil, and causes less slip when kicking over.

No it works, not for long though.

The capacitor gets charged up if you kick it over with the plug out, when you reconnect it you get a better spark.

I try to engage the starter gears befor kicking it over, thinking being that its easier on the brive train.
